Stigmatization of people with mental illness in the context of psychiatric diagnoses
Fáborská, Eliška ; Formánková, Lenka (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the subjective perception of stigmatization of people with mental illness. The aim of this thesis is to find out how stigma is reflected in the life of a person struggling with a mental illness based on a psychiatric diagnosis. What limitations the diagnosis poses to the person, but also what perceived benefits he or she derives from the diagnosis. In the theoretical part, mental illness is defined, then stigma and self-stigma are described. It also presents the specifics of social work with people with mental illness and the reform of psychiatric care in the Czech Republic, which is changing the approach to client care in a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual context. The practical part of the thesis deals with the perspective of people with mental illness on their experience of living with the diagnosis, subjective perception of stigmatization and self-stigmatization. The research traces the relationship between their lived experience and social functioning. Specifically, it focuses on people with illness from the diagnostic range of neurotic spectrum disorders. The research is based on the perspective of people who have used or are using psychiatric help, clients of social services or people with experience of hospitalization.
The Relationship Between Attachment, Personality and Subjective Well-Being
Karvai, Martin ; Blatný, Marek (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee)
Existing research suggests that personality and attachment predict subjective well-being. However, few studies have examined the relationships between all three concepts. The present masters thesis aims to replicate one of these studies, namely the study by Kwon and Choi (2022). The results of their study showed that avoidant attachment moderates the relationship between extraversion and subjective well-being. The theoretical section introduces the mentioned concepts: attachment, personality from the Big Five perspective, and subjective well-being. In this section, the relationships between the variables under study are further described. The research section presents a replication study that extends the original research of Kwon and Choi (2022) by adding additional hypotheses that relate to the interaction of attachment and neuroticism. A total of 187 college students participated in the study (mean age = 22,7 years, SD = 2,6 years). Results of multiple regression analyses indicated that avoidant attachment did not moderate the relationship between extraversion and subjective well-being. Thus, the effect reported in Kwon and Choi's (2022) study could not be replicated. One of the tested interactions was statistically significant, but in the opposite direction than predicted by the hypothesis....
Stress and Coping Resources in Crisis Intervention Helpline Professionals: A Grounded Theory Approach
Hlaváčová, Karin ; Zábrodská, Kateřina (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee)
This master's thesis focuses on experiences of occupational stress in professionals employed at crisis intervention helplines. The aim of the thesis is to develop a theoretical model of coping resources used by crisis interventionists to cope with occupational stress. The theoretical part of the thesis describes key definitions and theories of occupational stress, drawing on occupational health psychology literature. Specific stressors that endanger workers' occupational health in helping professions, particularly in crisis interventions, are identified. Next, the thesis defines the concept of coping and describes specific personal, social, and other resources that can be used to cope with work-related stress. The theoretical part is concluded with an overview of recent empirical studies focusing on coping resources in counseling and crisis intervention. The empirical part of the thesis uses qualitative design, and specifically a grounded theory approach, to develop a theoretical model of coping resources used by crisis interventionists to cope with occupational stress. The theoretical model aims to identify the main occupational stressors, coping resources, intervening conditions, and effects of coping in a selected sample of professionals employed at crisis intervention helplines in the Czech...
The relationship between spirituality and resilience in the elderly
Šolcová, Ludmila ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee)
This rigorous thesis deals with spirituality, resilience and their relationship in the elderly. It is an extension of the diploma thesis that was defended in 2021 as part of the master's program in psychology. The literature-overview deals with spirituality, resilience and their connections and are supplemented with information regarding seniors. The aim of the empirical part is to investigate the connections between spirituality and resilience in seniors and to compare the results with research from the diploma thesis. The research sample consists of 180 respondents aged 60 to 89 from University of the Third Age students. Data were collected online using the Prague Spirituality Questionnaire and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. A statistically significant connection between spirituality and resilience was found. This correlation is significantly stronger compared to research from the diploma thesis (persons aged 18 to 30). Possible negative association between resilience and one of the aspects of spirituality (from Prague Spirituality Questionnaire) have not been found. Keywords spirituality, resilience, adversity, seniors
Implementation Barriers and Facilitators in Suicide Prevention Interventions: Implementation Analysis Optics
Kasal, Alexandr ; Nekola, Martin (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee) ; Čermáková, Pavla (referee)
Introduction: This dissertation addresses the issue of implementation barriers and facilitators of suicide prevention measures in the context of the field of public and social policy. Implementation barriers and facilitators can be identified across the whole implementation process. This paper seeks to identify them in published scientific studies and contextualize them for the Czech environment through expert group interview. The thesis uses two theoretical frameworks, the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) and the Conceptual Framework for Implementation Analysis (CFIA). The thesis simultaneously questions the suitability of these frameworks to achieve the aforementioned objectives and the possibility of synthesising these frameworks. Methods: Systematic literature review and group expert interview were conducted. The thesis applies the frameworks mentioned above to structure the results, with the CFIA serving as a supporting framework to categorize the results of the group expert interview that could not be assigned to the CFIR framework. Results: 63 relevant studies containing 239 implementation barriers and 405 implementation facilitators were identified through a systematic review. These were unevenly distributed across CFIR domains and constructs. In total, thirteen...
Czech adaptation of the Death Attitude Profile Revised questionnaire
Horáková, Anna ; Děchtěrenko, Filip (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee)
The thesis describes the phenomenon of attitudes towards death, its types and possible influences and offers an overview of methods to measure attitudes towards death. The aim of the thesis is to create Czech items of the Death attitude profile revised questionnaire. The thesis verifies the reliability of individual factors of the Czech version, which reaches excellent values (α = 0.925) to acceptable values (α = 0.652) for individual factors. The thesis verifies the five- factor model, which reaches borderline values of acceptability and according to the results of exploratory factor analysis proposes research on modification of the model for the Czech version (omitting the first item and changing the loading of item 17 as a reverse item to the factor fear of death). The thesis also estimates the validity of the questionnaire by attempting to replicate the findings of previous studies dealing with the psychometric properties of the original questionnaire and its other adaptations. This involves the correlation of factors and differences in attitudes towards death by gender, age and religious-spiritual beliefs. The findings of earlier studies regarding differences between these groups have been largely replicated. Furthermore, the thesis presents a complementary analysis of qualitative data,...

Family factors of sibling incest development
Bloudková, Lucie ; Havránková, Olga (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee)
(in English): This thesis focuses on the issue of sibling incest with special emphasis on the influence of family environment on its development. The theoretical part first discusses the topic of sexual abuse in general, since it is a main area covering the issue of sibling incest. This includes a definition, history, the key characteristics, and a description of the perpetrator and victim. In a similar vein, the theoretical part then covers the topic of incest as a sexual abuse within family, sharing many common characteristics with sibling incest. Finally, the theoretical part gives an overview of sibling incest, including a comparison with father-daughter incest, possible after-effects, a description of the perpetrator and victim, and a discussion of the family system. The empirical part provides a discussion of the individual family factors that contribute to the sibling incest development. This discussion is based on an analysis of foreign literature, as well as interviews conducted with Czech experts. Given the analysis of both sources, one can conclude that, overall, family factors contribute to the sibling incest development. However, they are not the only elements involved with this phenomenon.
