What is the function and the application of TANDETRON accelerator?

The main task of contribution was to introduce new unique equipment which was attracted by journalists also. New accelerator TANDETRON enables wide range of applications of ion beams in new technologies. The laboratory of TANDETRON joined several parts of material research. The interdisciplinary research is nowadays the most growing and progressive discipline. The main goal of this publication was to show the application of ion beams and accelerators. This should contribute to the change of laic negative point of view on this discipline.

Trip into the atomic nuclei and back

Several examples of applications of the nuclear physics are presented in this article. Nuclear and subnuclear physics enables us to describe the fundamental level of existence of matter and to contribute to the research and development of new materials and technologies simultaneously. Radioizotopes nowadays are very helpful in diagnostics and therapy of cancer. The main task of this article was introducing of nuclear physics as a broad research discipline with fundamental results and also functional applications.

New possibilities of nuclear analytical methods using accelerator Tandetron 4130 in Nuclear Physics Institute of ASCR

The new accelerator (unique in Czech Republic) makes realisable to fundamentally develop the present analytical possibility and to put on the new technique of material modification and synthesising of advanced materials and structures. We report on new analytical methods - RBS-channeling, ERDA-TOF, ion microprobe. These methods give us opportunity to study crystalline materials in interstitial positions, to achieve the lateral resolution less than 1 micrometer and the depth resolution better than 1 nm. New accelerator produces wide range of ion masses, so the ion implantation is very important material modification technique.
