Poor care in Příbram from the Josephine reforms to the abolition of serfdom

The bachelor's thesis gets into the functioning of the system of care for the poor through the municipal hospital and the pauper fund, focusing on the environment of the royal mining town Příbram, which is carried out by the municipal government and private charity. The thesis investigates how the poor were provided for and supported, how they integrated into society, what they could afford and where financial support flowed from. Při každodenní práci zabývající se historií vězeňství jsem si začal klást otázku jak se v průběhu staletí měnila kriminalita a způsob boje proti ní. S tím samozřejmě souvisí i další problémy, mezi něž patří způsob vyšetřování spáchaného deliktu, zatčení zločince, soudní řízení a nelze vynechat ani tresty ukládané viníkům. Obzvláště podoba postihu pachatele doznala z pohledu současného člověka výrazných změn. Dnes běžný kratší či delší pobyt ve vězení nebýval chápán jako náležitá odplata - právě posun významu trestu z ff pomsty" za prožité bezpráví na snahu o nápravu provinilce lze považovat za jeden z nejdůležitějších momentů v dějinách vězeňství. Avšak k tomu došlo až v rámci reforem soudnictví v polovině 19. století, přičemž nelze opomenout zásluhy katolického kněze a prvního vězeňského učitele Františka Josefa Řezáče, který již roku 1852 vydal vlastním nákladem důležitý spis, jenž se zabývá zásadami práce s vězni.1 Nicméně zásadním okamžikem vedoucím k zájmu o městskou kriminalitu v předbělohorských Čechách byla exkurze do Archivu hlavního města Prahy, kde je mimo jiné uložen také soubor knih svědomí ze všech čtyř pražských měst zac hycujících toto období. Catholic Reformation in the Prague Towns after the Battle of White Mountain. Prague's New Town in a context of the process of the catholic confessionalisation Abstract Olga Fejtová This thesis' methodological ground is a conception of both clerical and secular politics of recatholisation in a relation to Prague's New Town within the Post-White-Mountain period as part of a process of confessionalisation, i. e catholic confessialisation, within the paradigm that was introduced into European historiography in 1980s . The recatholisation within Bohemian lands in relationship to the paradigm of confessionalisation invokes a strategy of state and clerical power. Its enforcement and exercise in political practice were illustrated by normative materials that represented attendant signs of a development of the catholic confessionalisation. The target of this thesis is firstly to describe the progress of politics concerning recatholisation in a relationship to one of Prague's towns by using contemporary decrees of both secular and clerical origin. Furthermore, it shall investigate issues echoing within and from life of the New-Prague-Town's society of the 17th century. This within both public and private spheres of burgess' life.
