Integrity breach analysis of storage tank using FEM
Ševčík, Martin ; Vincour, Dušan (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
This master thesis is focused on computational modelling of critical external as well as internal pressure acting of the repaired tank. During cleaning of pipelines, the gas mixture entered into this storage tank causing loss of integrity in the connection between the roof and the shell. The first part of the thesis is focused on check calculation of the shell in exceptional conditions. The next part describes the repair of the tank including check of the pillar according to ČSN EN 1993 1 1 and ČSN EN 1993-1-6. The main part of the thesis is focused on determination of the buckling resistances of the tank in original as well as repaired state using ANSYS Mechanical software. The results are comparable with original tank, whose buckling resistance was not decreased due to the repair.
Influence of residual stress on pressure vessel part fatigue life
Boleloucký, Václav ; Vincour, Dušan (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the impact of a residual stress, caused by an applied cyclic pressure, on fatigue life of a pressure vessel part (flat end–cylinder connection). Bachelor’s thesis includes the design of the pressure vessel according to CSN EN 13 445 regulations, analytical solution in Maple software, from which stresses and deformations are determined. Then the results of the analytical approach are firstly verified by a FEM modelling in ANSYS Workbench software and secondly compared to each other in graphs and discussed. From the values of stresses in FEM, analysis fatigue life expectations are calculated with the respect to CSN EN 13 445 regulations, for two cases. First one, where a pressure test is applied and second one, where the pressure test is not applied before the pressure vessel is put into service. In the conlusion the obtained results are discussed.
Design of collector
Podhorský, Michal ; Létal, Tomáš (referee) ; Horsák, Libor (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to make the design of the collector. The work is divided into two parts. The first part will analyze the individual parts of the collector and its analytical calculation using the EN 12 952, ČSN 69 0010 and ASME I. The second part is focuses on the verification of the analytical calculation using the FEM in ANSYS and explore the most dangerous places. The result is also creating drawings documentations.
Development of structural analysis software
Michálková, Anežka ; Buzík, Jiří (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with a development of software for strength analysis of truss and beam elements using the Finite Element Method. Firstly, this thesis introduces basic theory of this method which is necessary for development of the software. Next part of the thesis discusses the software itself. Essential feature of development of the software was to transform mathematical theory to uncomplicated algorithms which are explained in the thesis. Last part is dedicated to comparison of the strength analysis results gained from the developed software and from ANSYS Workbench.
Design of separator
Bukal, Oldřich ; Létal, Tomáš (referee) ; Nekvasil, Richard (advisor)
Diploma thesis is focused on design and strenght calculation of the separator according to ČSN EN 13 445. Introductory part introduce problems with design of separators, in the other parts there is a design and strenght calculation of separator according to ČSN EN 14 445, unfired pressure vessels, part 3 - Design, FEM analysis in ANSYS Workbench and stress categorization of the results.
Flange design software according to ČSN EN 13445
Schütz, Stanislav ; Lošák, Pavel (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
The goal of this work is to create a simple portable software for stress analysis of gasketed flange connections according to ČSN EN 13445 - Unfired pressure vessels. The programming language Python was chosen for the programming and the program was created in IDE called Eclipse. The thesis includes: literature search in order to get some insight into the theme of stress calculations of flanges, a description of the strength calculation according to the Standard mentioned above and a description of the created program including its debugging. The main output is software called Imhotep. It comes in two forms – as a module executable via Python and a portable .exe version.
Design of tank container for storage of petroleum products
Bezděk, Lukáš ; Nekvasil, Richard (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
This diploma thesis presents design of oil storage container type ISO 1CC. The container is designed according to ISO standards. The standards prescribe or limit some of the container dimensions, other dimensions are derived from specific purpose of the container. The container can be considered either as a transport container (empty) or as a stationary tank (full). Therefore, the load conditions are given by ISO for transport containers in the first case and by ČSN EN for the latter. The goal is to design and evaluate various container designs by FEM (finite-element method) analysis.
Deformation and damage of tube bundle bends due to temperature
Michálková, Anežka ; Pernica, Marek (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with the problem of determining the thermal load of cross-flow tube bundle bends in steam superheater. Firstly, the theoretical basis of computational fluid dynamics and finite element method is introduced, and the possible methods of creep damage evaluation are presented as it was assumed that creep damage would be the most significant damage mechanism. The next part of this thesis describes simulations in ANSYS Fluent to determine values of heat transfer coefficients and ANSYS Mechanical to obtain temperature field and stresses. Based on the determined temperature field and stresses, a creep lifetime calculation according to ČSN EN 12952-4 is performed. Then creep design check for operating time 200 000 hours was carried out according to ČSN EN 13445-3. It was determined that in this case the tube bends are not the critical spot in comparison with the straight sections of tubes.
Design of container for oil product storage
Mifek, Roman ; Nekvasil, Richard (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
Purpose of submitted thesis is design of container for oil product storage. First part introduce with issue of tank containers and their type division. Next part aims on tank containers with angular inner vessel and their utilization opportunities. In final part of this work, there is made design of container and strength analysis by final element method, using software ANSYS Workbench. Annex includes design documentation.
Design of a two-phase separator
Brančan, Peter ; Pernica, Marek (referee) ; Létal, Tomáš (advisor)
Design of a two-phase separator according to the model assignment for separation of natural gas and crude oil. Material selection and checkup for functionality on this process equipment. Emphasis is on selection of dimensions according to mathematical model of mixture sepation. Design is also considering safety of the vessel. Dimensions of separator are optimalized to the lowest possible price of a vessel, while maintaining functionality and required safety of a pressure vessel. Separator is designed according to the standart ČSN EN 13445. Iteretion programs in computational software MATLAB were created to make calculations easier. Programs were created for calculations of separator’s dimensions, nozzles and their reinforcing pads, checking calculations of the vessel and its nozzles and calculations of flanges.
