Gastric tube nursing care at the newborns

The bachelor's thesis deals with the challenges of nursing care for gastric tubes in newborns hospitalized in perinatal centers. The theoretical part of this work provides an extensive overview of gastric enteral tubes, as well as indications and techniques for tube insertion in neonates. The aim of the practical part is to map nursing care and the techniques used when introducing and checking the position of gastric tubes. The research method of choice was a quantitative questionnaire survey a custom questionnaire. The survey was carried out in six perinatal centers out of total of twelve centers in the Czech Republic. These workplaces are: Institute for the care of mother and child, department of gynecology and obstetrics of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and General University Hospital in Prague, Hospital České Budějovice, a.s., Krajská zdravotní, a.s.- Hospital Most o.z., Motol University Hospital, Krajská zdravotní, a.s.- Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem. Nursing process in a patient with hydrocephalus

The present bachelor thesis is devoted to the nursing process and education in a patient with hydrocephalus. The aim of the thesis was to determine to what extent the disease affects the patient's quality of life, focusing on the period before and after the insertion of a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt. Furthermore, how the patient felt during the hospitalization, whether he was satisfied with the attitude of the staff, whether he was properly educated before and after surgery or before discharge to home care. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to a detailed description of the disease, its causes in neonatal, childhood and adulthood, symptoms of patients of all ages and treatment options. The empirical part of the thesis is based on quantitative research investigation, analysis of the obtained data and comparison of the results of the thesis with similar works. The research method chosen was a quantitative survey using a non-standardized questionnaire. Paliative care from the point of view of non-medical healthcare workers

This bachelor thesis describes dying from the view of nurses and compares implementing principles of paliative care of the dying patient lying on a hospital bed with care in a hospice. The goal of this work was to find out how nurses with practice in both types of institutions look at this care and what differences between them they recognize. The theoretical part involves definitions of basic notions and introduces the the whole themes of dying to the reader. Also basic principles, thoughts and values, that paliative medicine has and practices, will be mentioned. Further it submits basic information about history of this specialization in our country and also in the world, approaches typical expressions and problems of a dying patient and explains what specifics the hospice institutions have and what kind of care they provide. For the comparison, there will be also described how the paliative care for the patient in the terminal phase laying on a hospital bed is implemented. Knowledge and skills of nurses about modern way of treating non-healing wounds in pediatric patients

The bachelor's thesis "The knowledge and skills of nurses using modern ways to treat non- healing wounds in paediatric patients" deals with issues of difficult non-healing wounds occurring in children, their origin, their development and treatment. The goal of this thesis was to assess how much knowledge and skills nurses have in the field of professional treatment of wounds in children and its eventual measures to make an improvement of the patient's condition. The theoretical part brings an overview of reasons why wounds develop, their healing and current products that are used in the medical field for treatment. The empirical part summarizes the results of my own research and compares the results with other studies. To implement this thesis a questionnaire was made and distributed to selected wards in the Motol University Hospital. Into the study were included 71 fully completed questionnaires. After assessing the results a 100% success rate wasn't achieved by any nurse that partook in the study but it's obvious, they have certain knowledge about the matter. In conclusion, we accepted that this is a rare issue in paediatrics which needs to be researched further and correct procedures for nurses in practice need to be finalized.
Awareness of mothers in the care of physiological newborn

This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of care of the physiological newborn and the awareness of women (mothers) in the different areas of care. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the basic nursing interventions and steps in the care of the newborn from its arrival into the world, through the subsequent stay in the neonatal unit to its discharge to home care. In the introduction, basic concepts and definitions in the field of obstetrics and neonatology are defined. Attention is paid to the specific care of the newborn in the early postpartum period, the importance and significance of mutual cooperation between parents and medical staff during the hospital stay and all the necessary points of parental education after childbirth. The empirical part of the thesis presents results of my own investigation, data processing and comparison of my own results with results of previously conducted studies. Specifics of Nursing Care in Paediatric Patient after Hernia Surgery

The presented bachelor's thesis is focused on the specifics of nursing care of a pediatric patient after hernia surgery. In the theoretical part, the concepts such as nursing, the nursing process, and pediatric patient are characterized. Furthermore, the theoretical part contains a review of relevant knowledge concerning hernias, their general description, types of hernias, symptomatology, and therapy in pediatric patients. The empirical part of the thesis aims to compare nursing care standards following hernia surgery in selected university hospitals. A quantitative questionnaire survey using a non-standardized questionnaire was chosen as a research method. The questionnaire survey was conducted at Thomayer University Hospital, Motol University Hospital, and Bulovka University Hospital. A total of 64 questionnaires were analyzed, of which 54 were in electronic form and 10 in printed form. The return rate of these questionnaires was 100 %. The research results showed that individual nursing standards differ by department only minimally, for example in patient monitoring after surgery, or in the length of patinet's hospitalization after hernia surgery. The bachelor thesis Chronic wound care - shin ulcer deals with the issue of chronic wounds focusing on tibial ulcers. The aim of the thesis was: To collect data on treatment options for and to study the available resources. To obtain data from the database "Care of the patient with a non-healing wound" at the University Hospital in Motol. These data were then assessed and statistically processed. To calculate a qualified estimate of the burden of nursing staff related to the care of patients with shin ulcer in internal medicine units, surgical units and in general in the University Hospital in Motol. The theoretical part of the thesis gives a basic overview of the problem. The empirical part of the thesis presents the results of the own investigation and their comparison with the results of previously conducted studies. Experience with volunteers from the perspective of nurses

Aim: The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to map and evaluate the experience of nurses with volunteers who come to selected inpatient wards at the Motol University Hospital, and to assess whether the experience of nurses with volunteers is rather positive or negative. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part contains a basic definition of the concepts of volunteering, in healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic and abroad. The empirical part deals with the research investigation itself. Methods: The research was carried out in the form of a non-standardized questionnaire, which contained twenty-three questions. This questionnaire was distributed to selected respondents, specifically to nurses in selected departments of the University Hospital in Motol. Data collection took place from December 2022 until the beginning of March 2023. Results: A total of fifty-seven fully completed questionnaires were obtained from the nurses. In the questionnaire, 82.46 % of the nurses evaluated the involvement of volunteers in care positively, 15.79 % rather agreed with the positive experience. The effect of diabetes type I on activities of daily living in children

The Bachelor's thesis on the topic "Influence of type I diabetes mellitus on activities of daily life" is focused on the daily activities of children with type I diabetes mellitus, or diabetes. This disease is typical for childhood and its incidence is currently increasing. The aim of the work is to find out whether diabetes affects the activities of daily life in children and to investigate more closely in which areas and to what extent. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part focuses on current knowledge about the disease, the history of the disease, its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, activities of daily life, familiarization with the concept of self- sufficiency, self-care and children's needs. For research in the empirical part, was used a self- constructed questionnaire, which contained twenty-five items and was answered by sixty- seven respondents from the Pediatric Clinic at the Motol University Hospital, aged nine to eighteen. Sudden infant death syndrome is a timeless topic that, although it has been studied in sufficient depth, still represents an unexplained and unanswered problem in medicine. The aim of the work is to bring a comprehensive summary of the issue of sudden infant death syndrome and its prevention and to examine the knowledge of nurses regarding knowledge of this issue and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in infants. Another goal was to compare the level of knowledge found among nurses in selected departments. The bachelor thesis has two parts. The theoretical part is focused on basic information about sudden infant death syndrome, current recommendations regarding prevention and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The practical part includes quantitative research of its own construction in the form of questionnaire survey focused on nurses' knowledge of sudden infant death syndrome, its prevention, and knowledge of first aid in the event of the need to start cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
