Simulation of processes predicted by theory of frozen plasticity
Nekola, Ondřej ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Ponížil, Petr (referee)
The question of the tempo of evolution is amongst the oldest conundrums in evolutionary biology and has not been satisfactorily answered yet. One of the attempts to do so is the frozen plasticity theory, which postulates that a sexually reproducing species is only capable of evolution within short periods of time after its genetic polymorphism decreases e.g. as a consequence of peripatric speciation. In the longer periods of evolutionary stasis, its evolution is limited by frequency- dependent selection and pleiotropy. In this work, I have produced an open source software simulating the respon- ses of populations of sexually reproducing individuals to varying environmental conditions. Using this software, I simulated evolution of populations with different probabilities of arising of alelles affecting more phenotypic traits and frequency- dependent selected alleles that have opposing phenotypic effects when present at the locus in one copy, respectively two copies. I observed trends predicted by the theory of frozen plasticity: slower adap- tation to instant environmental changes, lower achieved fitness and more frequent extinctions of populations with higher portions of investigated types of alleles, but only with low effect sizes and without statistical significance. For future research, it would be desirable...

OF PH.D. THESIS - RNDR. JAROSLAV BURIAN Abstract in English "Implementation of geospatial technologies into modeling of urbanization processes in strategic planning of city development" PhD thesis represents original author's approach to the modeling of urban processes by using GIS in Olomouc region. In theoretical part, urban processes and spatial structures of the cities are described in connection with geospatial technologies and digital data for studying, analysis, modeling and simulation. Practical part is divided into for separated parts to fluently binding and creating homogenous thematic block. The first part of the thesis analyses development of Olomouc city by using functional areas derived from historical urban plans (since 1930). The development of urban processes, spatial structures of the city and impacts of urbanization and suburbanization are evaluated. Second chapter describes identification, analysis and quantification of suburbanization in Olomouc suburban space. The main result is Toolbox "Suburban Analyst" in ArcGIS software that use multi- criteria evaluation method and allows identifying and quantifying suburbanization in municipalities' level. Third part analyses the readiness of municipalities and cadastral areas for suburbanization. The final values of readiness represent...
Designing and programming wireless lens control system
NOVOTNÝ, Jiří
This work focuses on designing and programming a product, that wirelessly controls the focus ring of a camera lens. The product is based on an Arduino nano programmable circuit board incorporating an ATmega328P microcontroller, that is used for all calculations, stores the whole code on a flash memory, controlling the inputs and outputs of an electronic components specifically a potentiometer, a buttons, a step motor, a motor driver and a wireless modules. The final product consists of two smaller devices, the transmitter, which is held by the user for sending information and the receiver controlling the motor. Both devices are powered by USB power banks. Programming and debugging take place in Arduino IDE. Designing and modelling parts e.g. spur gears and the case uses Blender. Final outcome aims to make cheaper, but equally efficient product as the commercial solution for this product.

Šebestová, Monika ; Chramcov, Bronislav (referee) ; Lenort, Radim (referee) ; Režňáková, Mária (referee) ; Dostál, Petr (advisor)
The doctoral thesis deals with the use of convolutional neural networks for predicting the financial failure of companies. A bibliometric analysis was used during the processing of the literature review, which enabled a better orientation in scientific works oriented to the methods and approaches used in the past to predict the financial failure of companies. On the basis of the obtained knowledge, a deep learning model based on the GoogLeNet architecture was proposed, with inputs consisting of financial and macroeconomic indicators of companies. The modeling was based on the transfer learning method, in which it is possible to fine-tune the parameters of the pre-established networks to accelerate the learning process of the convolutional neural network. The initial set of financial and macroeconomic indicators was compiled from the variables that were most often used in business failure prediction models in scientific papers. Appropriate statistical methods were used for the specific selection of indicators from which the model is built. Since convolutional neural networks work best with image processing, the quantitative values of the input indicators were graphically interpreted and it was investigated which type of graphical processing is most suitable for predicting the failure of companies. Due to the existence of an unbalanced data set, the effect of the SMOTE method on the accuracy of the model's prediction was analyzed in the thesis. The method was used to increase the number of samples of the minority class of firms. To model the prediction of financial default, several variants of models were proposed, which differed in the form of input data. It was tested how the removal of outliers from the data set, the point in time from which the data come or the method of predictor selection will affect the accuracy of the prediction. The parameters of the resulting model were further fine-tuned so that it was able to classify businesses from new real data. The research conducted showed that using the right type of graphical processing of input data, SMOTE technique and appropriate parameter settings, convolutional neural networks can predict the financial failure of companies with high accuracy.
Simulation of Spread of Infectious Diseases in Human Population
Křištof, Jiří ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Strnadel, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this work is to develop an epidemiological model to simulate the spread of the infectious disease covid-19. The developed SVLIHDRS model builds on compartmental models and is implemented as a Markov chain with continuous time. For the implementation, the UPPAAL tool is used. By comparing the simulation outputs with the observed data, the Spearman coefficients are 0.8940 for infectious individuals and 0.9987 for deceased individuals, the mean bias errors are 12510.7285 and 316.2697, respectively. The results of this thesis are useful for making long-term predictions of the epidemic evolution of covid-19 infection.
Design of a four-legged walking robot model
Novotný, Pavel - Jakub ; Adámek, Roman (referee) ; Appel, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with research in the field of quadruped robot development, creation of robot model in Simulink 3D Animation environment and design of algorithm for quadruped robot walking. This thesis develops the student project Jaromir from the year 2003 by building a robot with a parent-child bond that is more reliable for the robot's function. The thesis uses direct kinematics to develop the gait algorithm. The rotations are incrementally incremented for smooth robot motion. The objectives of this thesis were to research in the area of quadruped robot gait, create a quadruped robot model, and create a quadruped robot gait algorithm and test it in simulation.
The wooden structure of the building for a kindergarten
Dreslerová, Natálie ; Pešek, Ondřej (referee) ; Bukovská, Pavla (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is a design of a timber structure for living rooms of a kindergarden in the village of Vlkov near Velká Bíteš, and a creation of a 3D model using the BIM method. The entire building has only one above-ground floor and consists of two structural parts. The first part is mainly designed from masonry and reinforced concrete elements. The second part is an annex consisting of two identical „wings“ with structural elements made of glued laminated timber. The supporting system consists of transverse frames formed by beams and columns, which are then supplemented with purlins that transfer the load of the roof and with stiffening elements in the form of steel tie rods. The timber extensions are covered with a mono pitched roof with a slope of about 5°. The static model and determination of internal forces were ensured by the Scia Engineer 22.0 calculation program. The assessment of individual elements themselves was done manualy using Microsoft Excel. Connections are solved using steel connecting elements that were selected and verified by manual calculation. A significant part of the work was based on cooperation with colleagues from the Institute of civil engineering and from the Institut of concrete and masonry structures.
