Machine-Learning in Natural Language Processing
Otrusina, Lubomír ; Šilhavá, Jana (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This beachelor's thesis deals with word sense disambiguation problem using the machine learning techniques. There are shortly presented problems of word sense disambiguation and its timeline. There are described methods and approaches, especially the naive Bayes classifier that is implemented in the system. There's illustrated a simple example of using this classifier. In a practical section is described project of system based on naive Bayes classifier including description of various algorithms used in the system. Finally there are described evaluation and analysis of the system. This created system took part in an international competition on semantic evaluation workshop SemEval-2007.
Automatically Updated Web Portal on European Research Projects
Charvát, Lucie ; Kouřil, Jan (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The Bachelor's Thesis aims at creating a web portal allowing users to search within European research projects. It is optimized for full-text searches including project's deliverables. The thesis also includes a tool responsible for automatic update of web portal data.
Automatic Identification of Paraphrases
Otrusina, Lubomír ; Schwarz, Petr (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
Automatic paraphrase discovery is an important task in natural language processing. Many systems use paraphrases for improve performance e.g. systems for question answering, information retrieval or document summarization. In this thesis, we explain basic concepts e.g. paraphrase or paraphrase pattern. Next we propose some methods for paraphrase discovery from various resources. Subsequently we propose an unsupervised method for discovering paraphrase from large plain text based on context and keywords between NE pairs. In the end we explain evaluation metods in paraphrase discovery area and then we evaluate our system and compare it with similar systems.
Parallel Corpus Manager
Kouřil, Jan ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of diploma project was to implement parallel corpus manager, which can align parallel texts in different languages and insert them into corpus, where several more processing functions are provided. Program provides possibilities of automatic text alignment and its interactive editing. These aligned texts are then inserted into corpus. Program can work with multiple corpora, parallel corpus is allways identified by a couple of languages. In corpus, there are possibilities to search by many categories, view and edit particular selections, lemmatize and morphologically tag given texts, sort selections, import and export data, in many ways edit corpus for further easy navigation and add new expressions to managed dictionaries. Particular chapters describe introduction to corpus problematics, theory of aligning parallel texts, morphological text tagging and lemmatization, external tools used in program, most common subtitle formats and implementation solution of particular problems.
Development of AJAX Web Components in ExtJS
Dytrych, Jaroslav ; Schwarz, Petr (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design and implementation of the page layout manager for a web user interface composed of components. A part of solution is also a new XML format for configuring of the manager of page layout and composition and a new application interface for components. The created system has met the requirements of the European project KiWi and has passed the acceptance tests of its project team.
Parallel Text Alignment
Kadlček, Filip ; Grézl, František (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis is concerned to align parallel corpus. In the first part of thesis are describe acceses to align and some tool to align. As first describe a statistical align, but the main part is specialize to align with use dictionary, which is the main part of this thesis. In the midle part is introduce the princip of dictionary align and a simple example of align. At the end of work are sumarize obtained results and are noted proposals for future develop.
Surveillance Video Search
Web as a Source for Automatic Creation of Morphological Dictionary
Bulka, Pavol ; Matějka, Pavel (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
Creation of natural language words is based on rules, which are generally complex. Often it is very difficult or even impossible to describe them precisely in a formal way. That is why we use a morphological dictionary to process natural language. In this paper we discuss the creation of morphological dictionary from Slovak's top level domain web. We talk about web crawling, data processing for morphological analysis and data structures too. This document makes basic principle and conception of morphological analysis clear. Final system, which is described in this thesis, produces morphological dictionary. This dictionary can be use in various application, for example spell checker, machine translation and so on.
Automatically Updated Web Portal
Staněk, Petr ; Škoda, Petr (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is dedicated to the design and implementation of an automatically updated web portal that tries to resolve the shortcomings of the portals filled with other people's content. Furthermore, it presents a comparison of the existing scientific portals, it discusses the problems of extraction, saving and searching for information. General mechanisms are demonstrated on the European research projects portal, which removes the shortcomings of CORDIS, the official information portal for European research and development. The thesis takes the existing product as a prototype and its aim is to improve the quality of the extraction and extend the system to detect any potential problems and notified an administrator of them. This was achieved by increasing the robustness and speed of the extractor, by registering all the important events associated with the extraction and, on the other side, the implementation of the separate administrator section of the web portal, which informs the administrator about problems and offers the problem-solving devices.
Graphical User Interface for Comparing RDF Models
