Effect of physical load on handgun shooting accuracy
Vokoun, Jaroslav ; Pavelka, Radim (advisor) ; Hermel, Ivan (referee)
Title: Effect of physical load on handgun shooting accuracy. Objective: The aim of this work is to detect and compare the effects of physical activity (in the form of a shuttle run at the limit of 85% SF max.) on the shooting accuracy from a short firearm. Methods: This was an experimental study with an intra-subject design. Thirty randomly assigned police officers at age 35.9 years (SD = 4.5) made 5 shots from a Glock 17 pistol (gen. 3) within 5 seconds in a stable position without support before and after physical activity (shuttle run on length10 m in time until the completion of 85% SF max.) to a fixed target at a distance of 8 meters. Comparison of shooting accuracy from the middle point of impact between interventions (shooting before and after physical activity) was performed by using a paired T-test. The level of statistical significance was set at p ≥ 0.05. Cohen's d was used to determine the magnitude of the strength of the effects. Results: Based on the paired T-test, a statistically significant difference was found in the accuracy of shooting from the middle point of impact without and after physical activity (p = 0.007, d = 0.498). We also consider the deterioration of shooting accuracy after physical exertion by 9 mm from the middle point of impact, which is 21.78%, to be factually...
Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury in Judo
Meško, Mikuláš ; Pavelka, Radim (advisor) ; Holá, Veronika (referee)
Title: Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury in Judo Objectives: Based on current scientific knowledge, describe and summarize aspects of knee injuries in judo, specifically the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Get an overview of the causes of this injury, frequency of occurrence and possible impact on quality of life. Methods: Narrative review Results: The anterior cruciate ligament is a very important stabilizer of the knee joint, and its injury causes not only long absences in training but even the complete termination of a sports career. Furthermore, it has been found that motor functions can be restored after an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament, but kinesthesia (the sense of movement and perception of movement by stimulation of receptors in muscles and tendons) can be permanently impaired. The impact of this injury is also an increase in the risk of osteoporosis in the knee joint in younger people. Anterior cruciate ligament injuries affect more women than men, and the most commonly performed techniques in which this injury occurs are osoto-gari and kosoto-gari. Key words: knee, sports injury, judo, ACL, quality of life
The Impact of Body Weight Manipulation on Cognitive Performance and Present Psychological State in Combat Sports
Hrdlička, Jaroslav ; Pavelka, Radim (advisor) ; Harsa, Pavel (referee)
Title: The Impact of Body Weight Manipulation on Cognitive Performance and Present Psychological State in Combat Sports Objectives: The main objective of this diploma thesis is to investigate how Rapid Weight Loss (RWL) and subsequent Rapid Weight Gain (RWG) affect the cognitive performance and psychological state of combat sports athletes. A secondary objective is to examine the effects of these practices on body composition and, in the case of RWL, the effects on Urine Specific Gravity (USG). Methods: General information regarding pre-competition body weight manipulation experiences was obtained from 19 combat sports athletes who underwent weight reduction over a period of 7 days, followed by a 2-hour recovery period. Cognitive performance was assessed through various tests (simple reaction time test, choice reaction time test, and DSST) before and after RWL, and after RWG. Psychological state was assessed using standardized questionnaires (BRUMS and PANAS) before, during and after RWL, and after RWG. During RWL, USG and the methods used for RWL were also monitored. Results: The athletes reduced their body weight by 4.9% and subsequently regained 2.6% of body weight. RWL significantly impaired simple reaction time by 5.6% (16 ms). RWL also resulted in a statistically significant deterioration of...
Dependence of somatotype and fitness condition in martial arts
Stibůrek, Michal ; Pavelka, Radim (advisor) ; Smolík, Petr (referee)
Title: Dependence of somatotype and fitness condition in martial arts. Thesis aim: Main aim of this thesis is to find out mutual dependence among tracked variables - placed in ranking list and UNIFITTEST (6-60). Methods: For theoretical part of thesis the author used method of analysis and synthesis of specialized literary sources. In practical part the main method used was regression analysis. Method according to Heath-Carter was used to assessment somatotype. Towards evaluation of kinetic performance and efficiency was used UNIFITTEST (6-60). Results: Results from research show us that during the research of mutual dependencies it hasn't proved any link between tracked variables and place in ranking list UNIFITTEST (6-60). Considering measured values judo athletes are in category endomorphic mesomorphic and karate athletes are in category well-balanced mesomorphic. Keywords: somatotype, martial arts, karate, judo, UNIFITTEST (6-60)
