Predisposing factors of recurrent vulvovaginal candidasis IV.
Stopková, Eva ; Jílek, Petr (advisor) ; Kestřánek, Jan (referee)
1 Abstract Diploma thesis deals with recurrent vulvovaginal dyscomfort, which is most common problem solved in gynecologist's office. At least once within the lifespan troubles these disease more than 75% women. Five to 10% percent of female population in the fertile age has repeated attacks of colpitis. This study involved university students (n = 145). Incidence of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) like dyscomfort in was 11%. The goal of this study was the determination of predisposing factors with help of questionnaire based search. Each questionnaire comprises 49 structured questions. The return ratio was 72,8%. The RVVC group involved women, who reported 4 and more episodes of vulvar dyscomfort (itching, swelling, burning or discharge) in the last year or in at least in one of last four years. The control group represented 42 women (28, 9%) with no history of any symptoms mentioned above. By evaluation of the questionnaire we have described number of factors, which increase risk of RVVC, these are primarily: diet high in sugar, continuous use of panty-liners in time outside of menses, taking a long hot shower, wearing tight trousers, smoking of cigarettes, higher number of sexual partners, shaving of pubic hair for the most part, higher frequency of sexual intercourses, non-coital sexual...

Chronic vulvovaginal discomfort and quality of vaginal environment
Kestřánek, Jan ; Špaček, Jiří (advisor) ; Unzeitig, Vít (referee) ; Hořejší, Jan (referee)
"Chronic vulvovaginal discomfort and quality of vaginal enviroment" Vulvovaginal discomfort (VVD) is not a life-threatening disease, however, its impact on quality of life is enormous. The causes of the origins of the chronic form are not provably clarified. OBJECTIVES OF THE THESIS: The first aim of this thesis has been to make an attempt to reveal the etiology of chronic vulvovaginal discomfort (CVD), to characterize a group of patients with CVD and refer it to the quality of vaginal environment. The second aim has been an evaluation of a questionnaire, which had been focused on probable causal factors of CVD. The third part is experimental, focused on the issue of quorum sensing molecule (QSM) and manosa-binding lectin (MBL) polymofrisms. METHODS: The data for all three parts of the study were gained at the outpatient's department for CVD by examinig and following CVD patients. A questionnaire was used when investigating the probable CVD factors. RESULTS: The study has proved that we come across the idiopatic form of CVD in most cases. According to the results, the issue concerns mainly women at productive age, in most cases healthy, without an evident trigger moment. The study has also shown that the most noticeable finding in CVD patients is an absence of lactobacillus proved when performing a...
The influence of stress and life satisfaction of chronic vulvovaginal candidiasis
Hájková, Lucie ; Jílek, Petr (advisor) ; Kestřánek, Jan (referee)
1 SUMMARY In this study we are dealing with the effect of stress and life satisfaction on recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC). Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is one of the most frequent genital infections. It is hypothesized that 75% of women experience during their reproductive age at least 1 episode of VVC in their lifetime. RVVC can be defined as four or more attacks of symptomatic vulvovaginal candidiasis in 12 month period. The true incidence of RVVC remains unknown. Estimates over many years suggest that the incidence is approximately 5%; another recent study shows that the incidence is approximately 8% of women during their reproductive age. Our previous study suggests that the incidence is approximately 7.6%. There were elaborate questionnaires, including a questionnaire on life satisfaction and the level of vulnerability by stress, made for the purpose of this study. Each questionnaire consists of 17 pages and includes 49 questions. Full text of the questionnaire is showed in enclosure. The questionnaire consisted of 15 questions in the bold frames that were tailor-made just for women, who have repeatedly experienced episodes of vulvovaginal candidiasis. A sample of 199 women was interviewed, 184 of them completed our questionnaire (which is 92.5%). By evaluation of questions in the bold...

Vulvovaginal dyscomfort - causal factors
Leierová, Vanda ; Jílek, Petr (advisor) ; Kestřánek, Jan (referee)
Univerzita Karlova v Praze - Farmaceutická fakulta v Hradci Králové Diplomová práce Vanda Leierová Vulvovovaginální dyskomfort - příčinné faktory Abstract This thesis deals with causal factors of vulvovaginal dyscomfort, respec- tively its repeated subset, recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. However, VVD isn't life-threatening disease, it can substantially decrease the quality of life. Together with prenatal care, VVD is one of the most frequent cause of visiting gynecologist in sexually active women. BACKGROUND: RVVC is defined by at least tree confirmed attacks within one year, respectively at least four confirmed attacks within life. It is considered to be one of the most common vaginal infections. Approximately two thirds of women suffer from vulvovaginal candidiasis at least once in a lifetime. By 50% of woman patients, subsequent episode appears from 3 days to 3 months after last treat- ment. Causal factors haven't been verifiably clarified yet. The objective is to evaluate questionnaire survey's data, find associations between life-style and having RVVD and summarize all the knowledge about causal factors of RVVC, respectively RVVD. A total of 71 women were enrolled. Vulvovaginal dyscomfort was clinically and laboratory identified in 39 women, the rest 32 women deny symptoms of RVVC and were used as...
