Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after Total Knee Replacement

iv Abstract Author: Adam Viktora Supervisor: PhDr. Lenka Žáková, Ph.D. Title of the thesis: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after Total Knee Replacement Objectives: The goal of this thesis is to gather and understand the theoretical knowledge of the knee joint, osteoarthritis, total knee replacement surgery and its rehabilitation, and then evaluate the therapeutic sessions that were applied. Clinical findings: This study evaluated the condition of a 73-year-old patient after total knee replacement of the right knee. The examination showed a reduced range of motion, reduced mobility of joints, muscle imbalances and differences in conditions of soft tissues. Methods: All methods used for this study were based on the knowledge learned and the literature provided by the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, Charles University. Results: Following the eight therapeutic sessions, the patient had progressed well overall. Progress was seen in terms of pain, range of motion, muscle imbalances and condition of soft tissues. Conclusion: The therapies applied were effective and valuable in this specific diagnosis of the patient. Jana Sohrová Objectives: Main objective of this theses is to elaborate theoretical and practical information concerning pertrochanteric fracture and present physiotherapeutic interventions currently used as a treatment. Methods: The basis for writing this bachelor's thesis was continuous professional practice at the Centrum léčby pohybového aparátu. The work is divided into a general and a special part. The general part consists of the theoretical basis for the diagnosis of pertrochanteric fracture of the femur. It includes an anatomical description, kinesiology of the affected area, basic information from traumatology and subsequent rehabilitation. A special part deals with the management of therapy for a patient with a pertrochanteric fracture, input and output kinesiological analysis, case report of individual therapies and their effect. Results: A comparison of the results of the initial and final examination showed that the goals set in important physical functions were met within the therapy, but the patient is still not fully recovered. Title: Case report of a patient after total hip arthroplasty Objectives: The aim of this case study is to obtain and elaborate the current knowledge about the diagnosis of total hip arthroplasty. In the special part, the aim is to elaborate a case study of a patient after total hip arthroplasty with the proposal of therapy, its implementation and evaluation of the results. Methods: This case study is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part contains the current knowledge related to the diagnosis of total hip arthroplasty, including anatomy, kinesiology, the operation itself, preoperative rehabilitation and postoperative rehabilitation. The practical part includes the analysis of a specific case of a patient after total hip arthroplasty and includes the initial kinesiological analysis, the course of therapy and the outcome kinesiological analysis with the evaluation of therapy. Results: After almost three weeks of rehabilitation in the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, the patient's subjective and objective condition improved, her pain was eliminated and her joint range and muscle strength were increased. Title: A case report of physiotherapeutic care of a patient after ischemic stroke Objective: The aim of this thesis is to summarize the theoretical information on the topic of stroke and then to develop a case report of a patient after ischemic stroke with right-sided hemiparesis. Methods: This bachelor thesis deals with stroke and is divided into two parts - general and special. The general part contains the main theoretical information about stroke. In addition, the physiotherapist's examination typical of the diagnosis is described, together with a selection of methods and procedures most commonly used in the physiotherapeutic care of these patients. The special section includes a case report of a patient after ischemic stroke with subsequent right-sided hemiparesis, including the initial and final kinesiological examination, the course of individual therapies and a summary of the effect of therapy. The background for the special part was obtained during the continuous professional practice at the Department of Post- operative Rehabilitation at the Regional Hospital Kladno from 9 January to 3 February 2023 under the supervision of the supervisor Mgr. Methods: The case report of physiotherapeutic care for a selected patient was processed during concurrent professional practice at the Faculty Thomayer Hospital at the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation 3. LF UK and FTN. The internship took place from 9/1/2023 to 3/2/2023. To write the special part, an anamnesis was first taken, and an initial kinesiology examination was performed. Based on the examination, a short-term and long-term therapeutic plan was made. A total of 15 therapeutic units took place, during the first and last therapeutic units there was an initial and final kinesiology examination. Methodology: The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and special. The theoretical part contains general knowledge of kinesiology of the spine, problems of compression fractures and osteoporosis and physiotherapeutic methods and procedures related to these diagnoses. All the information contained in the theoretical part has been taken from the literature. The special part of this bachelor thesis was prepared on the basis of a continuous professional practice in the period from 24 January to 4 February 2022 at the University Hospital Královské Vinohrady. Title: Case report of a physiotherapeutic care patient with a diagnosis of total knee replacement of the knee joint Aims: The main aim of my bachelor thesis is to process a case report of a physiotherapeutic care patient with a diagnosis of total knee replacement of the knee joint. Part of the work is also a comprehensive theoretical introduction to the topic. Methods: This bachelor thesis consists of a general and a special part. The general part contains informations about the anatomy and kinesiology of the knee joint, information about osteoarthritis which is the most common indication for total knee replacement, it's etiopathogenesis and it's treatment. It also contains a chapter on total knee replacement, it's history, types of endoprostheses, indications and contraindications of this procedure and especially the subsequent rehabilitation and effect of therapeutic procedures used in physiotherapeutic care. Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis is a detailed elaboration of a case study of physiotherapeutic treatment of a patient after proctocolectomy with temporary ileostomy and summary of theoretical knowledge related to this diagnosis, its causes, consequences and rehabilitation treatment options. This thesis was created within a continuous professional practice at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental of Medicine in Prague at the KARIP Resuscitation Department in the period 14/01/2022 - 04/02/2022.
