Development and implementation of a database schema testing system
Káňa, Jakub ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Procházka, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis deals with development of software tool which is able to automatically test relational schemas. Software development is aimed at supporting database systems Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle MySQL. In the introduction is presented research papers of comparison of database schemas in a software development teams after that selected software tools offered by the market are evaluated. In the next part is introduced historical context of evolution of database models and there are described objects within the rela-tional schemas. It is discussed differences between mentioned database systems and ways of providing meta-information about database schema. In the implementation part is described development of testing tools, problems occurred during development are analyzed. One chapter is devoted to description of applied tech-nologies. Contribution of this work is application design and practical implementation in the envi-ronment of the real company which is capable to create database objects based on SQL (DDL) scripts and compare them with pre-defined logic.
Improvement of sporting organization IS
Rebenda, Jiří ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
The thesis addresses the information system improvement for the specific sporting organization. The main motivation behind this and assumption, too, is the intention to improve operation in the sporting organization TAEHAN. The main aim of the thesis is the improvement proposal for the current IS. It is achieved by fulfilling the following objectives - current situation analysis and creation of proposals for improvement measures, new IS detailed requirements specification and its rough design which should express its main structural features. This set of objectives corresponds to the way of organizing thesis into individual chapters. In order to meet the first objective, it was necessary to create a list of improvement measures, which results from the description of the current situation and identification of the existing solution shortcomings. In terms of the benefit it is the most important part. The second objective was achieved by drawing up a comprehensive list of validated requirements. As a validation method, it was chosen the check based on checklist taken from existing information sources. The last objective was the design of new IS form. It was divided into two parts - in the first, based on the use cases, the IS was divided into several subsystems and in the second part, rough architecture of the possible solution was described including the advantages of its certain aspects.
Solution for registration of sales
Rolli, Andreas ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Manda, Libor (referee)
This thesis deals with a comparison and an evaluation of chosen solutions or products/services for registration of sales. For registration of sales were selected 8 solutions which are evaluated by the method of multi-criteria evaluation (15 criterions) and the output is one number in a range from 1 to 10 which determines quality and value of the solution. The selected solutions cover all the types from simple SW applications to the POS systems. Accomplishment of the objective is beneficial, as the comparisons and evaluations are independent in this thesis and also because the web portals based on comparisons of solutions for registration of sales focus on earnings. The second part of this thesis deals with a creation of an exemplary software application for registration of sales. The application is programmed in C# programming language and Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 development environment. The application sends data to the system of registration of sales and receives a response (fiscalization). The whole communication takes place in a non-production environment known as Playground, which is intended for developers. A part of the attachment of this thesis is a set of source codes which developers can use for their POS application or system. A benefit from the exemplary application is a completion of blank spaces which were not previously filled by Financial Authority. Financial Authority only published a technical specification which is only an interpretation of the law.
Logging with ELK stack
Berger, Jan ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Rucký, Přemysl (referee)
The thesis is dedicated to a logging management in an environment of frequently visited web applications with high availability. The goal is to show the limitations associated with classic text-only logs, propose a better approach and to offer an evaluation of benefits. The topic is presented on a case study project of centralized logging management for the company Fortuna which the author of the thesis participated in. The technologies selected for this study were Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana, which, used together, are called ELK stack.
Creation of frontend for banking system
Jandoš, Ondřej ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Vokr, Michal (referee)
This thesis solves creating of frontend for module banking system. It is focused mainly on developing frontend application in APEX. The thesis describes recommendations and procedures how should be the application in Oracle APEX made and its content. The frontend is described to the state as the backend application was developed at the time when the thesis was written. The contribution of this thesis is creating the application in APEX.
Comparison of relational and object-oriented database models
Kojecká, Jana ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Strossa, Petr (referee)
This thesis compares relational database model with object-oriented model. In this work, there are analyzed both of the models and determined criteria of comparison. Criteria of comparison are based on form of data storage, data types, inclusion of operations, relationships, inheritance, encapsulation, polymorphism, and the last criterion is the query and definition language. Database models are compared on theoretical level and common and different features are sought.
Database design for company Ceskoslovensky autoslalom
Rocheva, Arina ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design of a database model for Ceskoslovensky autoslalom z. s., which organizes automobile races. The main goal of this thesis is to make a complex database model, corresponding to the current situation of the company. The theoretical part describes the methodology used in this thesis. The practical part contains the database creation process. First, there are identified requirements for the new database system. Then conceptual and physical database designs are following. Database created in the MySQL database system and tested in Microsoft Access. The contribution of the thesis is to ease and optimize data management in the organization after the database implementation.
Development of IS for student organization
Dao, Ha My ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the existing database and its development for future use. The database belongs to an information system called BuddyIS, which is used by the student non-profit organization ESN VŠE Praha - Buddy System. The aim of the thesis is to consolidate the existing database structure, which can be achieved by refactoring and design of new elements. This thesis is based on the knowledge of the organization´s processes, which the author gained through her activity in the organization. Current requirements are inferred from consultations with the members of the organization. The benefit of the thesis is the basis for further development of the whole information system and further documentation that will serve the next generation of organization members.
Design of search engine for modern needs
Maršálek, Tomáš ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Strossa, Petr (referee)
In this work I argue that field of text search has focused mostly on long text documents, but there is a growing need for efficient short text search, which has different user expectations. Due to this reduced data set size requirements different algorithmic techniques become more computationally affordable. The focus of this work is on approximate and prefix search and purely text based ranking methods, which are needed due to lower precision of text statistics on short text. A basic prototype search engine has been created using the researched techniques. Its capabilities were demonstrated on example search scenarios and the implementation was compared to two other open source systems representing currently recommended approaches for short text search problem. The results show feasibility of the implemented prototype regarding both user expectations and performance. Several options of future direction of the system are proposed.
Architectural database refactoring
Nguyen Trung, Hoa ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Krch, David (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with database architectural refactorings. Its purpose is to describe each and every architectural refactoring method in detail on theoretical level with following author's own examples. These examples contain schema update mechanics and an outline of application code update. First of all, there will be an explanation of what refactoring stands for and what are the main differences between database refactoring and code refactoring. Following is detailed description of each and every architectural refactoring method with its principle, benefits and potential tradeoffs. The next part consists of author's own examples where update mechanics from theory are applied. Final chapter evaluates achievement of objectives, contribution of thesis and proposals on how can this thesis be extended.
