Making OpenType fonts with free software
Bednár, Peter ; Mekyska, Jiří (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
In thesis themes of typography and computer font of OpenType format is described in details. At the beginning attention is paid to historical development of typeface, where stress is laid mainly on development of Roman and white letter with their characteristics. Having presented basis of typography work is concentrated on topic of digital font with emphasis on possibilities of OpenType format. Further its characteristics and advantages were listed compared to another formats and it was evaluated as format appropriate also for creating font in education process. Letterspacing and kerning were mentioned between basic graphical modifications in creating fonts. In theoretical part of the thesis they were examined in available programs designed for creating font in OpenType format. Except free available means into summary were included also commercial types due to absence of more advanced instruments and functions with free available applications. In evaluation was found that the most convenient for education is Fontlab Fontographer commercial program, free Type lite and Fontforge indicated for Open-source platform. Practical part of the thesis is focused on two chosen programs for creating main font characteristics. The goal was to detect if it is possible to reach identical results when using both programs. Fontographer program enabled to use wide tool palette dedicated to vector graphic processing by means of Adobe Illustrator similar instrument. In the case of Type lite program there were rather less instruments, what is sufficient for elementary work and familiarization with creating of digital typeface. Freeware shortage is basic absence of kerning, spacing or hinting functions. Comparing program possibilities, it falls that freeware programs based on OS Windows with their functionality are sufficient only for entry level users. The best option within free available programs is Fontforge for OS Linux which supports mentioned typographic functions. Fontographer was recommended for teaching of basic characteristics of OpenType font format. Another goal of the thesis was creating of recommended work procedure for creating basic characteristics of OpenType font for students, that is enclosed at the end of the thesis.
The Case
Svobodová, Hana ; Šrek Bromová, Veronika (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
I assume huddled topic that I put into my past work as well as in final work. Casting my body, which is covered with feathers and create a cocoon of him, husk without the interior. Sculpture has two sides, the principle of duality, femininity and counterpart. Outer packaging evokes pleasant birdlike body surface and in the inner part aggressively squeeze ends of the wicks feathers.
Calculation of load on the electric drive of the gate
Randa, Daniel ; Veselka, František (referee) ; Janda, Marcel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the construction of drives for self-supporting gates. The main parts from which the drive is folded are not discussed here. In addition, the main points of load are solved which arise on the self-supporting gate and it´s contact with the guiding, carrying carts and movement elements. And here is explained what needs to be taken care of by the drive to accommodate the loads, which all aggravate the movement of the structure. in the work are also presented the load types of load calculations by which the drive parameters can be checked for suitability for the application.
Suggestion of case feeder for orientation intermediate product
Hanuska, Ján ; Holub, Michal (referee) ; Synek, Miloš (advisor)
The main subject of this bachelor´s thesis is to design case feeder for orientation of intermediate product. The first part deals with actual possibilities for feeding and orientation of different intermediate products. The second part focuses on various construction variants of case feeder, their analysis and choice of optimal solution. Construction design of chosen solution is elaborated in the third part and in the last part there is an economical analysis of chosen solution.
Issues of legislative tests in the assessment of exhaust pollutants
Filák, Martin ; Bazala, Jiří (referee) ; Beran, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with issues of legislative tests in the assessment of exhaust pollutants. It is mainly focused on the issues of the emission standards, the regulations and the principles of limiting the emissions. This thesis also includes an overview of the Dieselgate case and its impact on the society.
Design of demonstration suitcase with light sources
Vojkůvka, Jan ; Baxant, Petr (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design and realization of a demonstration case with light sources. The work explains the basic photometric parameters, contains the measurement of the reflectivity of samples. Furthermore, the work describes the design process, process of realization of the demonstration case, selection of light sources and brightness measurements performed on the finished demonstration case.
Gearbox for portable power generator
Kolka, Roman ; Hubáček,, Tomáš (referee) ; Bradáč, František (advisor)
The submitted project deals with a complete design of a gearbox of a portable ground power generator designed for preflight preparation of helicopters. The gearbox has been designed to meet given specifications, which are based on required electrical parameters of the entire power unit and with regards to parameters of driving turbine engine. The introductory section deals with a kinematical design of transmission gears with regards to required parameters and design constraints. The kinematical design determines whole concept and resulting form of the gearbox. Next part deals with optimization of gearing, the design of wheel bearing, and design of oil system. The implementation part of the project consists in the engineering design of the gearbox, which was made in 3D environment Pro/Engineer. The design is reviewed and first operational results of manufactured and tested gearbox are discussed in the concluding section of this work.
UML Diagrams Conversion between Visual Paradigm and Text-Based Formats
Ondrák, Lukáš ; Bartík, Vladimír (referee) ; Rychlý, Marek (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with possibilities of modifying and extending functionality of Visual Paradigm with plug-ins as well as the study of tools for creating UML diagrams. The primary goal of this thesis is to describe graphical tools and simultaneously, the less known variants of creating UML diagrams. Those are tools that process text UML formats. Special attention is given to text tool PlantUML and to the graphical tool Visual Paradigm. Furthermore, the thesis deals with use of the Visual Paradigm open interface for programmers to create plug-ins. The main output is an implemented plug-in that allows you to convert UML diagrams between Visual Paradigm and text format PlantUML, which was published as open source software. Grammar for the PlantUML language have also been created for this plug-in.
