OPTIMIZATION OF CONDITIONS FOR DETERMINATION OF BOTTOM SEDIMENT SORPTION CHARACTERISTICS ABSTRACT An option of this study was to optimize conditions of distribution coefficients determination in the water-sediment system. The study results will be applied in the task A research on influence of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant accident on the Vltava and Labe water environment contamination to the border profile Labe - Hřensko. After finding optimal conditions for sorption experiments, these will be applied on the experiments using real sediment samples and corresponding surface water extracted from different localities of Vltava River, Labe River respectively. A goal of the whole project is to contribute to creation of a crisis scenario of potential accident of Temelin Nuclear Power Plant and its impact on Vltava and Labe water environments. Above all, the aim is to answer the question which processes would take place in dams and basins during the contamination by fission and activation products, whether and which products would be preferably adsorbed and would consequently settle down and which would supposedly be transported to the lower parts of the watershed. Study of 137Cs, 90Sr and 3H behaviour in hydrosphere in vicinity of Nuclear Power Plant Temelin

The thesis focuses on an analysis of the results of long-term monitoring of the concentrations of 137Cs, 90Sr and 3H in hydrosphere in the vicinity of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant. The monitoring was carried out during the period 1990-2008 subsequently in several projects, which include Research of impacts of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant on hydrosphere and other components of the environment (National project no. N 03-331-867), Research on impacts of nuclear facilities on the environment (VaV/510/1/96), Strategy and methodology of integrated studies of long-term trends in landscape development in close and wide vicinity of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant (VaV/640/8/03), Programme on monitoring and assessment of impacts of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant on the environment, and Monitoring for Czech Power Works, a.s., Nuclear Power Plant. The thesis was carried out in T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute, public research institution. The radionuclides were monitored in surface water, river sediments, aquatic flora and fish species. Behaviour of radioactive substances in the Vltava and Elbe Rivers during nuclear accident Ing. Eva Juranová Supervisor: Ing. Eduard Hanslík, CSc. Abstract This work is focused in the research of the behaviour of radioactive substances released into the hydrosphere of the Vltava River and the subsequent Elbe stretch during a severe accident at the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant. The background values of anthropogenic radionuclides in surface water, residual contamination after the Chernobyl accident and after atmospheric tests of nuclear weapons, were evaluated using two methods and these methods were compared. The migration of the accidental radioactive contaminants in the watercourse would be mainly influenced by their ability to sorb onto the solid phase in the hydrosphere. Therefore, the sorption of particular anthropogenic radionuclides onto bottom sediments and solids suspended in the water column was monitored and evaluated at several sites along the Vltava and the Elbe Rivers. Furthermore, the possibility of using tritium, which is discharged during normal operation of the Temelín power plant, as tracers for the purposes of modelling the migration of pollution, was assessed.

Antropogenní tlaky na stav půd‚ vodní zdroje a vodní ekosystémy v české části mezinárodního povodí Labe: Migrace škodlivých látek v povodí Labe (Radionuklidy – tritium)

Jsou uvedena data objemové aktivity tritia, která popisují bilance tritia v profilech Vltava Solenice, Vltava Praha-Podolí a Labe Hřensko. Bylo zjišťováno pozadí tritia na území povodí Labe v povrchových vodách nezatížených odpadními vodami z bodových zdrojů (JE Temelín, ÚJV Řež). Byla zjišťována možnost snížení minimální detekované aktivity tritia (MDA) u vzorků pozadí. byly vyhodnoceny roční odtoky aktivity tritia v hodnocených profilech po odečtení odtoku tritia odpovídající pozadí. Byl zkoumán spad tritia (HTO) na území českého úseku povodí Labe se srážkami. Byl hodnocen vliv kontaminace Labe tritiem na změny objemové aktivity tritia ve vodě z břehové infiltrace ve vybrané modelové lokalitě. Byla provedena bilance aktivity tritia v hodnocených profilech na základě sledování a údajů o bilanci aktivity tritia uvolňované s odpadními vodami JE Temelín. Jsou uvedeny články vzešlé z projektu.

Zpráva obsahuje popis použité metodiky a výsledky sledování v těchto oblastech řešení: 1. Vývoj odběru pitných vod a referenční stav na vodárnách a ČOV v okolí ETE, 2. Zabezpečenost dodávky a vývoj kvality technologické a odpadní vody ETE, 3. Vývoj referenční úrovně radioaktivních látek a hodnocení vlivu ETE.

Cílem úkolu je: Získání dat objemové aktivity tritia (kontinuálních s rovnoměrnou četností nebo v epizodách se zvětšenou četností) k popisu odtoku aktivity (bilance) tritia v profilech Vltava Solenice, Vltava Praha a Labe Hřensko. Zjištění pozadí tritia na území povodí Labe v povrchových vodách nezatížených odpadními vodami z bodových zdrojů (JE Temelín, ÚJV Řež apod.). Posouzení možností snížení minimální detekovatelné aktivity tritia (MDA) u vzorků pozadí. Vyhodnocení odtoku aktivity tritia v hodnocených profilech po odečtení odtoku aktivity tritia odpovídající pozadí. Vyjádření depozice tritia na území českého úseku povodí Labe se srážkami. Posouzení shody mezi bilancí aktivity tritia v hodnocených profilech na základě sledování a údajů o bilanci aktivity tritia uvolňované s odpadními vodami JE Temelín. Na vybrané modelové lokalitě bude hodnocen vliv kontaminace Labe tritiem na změny objemové aktivity tritia ve vodě z břehové infiltrace na základě rekognoskace terénu. Činnosti v roce 2007: Lokalizace profilů pro hodnocení odtoku tritia a profilů pro stanovení pozadí, ověření možností vyhodnocení odtoku tritia s využitím rozborů s malou četností odběrů vzorků. Rešerše a hodnocení časového vývoje výskytu tritia v hydrosféře po testech jaderných zbraní. Sledování tritia v odtoku z VN Orlík.
