Social networks as a source of symbolic capital
Latislavová, Aneta ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
This study focuses on identifying users' motivations for using social media platforms and the question of perceiving their activity as a source of symbolic capital. The paper also provides insights into individuals' behaviors on social networks and their perspectives on associated phenomena. The empirical part is conducted through mixed research methods, wherein phenomena are examined in detail through interviews followed by a questionnaire survey. The study identifies key factors for user motivation and activity and explores how users explain them. It analyzes the mutual social interaction among users and its importance for both online and offline communication. The study includes mapping the influence of influencers on their followers and the perceived positive and negative aspects of their activities. The research also investigates how respondents react to interruptions in online communication and the impact on their mental health.
Measuring the burden of caring for the elderly
Mezenský, Štěpán ; Remr, Jiří (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
This thesis focuses on informal care and the burden of informal care. The aim is to explore the current form of informal care and to reflect on it with existing knowledge. In its first part, the thesis focuses on a description of the demographic development of the seniors, a description of informal care and the problems associated with it, solidarity, caregiving burden, and the possibilities of assistance and support for informal caregivers. Furthermore, the thesis sets out to describe what assistive technologies are, how informal carers use them and how they relieve them of the caring burden. Peripherally, the thesis also touches on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the caregiving burden. Through quantitative measurement using my own modification of the ZBI-4 questionnaire, I describe caregiving burden, taking into account basic sociodemographic data. The results show no statistically significant differences either across genders or across generations, apart from a significantly lower perceived caregiving burden for Generation X. I follow the quantitative part of the research with the qualitative part, based on semi-structured interviews. In the qualitative part, I describe the reasons for the decision for informal caregiving, its form and consequences, potential generational differences,...

Bistřický, Maxmilián ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Svobodová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of work values and motivations of Generations Z and Y in the Czech Republic. As Generation Z enters the job market, researching their values and motivations becomes increasingly relevant. A good understanding of generational values helps create a work environment suitable for optimizing performance and satisfaction. This work builds upon foreign research of generations and seeks to explore this topic further within the Czech population. In the first part, the thesis is grounded in theory. Both generations are described, including their characteristics and differences on a general level, as well as already researched work value characteristics. The thesis is also anchored in the study of values, and three dimensions are conceptualized, forming the basis for subsequent analysis: internal, external, and socio-relational values. Data from ISSP modules Work orientations III and IV from 2005 and 2015 are utilized for the analysis. The analysis in the IBM SPSS program is based on crosstabs tables supplemented with the Chi-square test. Factorial and cluster analyses are then performed, testing the consistency, strength, and structure of the conceptualized dimensions and variables. In conclusion, the results of the analysis, the limitations of the work, and...
