Descriptor lists for irises, peonies and daylilies in the Průhonice Botanic Garden

In 2015, the Council of Plants Genetic Resources agreed to include genus Hemerocallis (daylily) and genus Paeonia (peony) into the collections of genetic resources of the National Program. In addition to the selection of plants suitable for the National Program, we started to prepare descriptor lists for these genera in cooperation with students of the Department of Horticulture Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources Czech University of Life Science, Prague. The descriptor list was supposed to cover botanical characteristics of wild species as well as the advanced garden ornamental varieties, because the species of peonies and daylilieas are medicinal plants and it is therefore appropriate to incorporate them in the National Program. At the same time, it turned out that the descriptor list used for Iris is intended primarily for bearded irises (Iris subgen. Iris). However, in the last twenty years, the Czech breeders have specialized also in other groups of irises, especially in Siberian and Japanese irises and Spuria group, which don’t have any beard on outer tepals and have other differerent characteristics from the subgenus Iris. Therefore, we have decided to extend the existing descriptor list to cover the whole genus except bulb irises.

Social protection as a sub-sector of critical infrastructure in the Czech Republic and within selected EU member states

The thesis deals with the mapping of social protection as an element of critical infrastructure in selected EU countries (Czech Republic, Ireland, Sweden) and how the information obtained can be used to improve the area of social protection for the purposes of critical infrastructure in the Czech Republic. The thesis takes a comprehensive approach and introduces the issues under the examination via the first three subchapters of the theoretical part of the thesis, where it provides insight into social protection and critical infrastructure at both the EU and national level. Within the research, desk research was applied, the specifics of social protection regulation as part of critical infrastructure of all selected countries were evaluated and a SWOT analysis was performed for the Czech Republic. Recommendations arising from the work include the differentiation of infrastructure into multiple levels according to its importance, following the Irish model, which would prevent easy identification of critical infrastructure elements and would increase their security in the future. The second recommendation is to implement measures to increase the preparedness of the social protection authority for future crises. The initial direction of the responsibility outside of the standard structure of social protection institutions caused that (compared to other countries compared) the Czech Republic did not react to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the field of social protection in a sufficiently flexible manner. An interesting finding then is the similar focus of protection of social protection infrastructure in Ireland and the Czech Republic, which includes the systems that ensure the payment of social protection benefits. Regarding the regulation of the classification of social protection in the critical infrastructure sector in the Member States compared, the Czech Republic's regulation under Government Regulation No 432/2010 Coll. makes sense. Social protection is classified under the public administration sector and largely follows the general division of the social protection system.

Saint Zdislava of Lemberk and Saint Elizabeth of Hungary

The work presents the life of both saints Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia, and also the external context, which largely affected their lives. Saints are described here in their wide range, both through our history and the history of European nations. The structure's work corresponds to a defined plan. The first chapter deals with the contemporary background and major events that occurred just before their birth and their lives. The following two chapters depict Zdislava own and Elizabeth's life, their work. The next chapter describes the work of saints in the social field. The fifth chapter is devoted to a comparison of the two saints with Saint Agnes. The last chapter contains evaluation figures Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia and their significance for today. The concept of the work is based on the conviction that the stereotypes describing the lives of the saints can be overcame. The author seeks a new perspective on the work and life of both saints - Zdislava and Elisabeth. Designing of new classifiers for peony, daylilies and non-bearded irises in the Průhonice botanic garden.

With accepting new genera (Hemerocallis, Paeonia, Iris subgen. Limniris) into National Program for Genetic Resources, a need for creating new classifiers for cultivar description has risen. When proposing classification characteristics, we have resulted from botanical monographies of the genera, existing classifiers and from experience in cultivar description. In creating and evaluation of the classifier we have cooperated with leading institution, Gene Bank of Crop Research Institute, and Department of Horticulture (FAFNR) at Czech University of Life Sciences, which has submitted it as a diploma and a bachelor thesis. New classifiers will be published in 2019 in GRIN Czech database.

Models of public family support by cash benefits. Comparative study of models in the Czech Republic, Finland and United Kingdom This thesis is a comparative study of different models of welfare available for the family unit in the Czech Republic, Finland and in the United Kingdom. It considers many different aspects, and in the first two chapters looks at what characterizes a family, the social strcutures that influenced the formation of the family unit, and existing European principles which formed the basis upon which family assistance was modeled. These principles are divided into solidarity, citizenship, corporate, and liberal. The ensuing chapters discuss family politics within the individual states. Chapters are divided into parts such as historic, present and organization of public family policy. Public welfare in the Czech Republic focuses on low-income households and distributing income assistance from public funds. In Finland family welfare is focused mainly on ensuring the healthy development development of children, which is made possible through financial assistance, family leave and programs offering help for families. In Great Britain, public policy is geared towards relief for the poor, which occurs through tested financial support for the family unit. The practical section of the thesis...
