Indicators of educational results in chemistry teaching of the Czech Republic
Tříska, Jan ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (advisor) ; Ganajová, Mária (referee) ; Klečková, Marta (referee)
This thesis focuses on the indicators of quality of education. The indicators are learning exercises the aim of which is to prove whether the tested pupils reached the level of knowledge defined by the national curriculum and listed in the Framework Education Programme. While learning Chemistry, the students should master the key competencies and educational objectives from the education area "Man and Nature" and further from the subject of Chemistry. The thesis focuses on the evidence of reaching the educational goals in Chemistry within the scope of General Chemistry. Since the level of knowledge defined by the Framework Education Programme is not very specific, the author of this thesis decided to settle the educational goals for the subject of General Chemistry based on the study of expert literature and curricular documents. Furthermore, the author also suggests a system of indicators which can be used to verify reaching these goals by the pupils of the secondary schools. The thesis also includes one of the models of working with such indicators. The indicator system was first assessed by a focus group (Chemistry teachers and experts in Didactics of Chemistry). This focus group evaluated the content and the construct validity of the suggested indicators. Afterwards, some of the learning...
Selection and structuring of the chemistry curriculum at the secondary school level - elements of the 1st and 17th group of the periodic table of elements
Vlčková, Tereza ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (advisor) ; Stratilová Urválková, Eva (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the selection and structuring of the curriculum of the selected groups of elements in terms of inorganic chemistry, to be more specific the elements of the 1st and 17th group at the grammar school level. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the characteristics of the educational content and curriculum, the possibilities of graphical representation of the curriculum, current curricular documents and used chemistry textbooks at grammar schools. At the end of the theoretical part, the qualitative research method is discussed, namely a focus group. The practical part of the thesis contains modified schemes of the arrangement of the curriculum of the elements of the 1st and 17th group from the 1980s when a deductive approach to the content and arrangement of the chemistry curriculum was applied for the first time. To find out the current state, an analysis of RVP G and selected Czech and foreign textbooks was done. On their basis diagrams representing the content and structure of the curriculum of the elements of the 1st and 17th group were created. It proves that the deductive approach to the chemistry curriculum, which is problematic for pupils, is predominant even today. Therefore, a proposal for selecting and structuring of the curriculum of the selected PSP...
Alternative pedagogical trends in chemistry education in Czech Republic
Dalíková, Martina ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (advisor) ; Janoušková, Svatava (referee)
The bachelor's dissertation named Alternative pedagogical way in education of chemistry aims to give an overview on alternative schools widespread in the Czech Republic. The work deals with a description and characteristics of chosen types of alternative schools and their methods which are used in education. The aim of the thesis itself is to provide an overall survey of the existing alternative methods of education and show their use in education of chemistry.
Inter-subject relations between chemistry and geology in natural sciences
Kálalová, Anna ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
Thesis is fixed on inter-subjects relations between chemistry and geology in context of science education. Thesis concern subject matter defined in curricula for grammar schools, which is devoted inorganic chemistry, mineralogy and petrology. Next there is lucid compile inclusion these themes to school curricula in other grammar schools. Thesis emphasizes mainly to practical works in teaching mentioned subjects i.e. experiments. There are compile topics for chemical and physical experiments, which are useful for demonstration inter- subject relations between these subjects and geology. Worksheets with creative solutions were made for these experiments; there are component of enclosure of this thesis.
Chemistry - Physics relatives in the Science education
Konečný, Martin ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (advisor) ; Teplá, Milada (referee)
Title: Chemistry - Physics Relatives in the Science Education Department: Department of Teaching and Didactics of Chemistry Abstract (in English): Within the master's degree thesis was conducted a literary research. Overview of interdisciplinary relatives in science education was done based on this research. The interdisciplinary relatives are described in the work as well as a historical development of integrated science education in the Czech Republic and in Europe. Three teaching tasks were created for use in science lessons with the following topics: The universe evolution and formation of elements, Luminescence, and The substance composition. Teaching tasks can be used during the class work or as a material for talented students and have both theoretical and practical parts. The teaching tasks were evaluated by teachers who used them during their chemistry lessons. The final part of the master thesis is a survey, in which teachers answered the questions concerning the establishing of new conference called "Chemistry Teachers' Inventions Fair" for secondary school and high school teachers. Keywords: interdisciplinary relatives, physics, chemistry, science eduaction, integrated teaching
Textbooks in Chemistry - development and the current state
Petriláková, Monika ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (advisor) ; Matoušková, Šárka (referee)
Title Textbooks in Chemistry - development and the current state Abstract The dissertation is devoted to the evaluation of selected chemistry textbooks from the period 1850-1980. At the beginning of the work is a comparison of the textbooks research in our country and abroad, the development of chemistry at primary and secondary school and historical development of chemistry textbooks in our country. Subsequently, there are criteria mentioned for evaluating textbooks, possible methods of research and finally evaluation of eight selected textbooks is carried out. The intetion is to make certain retrospective kind of writing history textbooks, which can be an inspiration to the authors of textbooks of chemistry. Presented perspectives, evaluation of textbooks and summary closure of analyzed textbooks can also help teachers to choose textbooks from a wide range of offers on the market.
Multicomponent learning tasks in chemistry
Trčková, Kateřina ; Solárová, Marie (advisor) ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (referee) ; Sirotek, Vladimír (referee)
The main goal of this dissertation was to create and verify own multicomponent tasks of interdisciplinary character based on analysis of types of tasks occured in international research. Newly created multicomponent learning tasks were classified by task type, solution form, cognitive demands and task variety. Tasks of the same form were ordered to pairs, their difficultness, vulnerability and rate of success were verified. Multicomponent learning tasks were assigned verbally or nonverbally (charts, tables or pictures). Closed jobs (ordering items, matching items, multiple choice questions, true/false questions) and open jobs (wide-answer items, short-answer items) were used in complex of tasks. Rate of success of individual tasks was processed by non-parmetric statistical Wilcoxon test based on form, gender and type of study. Research survey was complemented by pupils' self- reflection questionnaires and teachers'questionnaires about testing process. Key words Multicomponent learning task, taxonomy of learning task, scientific literacy, reading literacy, self-reflective questionnaire.
