Study of concrete properties in extreme climatic conditions

The bachelor thesis deals with the study of concretes that are exposed to extreme climatic conditions during their service life. Many concrete structures around the world are exposed to various climatic conditions during their service life, such as high temperatures or, conversely, low temperatures. These conditions affect the properties of concrete both in its fresh and hardened state and have an impact on its durability. This thesis summarises the existing knowledge of the behaviour of concrete in these conditions, and describes suitable input materials that can be used for these environments. Furthermore, the thesis describes the possibilities of improving the durability and resistance of concrete to these climatic conditions. In the experimental part, selected durability parameters of concrete are monitored during its exposure to climatic stresses.
Conceptual habitat design for extreme environments - spacesuit design for Mars

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the conceptual design of a spacesuit for conditions on Mars. The concept is based on the reaserch part, in which are described current space suit models of different space agencies and extreme conditions on Mars. In the design itself, the emphasis is on weight reduction. This is why materials such as titanium or carbon fiber are used. Also technology for producing oxygen from atmospheric carbon dioxide and digitalization of user interface is used. At the end, the thesis addresses the issue of metabolic heat dissipation from the suit’s internal atmosphere to the surrounding environment.
Pevnost lepeného spoje ve smyku materiálů na bázi dřeva v extrémních podmínkách

This thesis deals with the issue of adhesive joints under extreme conditions. The aim of this work is to determine influence of temperatures -30 °C, +23°C, +70 °C on maximal tensile strength of adhesive joint and to determine which adhesive has the best results when used on specific agglomerated materials. Manufactured samples (chipboard, chipboard press-veneered by spruce, fibreboard, beech plywood board) were used in process of solving the task. These samples were used in accordance with standard ČSN EN 205. Data were processed by software and evaluation was accomplished by using statistical methods. As a result of a detailed research the adhesives appropriate for use in extreme conditions on Earth were determined. Contribution of this work is clarification of the impact of exposure temperature, type of adhesive and interaction between temperature of exposure and type of adhesive. Based on obtained results appropriate type of adhesive for given temperature during maximal tensile stress can be recommended.

Incubation behaviour of birds in polar regions

The climate in the polar regions is so extreme that it has led to a big number of special adaptations in life and reproduction of local animals. However, the disadvantages are compensated by several important aspects like much lesser activity of preadtors, long sunny polar day and an abundance of nutriments during spring and summer. I tis no wonder that many species of birds have adapted their life cycle and migrate annualy thousands of kilometres to the polar regions in order to increase their chance of successfully leading out their offspring. Birds in these areas nest during the polar summer. Only one species of nesting begins already during the polar winter, i tis an Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) in Antarctica. The broods of birds nesting in polar regions are bigger in quantity in average and they also incubated longer then their conterparts in temperate and tropical. The main difference is the incubation rhythm adjusting mainly the extension of sessions associated with a reduction of recesses. The only exception are songbirds who leaves their nests frequently but only for a short periods of time. The information about the incubation behaviour of the most of the bird species of the polar regions are still very limited and incomplete. Therefore, bachelor thesis contains so far...

Bachelor's thesis studied the impact of extreme the climatic conditions on the strength of adhesive joint of several kinds of classical animal glues (bone glues, skin glues, rabbit glues, fish glues, casein glues and albumin glues). The solid wood of spruce was selected for authentication of strength of glued joints. The glued joints were exposed to normal and extreme conditions (high humidity and low temperature). After then were compared the strength of glued joints in skid in tension. A resistance of the glued joints during increasing temperature was tested at the same time.

Forms of provision of pre-hospital emergency care applied to the foreign missions by the Army of the Czech Republic

The thesis deals with the forms of provision of pre-hospital emergency care (PEC) by paramedics of the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR) and this means above all those forms of PEC which are provided by Combat Medic and Combat Lifesaver (a Combat Lifesaver trained soldier). With regard to the terminology and conception of the thesis comprising the areas of providing PEC, the thesis deals with the levels 1 3 outfeed chain, consequently with the care of the patient to the relevant Role 1 including. The aim of the thesis was to show the basic differences in providing PEC by the Army of the Czech Republic in comparison with the system of emergency medical services of the Czech Republic and then to find out what the specific qualifications for a paramedic´s profession are. I tried to demonstrate this knowledge both by the practical part of the thesis and by its theoretical part.The theoretical part deals with the problems of reaching the paramedic post of the ACR either the Combat Medic or Combat Lifesaver, by required education and necessary courses. Then the thesis deals with providing PEC in the battlefield, up to Role 1, when the wounded person is given the first aid by paramedics. The practical part meant the qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interview and research questions. There I managed to achieve particular aims of the thesis thanks to the interviews with the respondents of the medical personnel of the ACR and the respondents of emergency medical services. All the inverviewed medical personnel of the ACR had to participate in at least one foreign mission. Among the respondents were both the CLS trained soldiers, Combat Medics, and even one medical corps doctor. The thesis is a contribution to the paramedics of the ACR and paramedics in general who could learn more about the problems of providing PEC in extreme circumstances or possibly consolidate the knowledge they have. The research showed that the basic differences in providing PEC between the interviewed groups (it means the military paramedics and paramedics) are above all external factors, the terrain, and material or even the kind of wound or the hierarchy of the medical personnel of the foreign mission. The research also outlines the specifics necessary for exercising an ACR paramedic´s profession, and those are the courses they take before a foreign mission.
