Development of electronic parking system
Šmíd, Josef ; Strecker, Zbyněk (referee) ; Paloušek, David (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the development of the electronic parking system, which is intended to navigate the drivers to the nearest vacancies, using the Arduino platform. The introductory part deals with an overview of the current state of knowledge. The research section provides an overview of the Arduino base plates and other modules and sensors selected for conceptual design solutions. The construction part deals with the design of the casing according to the selected components and the subsequent realization of the whole device, including the program, for testing under real conditions. The test results are finally evaluated and summarized in the final discussion.
Oxygen blood saturation measurement
Šmíd, Josef ; Kolář, Radim (referee) ; Chmelař, Milan (advisor)
This thesis works with measuring possibilities of blood oxygen saturation, analysis methods used and their calibration. It also deals with design of the block diagram of pulse oximeter for measuring blood oxygen saturation.
Design of traffic sign detector using image processing methods
Šmíd, Josef ; Adámek, Roman (referee) ; Věchet, Stanislav (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the design of a traffic sign detector using the image processing methods. The OpenCV library for working with images in programming language Python is used for this. The first part reports on the using methods. In the next part, these methods were tested on images of traffic signs taken in traffic in different lighting conditions. The results of these tests led to the design of optimal methods and their settings, which were re-verified by verifying on video of driving in traffic. This also revealed the conditions under which they can operate in real-time systems. Finally, an optimization algorithm for compensation of detection errors was proposed from the monitoring of detection waveforms.
Breath Alcohol Tester
Šmíd, Josef ; Rozman, Jiří (referee) ; Chmelař, Milan (advisor)
This thesis works with measuring possibilities of alcohol concentration in the human body, comparison of these methods and possibilities of practical use. It also deals with the design of a simple breath alcohol tester with usage of semiconductor sensor.

Kotíková, Vanda ; Postler, Milan (advisor) ; Šmíd, Josef (referee)
This diploma thesis called "Brand positioning Carla" is focused on the analysis of the position of the brand Carla on the Czech market. My recommendations are based on this analysis. The theoretical part describes current marketing and marketing trends, the components of the marketing mix and SWOT analysis. The second chapter describes the brand's development, history, trends and brand elements. The third part of the theoretical part is focused on marketing promotional and communication activities. Last chapter describes brand positioning. The practical part of my thesis is mainly based on internal information which was provided directly by the Carla company, also other techniques as interviews with company management and a questionnaire were used. The first part is focused on company presentation and history of the Carla company. Then I evaluated its market position and analyzed strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the so-called SWOT analysis. Also an analysis of competition and description of the company's distribution channels is included. The next chapter describes the segments which are products targeted. In conclusion, I described the promotional activities of Carla and suggested promotional activities for the company's new product.
