Peculiarities of the fantasy literature translation from English into Russian

Peculiarities of the fantasy literature translation from English into Russian ABSTRACT This thesis is devoted to the peculiarities of translating fantasy literature from English into Russian and studies these features on the example of several literary works. The paper is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The first part contains the theoretical foundations of the translation of literature in the chosen genre based on the thematic works of Russian-speaking and English- speaking authors. Lexical and grammatical features of fantasy literature, types and classification of translation transformations are also analyzed here. A separate chapter is devoted to the problems and difficulties encountered by translators who deal with the literature of the genre under study. The second part of the work contains an analysis of translation transformations, primarily lexical and grammatical, in the translation of selected works. The main purpose of the work is to compare the approaches of translators to different fantasy subgenres, such as magical, urban and humorous fantasy, which allows us to identify the specific features of the translation of each subgenre. A comparison of Hi-Fi components terminology between the Czech and Russian language

The bachelor thesis focuses on the comparison of the terminology of Hi-Fi components in Czech and Russian. Hi-Fi technology, as well as technology in general, has undergone massive development since the beginning of the 20th century. The bachelor thesis aims to compare the reaction of the Czech and Russian languages to this development. The thesis will consider the distinctive features of both languages as well as possible changes in terminology after 1991 due to globalization. One of the aims of the bachelor thesis is also to create a glossary of nomenclature.

Speech aggression in Russian and Czech media discourse

Verbal aggression appears more and more in the discourse of mass media to affect and manipulate consciousness of their receiver (such as promoting a biased point of view). Verbal aggression can be defined as an act of communication which is oriented on forming the emotional and mental state of a reader (mostly negative one). The thesis deals with the analysis of linguistic, functional and pragmatic characteristics of verbal aggression in both Russian and Czech mass media. In the thesis are characterized the forms and means of verbal aggression in the media discourse. The term verbal aggression is specified and its individual types are characterized.

Genre features of fashion blogs

Annotation:The blog is one of the most popular internet-genres. The paper analyzes the communicative space of blogs about fashion in stylistic, genre and discursive aspects. The author reveals the essence of the hypertext specifics of the fashion blog genre, and also analyzes the means of expression. As the study showed, the genre features of fashion blogs include the use of a large number of borrowings related to the field of fashion, the use of specific means of expression (which are focused primarily on the female audience as the main consumer of goods and services in this area), the author's desire to establish close contact with the audience and create a relaxed atmosphere of communication.

Changes of city names in Russian Federation after politically active figures of the 20th century

This bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of political changes of town names, prevalent in the Soviet Union. It firstly discusses the causes and principles of changes in the names of Soviet towns closely linked with the nature of the Soviet political system, the history of the USSR, and other circumstances. The aim of this thesis has been limited to an examination of renaming the towns in the territory of the then RSFSR, which is divided according to the principles stated in the first part. The focus of the thesis is put on the alternations of town names reflecting major political figures of the time. Russian Newspeak

At the beginning of this undergraduate work, the author set himself the goal of studying and describing the phenomena of Russian newspeak, based on multiple publications in the mass media, as well as the statements made by politicians and public figures, in order to eventually define and formulate the main features and characteristics of this highly politicized language of modern Russia. It is important to emphasize that in this work, "newspeak" - the object of our study - is defined as certain elements of lexicon and several morphological and derivational features that are relevant for our study. Our main attention is focused on the search, identification and description of lexical markers of the language of modern Russian propaganda, which in turn affects the language of political and public discussion. In the theoretical part of this work, we used literature, which is dedicated to the study of three Newspeaks - one fictional (the language of Ingsoc from the novel "1984") and two real ones (the language of the Soviet era and the language of the Third Reich), which served as prototypes for the English writer George Orwell during creation of the dystopian novel. The thesis is based on the theory of cognitive linguistics, especially on theory of semantic school of Lublin. Addressing in selected writings of A. P. Chekhov and its equivalents in Czech translations

This thesis is devoted to the analysis of addressing as a partial translation problem, preceded by basic linguistic characteristics of this language phenomenon and comparison of addressing in Czech and Russian. Based on the theoretical work of leading theorists of translation, own categorization of translation processes was developed within the work. The application of specific translation procedures on selected Chekhov stories was analysed and evaluated in terms of suitability. Biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech

This master's thesis deals with biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech language. The theoretical part is divided into two main chapters. The first one provides short overview of main areas of aspectological research. Individual subchapters explain and describe basic aspectological concepts - aspect, aspectual pair, aktionsart etc, their functional features and mechanisms of creating aspectual pairs. The second theoretical chapter is devoted to the phenomenon of biaspectuality. It presents different approaches to the nature of biaspectuality and issues of classification of biaspectual verbs. It also maps statistical data about biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech and describes dynamics of their development. The practical part represents a contrastive analysis of 50 Russian and 50 Czech biaspectual verbs. Main goal was to explore functioning of biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech, find their new potential aspectual partners, examine mechanisms of their creating and determine extent of their semantic overlap with original borrowed biaspectual verbs, using selected electronic corpuses, the internet and own examples.
