Municipal Waste Management and Analysis of Influencing Factors with respect to Municipal Solid Waste Generation
Kmeťková, Diana ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kopečná, Vědunka (referee)
This thesis presents the topic of municipal waste management in the Czech Republic and describes the current trends within this area. We analyse the data on the generation and treatment of municipal solid waste in the Czech Republic and then we compare several waste indicators in the EU countries. The main goal of the thesis is to describe the relationship between municipal solid waste generation (MSW) and socio-economic factors. In order to identify the variables that might have a significant impact on the generation of MSW, we carry out a panel data regression using data from 28 EU countries over a time period from 1995 to 2017. We present four model specifications that were created based on the studied research articles. Our findings suggest that GDP and income have a significant positive impact on MSW generation, which is in accordance with the majority of research works. On the other hand, two other significant variables, population and density, are estimated to be negatively related to MSW production. Moreover, urbanization and unemployment rate result to be insignificant. 1
Advanced Treatment Methods for Incineration Bottom Ash.
Šyc, Michal ; Baloch, T. ; Veselý, Václav ; Zuda, M.
Bottom ash is main solid residue from waste-to-energy. Recent development and trends change the approach to IBA, it is no longer regarded as unwanted waste from WtE plant but can be considered a valuable secondary source for several materials like ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Mineral residue after metal separation can be used in construction industry, e.g. as aggregates substitute for bound or unbound applications such as subbase layer for road construction. The paper summarizes results of recent activities for bottom ash utilization in WtE plant in Prague within last few years.

Possibilities Of Recycling Of Li-Ion Accumulators
Karmazínová, Kateřina
This paper is concerned with topic of lithium-ion batteries recycling. In this document the particular methods containing commercial used recycling processes or only laboratory used processes are discussed. Because rising amount of spent Li-ion accumulators is necessary find proper methods to recycle this type of accumulators. In practical part is described procedure and results performed recycling method.
The diploma thesis was prepared in cooperation with Atemit. The thesis describes the specific composition and properties of polymer industrial substrates from Atemit research.
Šácha, Dominik ; Tesařík, Miroslav (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (advisor)
This diploma thesis has goal to find out possibility of substitution sand in polymer crete flooring system by recycling car glass. Polymer crete is made from sand and epoxy resin. Companies use it in industrial flooring system. Polymercrete industrial flooring systems are new types of floor surface. It aims to customers with high requirements to floor properties and short time of realisation. Polymercrete floors are 4-6 mm thin. They are waterproof, they has higher compressive strength then 60 MPa and tensile strength is more than 20 MPa. Polymercretes does not make dust. This study includes also suggestion of recycling process to make glass sand from car glass windows. The diploma thesis was prepared in cooperation with company Atemit, s.r.o.
Use of FRP Composites as Reinforcing Material for Concrete
Kratochvílová, Denisa ; Prokeš,, Jan (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (advisor)
Because FRP composites have high fiber strength and good durability, they are increasingly used for repairs, modernisation and reconstruction of concrete structures. In practice, however there is a risk of premature separation of FRP reinforcement from concrete. This can be avoided by appropriate selecting the fibers and the matrix and the appropriate shape of the reinforcement. The actual materials and consistency of FRP reinforcement with concrete are also covered by this diploma thesis.
Harvesting and reuse of cellulose from wastewater
Kobzová, Kamila ; Úterský, Michal (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
The goal of this diploma thesis is to highlight the properties of cellulose fibers obtained from waste water and the importance of recycling of raw materials. The main objective is then to further explore the possibilities of using cellulose fibers as a valuable product on the market. The practical part of the thesis is focused on specific research of cellulose properties and design of equipment for sewage treatment plant according to its size.
Využití mikrořas pro recyklaci lanthanoidů z průmyslového odpadu.
NÁHLÍK, Vít
This study examines the effect of Red Mud containing lanthanides on microalgae for recycling purposes. The effect of Red Mud is monitored on cultivations of microalgae with various liquid nutritionally rich media affected by different concentrations of added Red Mud.
The issue of heat treated waste and optimization of properties for their use in construction
Čermák, Jan ; Mareček,, Jan (referee) ; Žižková, Nikol (referee) ; Kohoutková,, Alena (referee) ; Šťastník, Stanislav (advisor)
Given the increasing consumption of plastic materials their reuse becomes a very topical issue. Recycling the single-cleaned plastic waste is simple, these products can be used as raw material or additive in the manufacture of new products. The problem remains the energy, economic and environmental demands in sorting, cleaning and eventual regranulation of waste to a suitable feedstock. This problem can be solved using technology that is able to handle multiple-type waste thermoplastics in further useful products.
Influence of aged bituminous binder on the properties of polymer modified bitumens
Pecha, Marek ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with problematics of polymer modified binders specially designed for production of asphalt mixtures containing Reclaimed Asphalt. These polymer modified binders are referred to in the literature as PMB RC (polymer modified bitumen for recycling). The first part of the thesis is focused on obtaining different types of PMB RC from various european producers. These binders were subsequently tested using empirical tests of asphalt binders for the classification purposes according to ČSN EN 14023. In the next part of the thesis the influence of the addition of aged asphalt binder on the properties of individual PMB RC was assessed. Mixing of binders was done to simulate the production of asphalt mixture in a mixing plant, where the binder of the Reclaimed Asphalt and the freshly added binder are mixed together. An assessment of the effect of the aged binder on PMB RC behavior was also carried out using conventional asphalt binder tests.
