The presented dissertation draws materially on the preserved literary and library estate of the Czech writer and journalist Josef Václav Frič (1829-1890), locally divided and so far not sorted, with the aim of creating a basis for future work with the entire fund in the widest possible range of areas, from the orientation aids to research and scientific. It contains lists of Frič's manuscripts, preserved monuments and archived documents, deposited in the Literary Archive of the Museum of National Literature in Prague, a catalog of Frič's personal library, stored in the National Museum Library in Prague, with a detailed description of provenance, and a detailed bibliography. Conception of Milan Kundera's novel

S U M M A R Y The Bachelor's thesis on the topic of The conception of Milan Kuderas's novel consists of two parts. The main aim of the first part is to demonstrate the novel as a literary genre, acquaints with Kudera's opinion of the novel ad clarifies the term "kitsch" in literature. The second part of the Bachelor's thesis is focused on the Kundera's novels. Reveals their themes and motives, which often shows up in the more novels. Letters, imperfection of interpersonal communication, crisis human identity etc. Kundera's novels are returning to the past, however the presence plays an important role. Every age has its pros and cons and Kundera shows through his characters' actions both poles. The Bachelor's thesis deals with not only Czech written novels, but also Kundera's novels written in French.
The Italian Romantic Polemic

This master thesis discusses the roots, concepts and the subsequent interpretations of the so- called "romantic discussion", which took place in Italy between the years 1816-1826. Based on the overview of selected debate entries and their critical interpretations, we will try to explain the relatively scarce attention paid to the Italian romanticism by critics outside of Italy. The polemic on romanticism started with the article "On the Manner and Usefulness of Translations" by Madame de Stael, in which the author as a solution to the crisis affecting Italian literature suggested to translate more of French and German production, as it already reflected the upcoming romantic aesthetics. This modest proposal sparked a fierce debate which gradually dealt not only with the question of adopting foreign cultural impulses, but also with need to redefine the roots of Italian cultural traditions and build a modern Italian identity. The most important responses to Madame de Staël's article - written by Ludovico di Breme, Giovanni Berchet and Pietro Borsieri - are now considered "manifestos" of Italian romanticism. V následujících řádcích se zaměříme na žánrový statut literárního zpracování cesty - cestopisu, a to se zvláštním zřetelem ke zpracování cesty do Itálie v české literatuře. Klademe si otázku, čím je toto literární zpracování specifické jakožto žánr či podžánr a jaké jsou určující rysy poetiky takového cestopisu. Z této práce by mělo vyvstat komplexní panorama žánru, prozkoumaného z různých úhlů pohledu. Svou práci pojímáme především jako teoretickou, ale pro připojujeme k ní i vzorový rozbor jednoho díla české literatury 20. století, jež je podle nás typickým představitelem žánru, jejž zkoumáme: Řím Josefa Svatopluka Machara (1906). Metodologicky vycházíme z prací inspirovaných strukturalismem a historickou poetikou, nevyhýbáme se však ani novější literatuře naratologické.
The king and the pilgrim. To the question of the identity of the characters in the Italian novels of the 20th century

This work is focussed on the question of problematic identity of literary characters. The characters are chosen from the modern italian novels to show the theme of crisis of a human identity as a constitutive element for the literature of the twentieth century. The first novel which is being interpreted and compared is "Un re umorista" by modernist Alberto Cantoni. The main character of this novel is the king of noname country who feels his "king's" identity as a role, only a mask. He considered himslef as two different persons, but one of them, the king, is not authentic, real. The second novel, called Il fu Mattia Pascal by Luigi Pirandello, is the story of the identity as a social sign and its loss. The identity of human being in Pirandello's conception is closely linked with a society and its rules and law. To have an identity means to be a part of society, community, family and the only meaning of identity is the social meaning. Mattia Pascal lose his identity when he is said to be dead. At fisrt he finds his situation as a challenge and new chance to be free, to start a new life and create it from basis on his own. He made a new identity for himself with a fictitious past and name. French reception of Czech written novels by Milan Kundera

The thesis deals with French acceptance of and reaction to Czech written novels by Milan Kundera which were published in France between 1979 and 1990. The thesis presents French reception of three books: The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, The Unbearable Lightness of being and Immortality. We are approching the pieces by applying the receptional and aestetical theory. The aim is to present that one work can be read in many ways, then we illustrate concretely how the opinions of the reviewers differ, how they comprehend the novels and how they describe them. The thesis is divided into ten parts. There is an introduction, the second part (theoretic base), the third part (short presentation of French press), three big parts named after three novels, whose French reception we are dealing with, a conclusion, a summary in Czech, a summary in English and a bibliography. Each of the three big chapters is also divided into smaller chapters, in which we subdivide the reception of literary context, the reception of genre, characters, themes and composition and also the evaluation of author and his novel. The first one is a monograph on baron Vivant Denon, an important figure of the cultural life in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the author of Point de Lendemain, two travelogues, Voyage dans la Basse et la Haute Égypte and Voyage en Sicile, but, primarily, Napoleon's advisor in the field of fine art and the first director of The Louvre. The introductory pages of the thesis deal with the reception of Denon's works. There is a certain flux in the perception of Denon's oeuvre which has given rise to a range of interesting issues. Tato práce si klade za cíl analyzovat vztah koltesovské dramatiky k tradici francouzského klasicistního divadla, konkrétně k dílu Jeana Racina. Nebude se přitom zabývat úplně všemi Koltesovými hrami, nýbrž jen těmi, které vznikly v jeho hlavním tvůrčím období mezi lety 1977 a 1989, tedy hrami V lesích před příchodem noci (La Nuit juste avant les forets), Boj černocha se psy (Combat de negre et de chiens), Západní přístav (Quai ouest), V samotě bavlníkových polí (Dans la soUtude des champs de coton), Návrat do pouště (Le Retour au désert) a Roberto Zucco. Ostatně Koltes sám se ke své předchozí tvorbě příliš nehlásil, doslova o ní řekl: ,,Les anciennes pieces, je ne les aime plus, je n'ai plus envie de les voir monter. J'avais ľimpression d'écrire du théa-tre d'avant-garde ; en fait, elles étaient surtout informelles, tres élémentaires.
