Photobiological Safety of luminaires and Light Sources
Štěpánek, Jaroslav ; Bendová,, Zdeňka (referee) ; Vik,, Michal (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
This doctoral thesis called “Photobiological safety of luminaires and light sources” has focused on an optical radiation and its relation to human body. The thesis describes possible consequences on living tissue during excessive exposure to optical radiation. Among others the work deals with the light source, lamp and optical devices evaluation in dependence of photobiological safety. There is created a method of light source evaluation procedure for photobiological safety in accordance with ČSN EN 62471. The meaning of this procedure is based on its hazard calculation from measured values of irradiation to different photometric distances. Validity of procedure is verified by light source measuring, in which visual angle and photometric distance have been changed. There we can also find an application of this procedure in the UV source evaluation, which helps to determine a safe distance away from UV sources not to create any danger. The evaluated UV sources include a UVA luminaire with a dominant wavelength of 365 nm or an arc of an electric welder. The thesis also describes a method of evaluating light sources for blue light hazard for an aphakic and pseudophakic eye. This method can also help to determine the hazard for the eye without lens or with some implanted lens. Furthermore, there was developed the method of the blue light hazard assessment depending on the age of an exposed person. In terms of the work there was also created a computer programme evaluating photobiological safety resulting from the spectral data having been stored in the library programme or from spectroradiometric measurement data. The work also marginally deals with the topic of circadian rhythms, which are closely related to photobiological manifestation in an human body. Above all the work compares light sources for which equivalent illuminances are calculated, consequently light sources have the same effect on suppressing the melatonin hormone production.
Economic comparison of light sources
Růžička, Josef ; Motyčka, Martin (referee) ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the economic comparison of light sources. On the market there is currently no physical quantity that would enable the light sources to be compared from an economic point of view in long-term perspective. The main objective of the work is, therefore, by calculations of the specified (or directly measured) parameters of the light source to provide a uniform total cost of lighting, thanks to which it will then be possible to sort the sources according to the price benefit. Evaluation is based on measurements of 28 light sources from different groups: the classical bulbs, halogen bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs, compact LED retrofits and dimmable LED retrofits with color-changeable modes. These light sources are meant to be used for indoor home lighting, offices, halls, etc. The final part of the paper clarifies what kind of light sources and for what reasons they are the most profitable and have the greatest potential for the future. There's also a comparison of theoretical parameters provided by the manufacturer, and parameters directly measured in the laboratory and the evaluation of the deviations between them. The use of this thesis comes from provision of the calculation structure to a user who will better understand the topic of costs while purchasing the light source. Well arranged description and information about the light sources in theoretical part of the thesis is another utility to be mentioned.
Design of the morning sun simulator
Suský, Stanislav ; Krbal, Michal (referee) ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (advisor)
This work deals with the introduction of the influence of electromagnetic radiation on circadian rhythms and their influence on the organism. The work describes circadian rhythms and their influence on the organism, the location and description of functions of important organs and the influence of electromagnetic radiation on these organs. There are described light sources and their influence on circadian rhythms.
Measurement of photometric parameters of light sources for interactive panel
Vágner, Richard ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with measurment of various photometric parameters of light sources designated for interactive board located in the Laboratory of Light VUT FEKT. There is described procedure and processing of photometric and electrical parameters of light sources (incandescent light bulbs, halogen lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, fluorescent tubes and LED lamps). Also there is presented processing method of designing cards that will contain mentioned parameters.
Photobiological safety evaluation of light sources for household use
Jelínek, Jakub ; Motyčka, Martin (referee) ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the photobiological safety of light sources used for household lighting. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to areas related to photobiological safety, such as the basic description of vision functions, the description of light sources, as well as methods of measurement and evaluation. In the practical part, the spectrum of individual light sources is measured, from which the irradiance limits are calculated, according to which the source is assigned to the appropriate group of hazards.
Illumination with respect to biological functions
Němec, Jiří ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
The paper summarizes the basic light-technical parameters, the principles of visual and non-visual photoreceptions and the effects of light on the organism. Several chapters focus on the mechanism by which light affects hormone levels and the circadian rhytm of the organism. In relation to the lighting system, the impact of electromagnetic radiation, associated with the controls, on the body is also considered. Briefly described are systems based on smart LED light sources or smart switches. The result of the thesis is to choose the solution that best suits the requirements of the contracting authority.
Design of lighting system in high school
Borůvka, Jan ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
The theoretical part is focused on lights, notions and calculations in the area of light technology, basic lightning sources and lamps. This work is also about the principle of lightning measuring. The main aim of the work is design of a new artificial lightning system in a High school agriculture in Prerov. At first, the control measuring of existing lightning was done which is mentioned in this work. From the results of control measuring is clear, that existing lighting system in classroom does not suit requirements, which are mentioned in the valid technical norm. Design of a new lightning system meets the requirements in all of the rooms in the building of school. Design of lightning system was done in two variants. The first variant uses lamps with fluorescent tube light sources. The second variant uses lamps with LED light sources. Also is here evaluated financial difficulty of possible installation and comparation of each variants with respect energetic difficulty.
Design of railway station lighting
Hána, František ; Bátora, Branislav (referee) ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis pursue the design and calculation of illumination at Šternberk railway station. Components of this thesis are sizing and securing of supply cables, design and documentation of NN cable trains, comparison of current and proposed status in terms of energetical intensity, list of sampled work and financial costs of implementation.
Street Lighting Control
Kořenek, Jan ; Krbal, Michal (referee) ; Štěpánek, Jaroslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals in a theoretical part with the origin of the light, his features and lighttechnical quantities. There are also characterized light sources, which are currently most used to control street lighting. There are further described basics of the street light and currently most used ways of street lighting control. Further part of this thesis is focused on practical control of different types of light sources and monitoring their parameters, such as luminous flux, power, efficiency or correlated colour temperature during voltage reduction. These light sources are high pressure sodium lamps, halogenid lamp, fluorescent lamp and high pressure mercury lamp. Main conclusion from measurements are several cross characteristics, where is possible to monitor behavior of the parameters during voltage reduction. The last part concerned about practical street lighting control in Bezděkov, which is a village located near Havlíčkův Brod. There was connected the dimmer. On the street was created net of points according to the standard. In these points were measured illuminance for voltage 230 V and then for lower voltages 210 V and 190 V. These values were processed and average and minimum value was compared with the value defined in the standard.
