Calibration of contact and non-contact thermometers
Skalický, David ; Kazelle, Jiří (referee) ; Frk, Martin (advisor)
This work deals with the calibration of contact and contactless thermometers. The theoretical part describes physical laws, which are important for contact and contactless measuring of temperature, requirements for thermometers, suitability of use different types of thermometers and materials used for construction of temperature sensors. The following part describes metrology with the focus on metrology system of the Czech Republic. This thesis also describes errors and uncertainties of measurments, especially on their division, sources of uncertainties and methodology of type A and type B uncertainty determination. The practical part is focused on the calibration of thermometers within the Czech Metrological Institute and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication in Brno.
Methodology for contactless measurement of temperature
Skalický, David ; Rozsívalová, Zdenka (referee) ; Frk, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with the issues of contactless measuring of temperatures and calibration of chosen temperature meter. The beginning of this thesis concerns physical laws and basic terms which are crucial for contactless measuring of temperatures. The following part gives the division of detectors and pyrometres for contactless measuring of temperatures. The conclusion of the theoretical part describes the advantages of these ways of measuring and practical use of them. The practical part deals with instruments that are accessible at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, their comparing and choice of the most advantageous meter for calibration. The following part is the implementation of the experiment related to contactless meassuring of temperatures. The conclusion of the practical part contains composition of optimized workplace for calibration of contactless temperature meters and the calibration of chosen temperature meters itself.
Against Dualism - Conceptual Art in the Context of Functional-Normative Theory

Title: Against Dualism - Conceptual Art in the Context of Functional-Normative Theory Author: Michaela Brejcha Department: Department of Aesthetics Supervisor: Mgr. Ondřej Dadejík, Ph.D. Abstract: The present dissertation thesis focuses on the problem of theoretical reflection of conceptual art in Anglo American aesthetic discourse in the second half of 20th and the beginning of 21st centuries. It is based on the claim of many conceptual artists and also some theoreticians, which emerged in the nineteen- fifties, that the conceptual art or tendencies have nothing in common with aesthetics or aesthetic theory. This work shows that this presumed discord draws on reduced understanding of what is the aesthetics and, at the same time, this understanding itself is based on the dualistic paradigm, which presents one of the most fundamental frames for our approach to reality. In the context of analysis of selected texts of Anglo American aesthetics, eight particular distinctions of dualism will be defined, which to a great extent contributed to the rejection of aesthetics by conceptual artists, and on the other hand to bad recognition of conceptual art by the aesthetic theory. As an alternative to the dualistic approach in the context of definition of conceptual art, the fluid and dynamic conception of aesthetics...
Role of Aesthetic Value in Ralph B. Perry's General Theory of Value
Hlávka, Jan ; Zuska, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Skalický, David (referee) ; Šíp, Radim (referee)
IN ENGLISH Ralph B. Perry's general theory of value was the most extensive and influential axiological project undertaken in the USA prior to WWII. While Perry's main goal is to provide a general definition of value and to describe the means of its criticism, the project also deals with the nature of special values, including aesthetic value. This dissertation thesis traces the aesthetic vein in Perry's theory, which is concentrated on the terms of aesthetic interest and its passive correlate, the aesthetic object. These are also the centerpieces of the definition of aesthetic value. First, interest and its object are defined in their general sense; next, they are defined in their specific aesthetic sense. Perry defines aesthetic interest as the interest in apprehension, and the object of this interest as a problematic intentional object with an index-predicate structure: its index is the localizable source of stimulus, and its predicate, the reflected act of apprehension. The final chapter is devoted to the forms of interplay between aesthetic interest and other interests, and the criticism of aesthetic interest from the aesthetic and moral standpoint. In Perry's theory, the aesthetic value belongs among the trinity of universal values. It is considered autonomous as long as the aesthetic interest...
Documentation of the historical buildings for hops processing: thematic survey of hop dryers
Podroužek, Kamil ; Eismann, Šimon ; Horák, Jan ; Kaláb, Jiří ; Papoušek, Miroslav ; Kuprová, Renata ; Radová, Lucie ; Skalický, David ; Švec, Roman
The main focus of this project NAKI DG16P02B021 Documentation of the historical buildings for hops processing was to perform a basic documentation of the historical buildings for hops processing. These buildings are part of architectual assets bound to the specific natural conditions occuring only in some regions. These conditions constitute an important part of the urbanism of towns and cultural countriside. There has not been given any scientific attention to the development, function, constructions or the technological equipment used on these buildings. In addition, these buildings (except several) are not historically protected. With respect to size, these buildings are of a great financial burden to their owners and have lately been subject to a large scale of demolition. Out of more than 5500 of these buildings listed in the beginning of the 20th century in Zatec hops region itself only hundreds have been preserved. Hence, the documentation is the last possibility of recording these buildings for the future. As part of the basic documentation of the buildings, undoubtful identification, photo-documentation, the documentation of the specific contruction solutions, technological equipment and technological state of proving the hops processing, the land surveying, the construction measurements and sample collection for dendro-chronical dating of selected buildings was performed. The archive research was part of the study as well. Based on this evidence a special map and IISPP/GIS NPÚ based database was created. A highly easy-to-use system was created using sophisticated technology - phones with cameras and GPS modules, tablet PCs, remote network access to the external scanned document storage and remotely accessible GIS and MIS map databases. This system enables operational field documentation and based on this experience a methodology was created that describes the use of this widlely available technology in basic field architectural documentation.

The Possibilities of Application of "Semantic Gesture" in Interpretation of Literary Texts
SKALICKÝ, David
The submitted thesis focuses on Jan Mukařovský´s concept of semantic gesture. The first chapter attempts to grasp it in the context of Prague School Structuralism, which constitutes the aesthetics and semantics basis of the concept. Further chapters consider semantic gesture in the dialogue with the studies of Paul Ricoeur regarding the relation between structuralism and hermeneutics (or analysis and interpretation), and in the context of Umberto Eco´s interpretation theory. The problems of interpretation represent the scope of our consideration {--} semantic gesture is understood not only as a theoretical term, but primarily as the concept that could lead us to deeper inquiring about the sense of particular literary works of art. Thus the work is devoted also to theoretical issues of interpretation of literary texts and the possibilities of application of the concept of semantic gesture in the interpretations of particular texts. Specific attempts to elaborate and apply the semantic gesture are reflected, especially the work of Milan Jankovič. The last chapter attempts to consider semantic gesture and possibilities of its application for the interpretation of literary texts in the poststructural context.
