Covering families of triangles by convex sets
Krajči, Samuel ; Kynčl, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Jan (referee)
A convex universal cover of a family M of sets in the plane is a convex set that contains a congruent copy of every element of M. Park and Cheong conjecture that for every family of triangles with bounded diameter there exists a triangle that is a smallest universal cover of this family. We prove this conjecture for every family of all triangles with the lengths of their two sides fixed, every family of all triangles with the length of a side and the size α of the opposite angle fixed (where α is from an interval (0, λ]∩[3π/7, π) with λ being approximately 0.396π), every finite subfamily of a family of all triangles with the length of a side and the size α of the opposite angle fixed (where α ≥ π/2). 1
Alternating paths in colored point sets in convex position
Papáčková, Marie Guadalupe ; Valtr, Pavel (advisor) ; Soukup, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the problem of the longest alternating paths in colored point sets in a convex position, especially in point sets with n red and n blue points. The aim of the thesis is to summarize the main results in this area and put them in context. First, we present the basic concepts and the algorithm for finding the longest alternating path on a specific point set. We express l(n), the largest number such that for each arrangement of 2n points with n red and n blue points, there is an alternating path of at least l(n). We show the connection of l(n) to the problem of the largest separated matching. We present the most important lower and upper bounds of l(n), including the best ones published so far. Finally, we generalize the problem for multicolored point sets and show the related problem about (anti)palindromic subsequences of binary circular words.

History or Fiction? The Question of Hybrid Literature: Laurent Binet's Novel HHhH
Soukup, Jan ; Šuman, Záviš (referee)
The diploma thesis concerns the questions of hybrid literature, especially the novel HHhH by Laurent Binet. Even though history and fiction can impact and enrich each other, their relationship is quite problematic. Therefore philosophers, historians and literary critics are trying to answer the questions of how to write (about) history. Laurent Binet tackles this in his novel HHhH, in which two storylines keep alternating. In the first one narrator constantly addresses the reader, expressing his doubts if it is even possible to give a faithful account of an historical event. In the second storyline he portrays the events that led to the assassination of deputy Reich Protector of the Bohemia and Moravia Reinhard Heydrich. The goal of the thesis is to analyse the relationship between history and fiction, as this relationship has during the 20th century undergone rapid changes, which are also apparent in the analysed text. The thesis is divided in two parts. The first, which serves as a theoretical base for the subsequent analysis of HHhH, depicts the historiographical approaches, which have changed and evolved significantly in the 20th century. The second part tracks the reflections of the particular historiographical approaches in HHhH and examines, which conclusions has the author reached in his...
Sapping- its field features and studies focused on detail description of the process
Soukup, Jan ; Bruthans, Jiří (advisor) ; Schweigstillová, Jana (referee)
The study discuss about groundwater sapping erosion, whereas is upon process looked from various points of view. In small scale it observes difference between sapping drainage network and network formed by surface runoff. Further forms of the sapping weathering are described and are mentioned examples of sapping valleys from different places around the world. Partially are mentioned actual knowledge in evolution of deep incised valleys on the Mars surface, which are obviously also formed partly by sapping. In the second part, study describes some experiments focused on evolution of sapping valleys in laboratory environment.
Channels eroded by groundwater flow in Strelec quarry: erosion processes and factors influencing channel evolution
Soukup, Jan ; Bruthans, Jiří (advisor) ; Grmela, Arnošt (referee)
Large depression cone in water table was formed due to mining in surroundings of Střeleč quarry. The concentrated inflow from conduits to quarry is up to 70 l/s. Large conduit systems are created by flowing water into the quarry. The biggest conduit system was at least 300 m long and 17 m high with maximum calculated volume of 22 thousands m3 . Evolution of these conduits usually takes several months to few years. Fast conduit evolution allows to study erosion processes in detail in situ. In the thesis I am describing conduits, character of flow and erosion processes. Measured flow velocities in conduits are up to 0,4 m/s with hydraulic gradient 1 to 5%. Flow velocities and hydraulic gradients are typical for piping erosion. Piping initially forms small protoconduits. The bigger conduits are formed as water is progressively drained from larger area. Conduits are following fracture surfaces, which are also limiting the conduit propagation to the sides. Above water table the conduits are enlarged mainly by mass wasting of undercut sandstone slabs. For distinguishing less and more erodible parts of sandstone, we adapted and partially developed a method for measuring erodability (REI) and drilling resistance (DR). Both are used to compare different types of sandstone surfaces. In lowermost part of the...

Diversity changes in cryptogams along the Scotia arch.
Soukup, Jan ; Frouz, Jan (advisor) ; Hauerová, Radka (referee)
The Scottish Sea and its islands are one of the least explored areas in the world and the least affected areas by human. There are many endemic species of lower plants, thanks to the young geological system and volcanic activity. The study area is located between the northernmost tip of Antarctic continent and the northernmost tip of the South America. Due to its geological and volcanic diversity, this environment offers space for the creation of new young ecosystems, making it an ideal learning area offering extensive research opportunities not only in the diversity of these young ecosystems. This bachelor thesis presents a summary of available sources of lower plants in this area and their spread within islands. As an annex to this bachelor thesis is created a sheet, which represents a summary of representatives of lower plants. Finally, the ability of their dissemination of current and historical significance and the validity of basic ecological principles on the spread and quantity of individual species are discussed. Key words: Scotia Arc; distribution; biogeography; island biogeography; botany; lichens; mosses; liverworts; hornworts; diatoms.
System approach to line managers education at company CIUR, a. s.
Soukup, Jan ; Tureckiová, Michaela (referee)
The presented rigorous work on the topic of a systemic approach to the education of line managers in the corporation CIUR, a. s., Is focused on the creation and implementation of an educational model directly for a specific corporation and the design of measures to improve the education system. This is an area where early implementation in practice can be expected. The theoretical part of the rigorous thesis deals with the education of line managers, which is considered a necessary step to increase competitiveness and reduce costs (complaints, scrap products). It describes individual areas of systematic education in the corporation, supports the implementation of IT technologies in teaching, the importance of which is currently invaluable. Furthermore, in the field of education of line managers, it solves educational needs, design of optimal educational methods and forms, development of competencies or use of talent management for education. The practical part introduces the corporation CIUR, a.s. and comparative corporation B, which is conducted quantitative research, using research methods of benchmarking, SWOT analysis, questionnaire survey and interviews to determine the importance of educational factors for the line managers of the corporation. The practical part addresses the issue of...
