Trade unions in civic sector

This thesis deals with position of trade unions in civic sector. The thesis offer for reader review of questions about trade unions, meet with different views, theories and connections. The first chapter is introductory link to second chapter which explains basic terms like social partnership, social dialog and his structure, tripartism, trade unions and collective agreement. The third chapter attempt to chart developement of trade unions till the time of Habsburc monarchy to presents emphasis on work of trade unions during the transformation time. The fourth chapter describes intermediar system alias system of representation interests, his structure, periods, different models and theory of corporativism. The fifth chapter deals with position of trade unions within market, state and civic sector. The sixth chapter is focusing on confrontation of trade unions with choice countries of European Union in the concrete with Austria and Slovakia.
Contextualizing Student Political Participation: Comparison of the Czech Republic and East and West Germany

Democracy cannot exist without active and responsive citizens. However, the character of political participation of the young generation has changed. Given the decreasing willingness of young people to participate in conventional politics, a highly relevant issue is to examine the sources and motivations of their political commitment and relations to politics. Therefore, the dissertation traces the political trajectories of young Czech and German activists and focuses on the contextual and sociopsychological factors that shape them. The aim of the text is to answer the main research question: 'How and why do Czech and German university students get involved in political and civic organisations?' Firstly, the thesis examines the role of primary and secondary political socialisation in different societal contexts. It provides an understanding of the key mechanisms and narratives of family political socialisation. Attention is also paid to the influence of civic education, peers and teachers at secondary and grammar schools, as well as to the impact of the university environment on political activism. This deliverable combines qualitative and quantitative survey methods to provide an analysis of communication channels and patterns between policy makers, stakeholders (i.e. companies), and citizens in the areas of security and risk in regards to three specific areas – air transport, public transport, and critical national infrastructure in ten countries. Analysis focuses on the trade-offs among security, privacy, health and personal dignity.

This deliverable presents a comparative analysis of discourses and justifications of security and risk in newspapers in ten countries both within EU (Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland) and outside of the EU (Mexico, the USA) as well as in four security expert blogs. Deliverable analyses channels and patterns of communication and risk prevention for specific target groups.

Government's policy towards national minorities in Slovakia

The thesis deals with the government's policy towards national minorities in Slovakia after 1993. It focuses on policies towards the two most populous minorities in Slovakia (Hungarian and Roma minority) mainly in two key spheres -- culture and education. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the development of the minority policy towards Hungarians and Roma people and to asses individual factors that causes its changes. The goal is also to compare the approach of government coalitions towards these two minorities. The continuity of these policies is mainly observed. Policies can be influenced by internal and external factors. International organizations -- Council of Europe, European Union and OSCE -- and Hungarians are set as external factors and different government coalition in Slovakia as internal. Last question that thesis deals with is if the triadic nexus (as characterized by Rogers Brubaker) between nationalism of Slovak government, Hungary and Hungarian minority in Slovakia can influence also minority policy towards Roma. Despite all these factors that have an influence on government's minority policy after 1993 in Slovakia, it is continual.

The study addresses on the analysis of existing institutional structures of interest mediation between individuals, social groups and the society, analysis of existing forms of mediation and their effectiveness. The mediation process in explored from the point of view of spheres, in which it takes place, through which it is implemented, and its actors.
Kontent analysis of the Czech party manifestos

The article presents the results of the analysis of party manifestos, prepared by Czech political parties which were elected to the Parliament in five democratic elections, started with 1990 election. For the analysis and coding of party manifestos was used the methodology developed and used by ECPR Manifesto Research Group (European Consortium for Political Research).
