Accessibility and comprehensibility of information given to families of patients in intensive care

The thesis solves the quality of the process of passing information to the relatives / close patient in intensive care. A deficiency of important information or misunderstanding may cause anxiety and depression relatives and close patients. Communication with the patient's family must therefore be done methodically and systemically. The first part of the thesis brings orientation in the main terminology and introduces the already implemented strategies of solution of the problem in our country and in the world. The main objective is to create a methodical instruction for the OARIM (Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Medicine), which lists the priorities for informing relatives and close critically ill patients. The research maps the general view of the relatives of a critically ill patient hospitalized at OARIM on the process of communication and mutual co-operation with the staff. It also investigates how the OARIM patient's relatives assess the level of communication and interaction between them and the treating staff. The Assessment of Pain by a Nurse and the Control of Post-operative Pain

This diploma work is focused on post-surgical pain. It lays out the role of a nurse in pain assessment, factors influencing post-surgical pain and ways of its controlling. It also publishes the results of the research organized in the surgical fields of the Central Military Hospital Prague in January and February 2006. The work is structured into two large parts, theoretical and empirical one. The diploma work underlines the importance of the team cooperation of all those who participate in pain management and in individualized complex nursing care for a patient in the past-surgical time period.
Practicing Nurses' View Of Nursing Students In The Context Of Clinical Practicum

Irreplaceable role in preparing students for the future careers have nurses, who are accompanies their future colleagues during the teaching of nursing procedures and in adopting a role of nurse. The bachelor work deals with evaluations of qualified nurses of nursing students in the context of clinical practice. The basic research target is the expectation of the qualified nurses to the nursing students. There are sectional research targets and questions, which maps the strategies, which qualified nurses use for easier collaborate with nursing students in the context of nursing practice; identified nurse's ways and areas, which they used for evaluation of nursing students; analysed the nurse's opinion for independence of nursing students; evaluated the reaction of nurses for innovation, which are the part of the lessons of nursing students; analysed competence and characteristics, which nurses assume for their ideal of "good nurse". Nursing care of morbidly obese patients

According available studies the number of obese people is growing worldwide, we can speak about so called pandemic obesity. Obese patients can be mostly found in hospitals and it is needed to react to this fact in medical and nursing care. Subject of this thesis is nursing process of morbidly obese patient. Thesis is formed into case study, which describes in detail nursing case of patient, who has undergone stomach palsy due to third degree of obesity. All attempts for conservative treatment were tried. Research was done on clinic specialized in obesity treatment. Information for both theoretical and practical section were based on czech and internatinonal literatures and researches. In practical section interview was done with staff of the clinic and patient of the clinic. Goal of the thesis is detailed description of nursing process according functional health models by Margaret Gordon, gathering most important facts in nursing care of obese patient on specialized clinic and suggestion how to use these facts even out of the clinic. Motivational and demotivational factors in the profession of a general nurse

This thesis discusses the motivational and demotivational factors that influence the work of nurses and their sense of satisfaction. The aim of the research is to map the motivational and demotivational factors that affect work performance of the Kolin Regional Hospital. The research's chose quantitative method was done by survey. The questionaire and it's contents were prepared by the author. The creation of the questionaire was based upon several similar surveys. Based on the author's research, it was found that interpersonal relationships among nurses were among the most powerful motivational factors; conversely, dysfunctional interpersonal relationships were the strongest motivational factors for changing employers. Another one of the strongest motivational factors was positive feedback from the patients. Since the research was quantitative in nature and covered the entire hospital, it is the author's opinion that the study should be repeated periodically and further focus on individual departments to better determine motivational and demotivational factors that affect work performance and overall job satisfaction. Differences in the quality of life in patients undergoing hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation

The literature indicates that treatment by means of elimination methods is extremely challenging for patients, bringing a fundamental change to their lives. The aim of the thesis was to identify and describe the challenges of treatment in patients with renal failure and how a given method of treatment affects the patient's quality of life and needs, as well as to understand the subjective difficulties and problems. A data collection method in the form of non-standardized semi-structured interviews was selected for qualitative research. The surveyed sample consisted of six patients of a dialysis centre. The respondents taking part in the qualitative research were informed in advance of the course, circumstances and ethical aspects of the research. The obtained data was analyzed, colour-coded and then sorted into subcategories. The results were interpreted using the "showdown" technique. The interviewed sample of respondents was subjected to multiple elimination methods in the treatment of their disease. Kidney transplant patients subjectively evaluated the quality of their lives as very high, talking about "a life of a normal man". Evidence-based practice in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in intensive care patients

Pressure ulcers are one of the quality indicators of nursing care, their presence reduces the quality of life of the patient, leads to a prolongation of hospitalization, increases costs of care and affects the budget of a health care facility. European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel or the European Advisory Board on issues of bedsores (EPUAP) leads and supports all European countries in their efforts to prevent and treat pressure sores. EPUAP working group has developed guidelines for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. One of the important factors in providing the highest quality of nursing care is the ability of nurses to practically use the research results in the nursing process. This thesis deals with the effective use of the latest advances in the prevention of pressure sores and their treatment in the intensive care in Czech Republic. The main objective of this thesis is to explore the latest methods of prevention of pressure sores and care, according to Evidence-based practice principles EPUAP and analyze their practical implementation in selected intensive care wards.
