Energy use of biomass
Holečková, Michaela ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is the research of different types of biomass, description of the various types of methods and technologies for energy usage of biomass and the mapping of large power plant units in the Czech Republic. The first part of this thesis deals with the definition of biomass, its distribution and the description of basic essential attributes describing its composition. The downstream part of this work is focused on the technologies of gaining energy out of biomass or its possible conversion into other products depending on the currently discussed type of technology. The last part deals with energy balances of biomass in the Czech Republic and focuses on individual companies who use biomass as an energy source, by applying one of the methods mentioned in the previous part.
Fast-growing trees as a renewable energy source
Žvaková, Veronika ; Půčková, Helena (referee) ; Kotlík, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on biomass as a renewable energy sources. The main topic is fast growing trees and their effects on biological diversity, the local ecosystem and landscape ecology. Literature survey was conducted regarding using this kind of biomass in the Czech Republic. Thesis reviews technological methods of cultivation and treatment of fast growing trees.
Hydrogen fuels
Tyagunova, Victoria ; Bébar, Ladislav (referee) ; Jícha, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis presents a basic review of production and use of hydrogen fuels. The main focus of this paper is the use of hydrogen in industry and power engineering. The first part concerns various industrial production technologies. The next section is dedicated to the description of hydrogen use for energy conservation, fuel cells, power plants and combustion engines. it includes the comparison of hydrogen and classic fuels. The final part focuses on the economy and costs of hydrogen production and use. This paper will evaluate hydrogen as a potencial fuel for future and will estimate it’s advantages and disadvantages in comparison with conventional fuels.
Small boilers as a source for family houses
Studnicki, Jakub ; Katolický, Jaroslav (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
The paper summarizes the basic parameters of boilers with low power for use in family homes. The boilers are divided into chapters according to the used fuel (gas, solid fuels, liquid fuels, biomass, pellets...). For each boiler there are basic characteristics, dimensions, methods of attachment to the wall or floor and if hot water heating is integrated. It is also characterized by a boiler heating system, i.e. the flue requirements, size and location of the water supply for heating. In another part there is an assessment of economic and environmental aspects of boilers. From an economic perspective I focus on a fuel economy and from an ecological mainly on the ratio of fuel efficiency and pollutants emitted into the air.
Solutions for using micro cogeneration in places where are not primarily available gas or liquid fuels
Kubínek, Martin ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Vojáčková, Jitka (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the usage of micro cogeneration units in the places where gas and liquid fuels are not primarily available. In the research part, the available technologies and the current condition of the market of micro cogeneration units, which use solid fuels, especially biomass, are described. In the technical-economical part, there is a design of the specific unit whose thermal output corresponds to the thermal rated loss of the chosen building. The payback period of the unit with a gasifier and with a combustion engine is estimated in the cases when the chosen building is currently heated by: lignite, wooden chips, electricity and the combination of natural gas and coke.
Use of renewable energy sources for family house heating
Jež, Dalibor ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The content of this bachelor’s thesis is the technical research focused on renewable sources of energy used for family house heating. The thesis is divided into several parts. The first part consists of general information, characteristics and dividing of each renewable sources. There are also their advantages and disadvantages. The second part of the thesis is focused on suggestion of concrete systems suitable for family house heating and is supplemented with their comparison.
Energy production and use of fast growing trees
Šebela, Jakub ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Moskalík, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is aimed at the theme production and energy use fast growing trees and implements a comprehensive energy balance of production of fast growing trees. The first part is aimed at definition, origin, sources, chemical composition, important energy properties of biomass and how to obtain energy from biomass. The next part is aimed at fast growing trees, especially those that are cultivated in the Czech Republic. This part includes history of cultivation, sources and establishment of short rotation plantations in the Czech Republic. The last part is aimed at energy balance of production of fast growing trees at the short rotation plantations and it also includes economic aspect of short rotation plantations.
Up-to-date technology for energy utilisation of biomass and waste
Krňávek, Martin ; Frýba, Lukáš (referee) ; Kropáč, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor‘s thesis deals with technologies for energy utilisation of biomass and waste. The introductory part is dedicated to biomass, its division and sources of biomass suitable for thermal treatment. The main part describes and compares technological units for energy utilisation of biomass, which is important for the Czech market. Furthermore there is described selected technologies for flue gas cleaning suitable especially for thermal treatment of waste. A basic design calculation of technological unit fired with wood chips for combined heat and power production is included here.
Solid Fuel Boilers
Skočík, Lukáš ; Špiláček, Michal (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis is engaged in heating of the family house by solid fuel boilers, both fossil fuels and the modern forms of biomass. The first section describes and explains the properties, composition and important characteristic quantities of these fuels. It also discusses the classification, description and processing options of solid fossil fuels and biomass. Then they are briefly described the principles of combustion boilers for these fuels along with their properties, advantages and disadvantages. The last section focuses on the selection of a suitable boiler fuel for the selected reference house.
Possibilities of energy exploitation of biomass – direct combustion
Hlaváč, David ; Niedoba, Pavel (referee) ; Jaroš, Michal (advisor)
The thesis deals with general definition of biomass and classifies biomass into groups by origin. The main focus of the thesis is on the conversion of raw biomass into the valuable energy sources and direct combustion of biomass.
