The history of the state statistical service - 1919 – 2014

The publication provides readers with a brief insight into the history of Czech statistics and acquaints them with the activities performed by the statistical office. In addition to the history of our statistics from the time of the First Republic, through the difficult period of World War II and the totalitarian regime to its transformation after 1989, the reader will learn what are the strategies, visions and priorities of the CSO with a view to 2020.

Chrudim region in the half of 17th century - demographic and social structure

The aim of the submitted thesis is to give an overall picture of the demographic structure of the population of the Chrudim region after the end of the Thirty Years War as recorded in the List of Serfs according to Faith of 1651. Each individual was listed according to name, occupation or relationship to household head, age and religious status. The List recorded 46 626 persons of the Chrudim region. This List did not avoid the rounding-off the age of the people and failed to record consistently the infant part of the population. One of the main aims is to provide an estimate of the child component of the population. The basic prerequisite for estimating the number of children under the age of 12 was that women (men) of the same age in various parts of the estates had on average the same or at least a similar number of children in the individual age groups. Mathematical models eliminating rounding the age of the people consist in formalisation of thinking the way people could rounding their age. One possibility is hypothesis that closer their real age was to some favourite age (multiples 10, 5, even numbers) so much the more they rounded their age for this favourite values. The aim of this work, after collecting and studying available materials, is to describe, analyze and judge the statistical activity of Karel Engliš. The work is based on an analysis of his statistical articles, publications and a modest literature of this theme. Two opening chapters are dedicated to the official statistic in first quarter of 20th century and the biography of Karel Engliš.
The Road to Creation of the Provincial Statistical Office in Bohemia and its Activities

The bachelor's thesis presents the Provincial Statistical Office of Bohemian Kingdom and the circumstances that led to its establishment. The thesis is completed by numerous citations and illustrations of that time which help a reader to understand why the statistics emerged and afterwards developed. Moreover, it gives an idea of the difficult beginnings of statistical researches. The main contribution of the thesis is the provision of a compact idea of the activity and functioning of the Provincial Statistical Office of Bohemian Kingdom and its publications. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to origins of administrative statistics in the Habsburg Monarchy and personalities who contributed to its development. The following part focuses on the provincial statistics in Bohemia and primarily on the establishment of the Provincial Statistical Office of Bohemian Kingdom. Furthermore, there is a synopsis, which describes the activity of the Office until the establishment of the State Statistical Office in Czechoslovakia. There is given a detailed description of the methods and the course of statistical research and of the difficulties related to them. The end of the chapter describes the activity of the Office during the First World War and its influence on the statistics of that time.
International migration in the Czech republic and its specific aspects

This thesis provides an overview of the development of international migration in the Czech Republic to determine the aspects affecting migration. The Czech Republic has become a destination country for many immigrants, not only from the European Union, but also from countries outside the European union. The main goal of this paper is to outline the development of migration movements in the Czech republic before 1989 and in the context of legislative and methodological changes that occurred after 1989. The paper also describes the changes in international migration movements between 2002 -- 2012 in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. These countries belong to the alliance called the Visegrad four. In recent years, they became a new place of migration flows, particularly from countries with less developed economies. The aim is to determine the evolution of selected indicators of migration to identify connections between the selected countries given to their common historical and legal aspects.
The Nuptiality and divorces - Progress from 1970 to these days and comparison with advanced states of EU

The Bachelor's Thesis is focused to the analysis of nuptiality and divorces since 1970. This thesis explains a both demographic processes, indicators and theirs levels and structures. The progress of marriages and divorces is shown by specifically indicators since 1970 to these days. Work outlines existence of seasonality in nuptiality by month and days in week. These present values help to compare with other European country and help to find out condition of Czech Republic. In conclusion, Thesis mentions financial instruments to increase motivation and amount of marriages.
Foreigners and their impact on the economy of Czech republic

The aim of this bachelor thesis is based on available and acquired data to bring issues concerning foreigners in the Czech Republic. Analysis of the number of foreigners, the number of residence permits and their integration into Czech society are very important factors in the knowledge that immigration is becoming the only option while maintaining the reproduction of population and the consequent sustainability of economic activity. A very important part is to get an overview of the possibilities of foreigners and their subsequent opportunities in the labour market. The most important objective of this work is to provide a comprehensive view of the issue of foreigners in the Czech Republic, in terms of integration, family behaviour and their employment. Furthermore, this work investigates the impact, although positive or negative, foreigners on the Czech economy.
Employment of foreigners in the Czech republic

The aim of this thesis is to provide an overview of foreigners employment in the Czech republic in a broader context and to describe retrospectively the main demographics characteristics. The first part deals with the definition of basic concept related to employment of foreigners in the Czech republic, legislation and its amendments and last but not least deals with the relations between economic development and employment of foreigners on the Czech labour market. Mentioned are also problems with data sources and distortions in the statistics. The next part deals with the demographic analysis of foreigners in the Czech Republic, their employment and establish the link with economic development. More attention is paid to the five most common citizenship of foreigners in the Czech Republic. In this work, emphasis is placed on linking analysis of employment in terms of demographics with economic development, political and legislative processes and the basic characteristics of foreigners in the Czech Republic.
