The Czech Community of Sokol and Its Relationship to Religion in the Period of Interwar Czechoslovakia Abstract This thesis deals with the relationship of the Sokol and religion and at the same time with the relationship to religious organizations predominantly during the First Republic, using period materials from archives and various records of prints that have been preserved to the present day. In the thesis we will be able to see the development of the Sokol from its earliest beginnings, through its involvement in historical events, especially its relationship to religion and to religious organizations that existed at the time of the First Republic. The thesis also deals with the changes in the passing time against the background of historical events and the thought development of the Sokol in the religious environment first in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and then in the time of the First Czechoslovak Republic until 1938. Jewish Roots of Christian Liturgy and Their Current Presence in the Practice of Particular Catholic Communities

The aim of the thesis Jewish Roots of Christian Liturgy and Their Current Presence in the Practice of Particular Catholic Communities is to map the current state of research about Jewish roots of Christian liturgy using the available literature as the basis and show on the specific example of two Catholic communities (Community of The Beatitudes and The Saint James Vicariate for Hebrew Speaking Catholics) how they experience these Jewish roots and how it manifests in their liturgical practice. The work is divided into two steps: In the first part, current knowledge about Jewish sources from which the Christian liturgy drew and draws is summarized. The most important elements, types and forms of Jewish prayers are described, and then it is described which parts of the Christian liturgy are based on which types and forms of prayers. In the second part, the history of the establishment of the Beatitudes Community and the Hebrew Parish is described and their liturgical practice is analyzed with a focus on their motivations for emphasis of the Jewish roots, the development of this practice and its specifics, and their relation to the original historical basis points. P. P. František Xaver Mimra (1886-1952) - country priest and martyr

The diploma thesis deals with the life story of priest František Xaver Mimra who spend almost the entire period of his priestly service in the parish of Raná. It briefly describes his family, studies and his path to priesthood. At first, he worked as a chaplain in the Raná parish for two years. Later, in 1915, at his own request he left for the parish of Dolní Újezd where he spent six years. In 1921, he returned to the Raná parish as a parish priest. For thirty years he lived in the parish taking care of the church, the rectory and, above all, inspiring encouraging the spiritual life of his parishioners. His work in the Raná parish was interrupted in 1949 by his arrest and the subsequent fabricated trial in which he was sentenced to three years in prison. In 1952, he was released, but because of his poor health, due to his imprisonment, he died a few months later. P. This Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of abortions in Poland. Primarily it focuses on anti-abortion legislation and public discourse. The main aim of the work is to analyse development of abortions laws in Poland and also major actors of this issue. Attention is mainly paid to the most current abortion legislation and the reactions which caused in society. Next it shows the connection between abortions and human rights. Therefore is this work complemented with the positions of selected organizations which deal with this topic in long term.

"Katolická akce" as a tool of communist propaganda for christians in Czechoslovakia in 1949-1951

The aim of this thesis is to show the specific elements of propaganda that the communist regime used to speak to Christians in Czechoslovakia in the years 1949- 1951 using the so-called Catholic Action. This movement was a tool of the communist regime that wanted to subjugate the Catholic Church and use it for its own purposes. Catholic Action was artificially maintained for almost two years and used in the press primarily as a supposed mouthpiece for all Catholics. Eventually, it disappeared from the pages of the newspapers. This thesis describes selected elements of propaganda using specific examples from periodicals of the time. The results can help us to gain insight into the mindset of the former communist regime.

The First Apostolic Nuncio in Prague Clemente Micara and his Reflection in the Contemporary Czech Press in the Years 1920-1923

In the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic, the Catholic Church lost the position it had in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. It was necessary to change almost the entire Church structure, replace the majority of the bishopric, establish new church schools and find a new way of coexistence of church and state. A papal nunciature was established in Prague and an embassy of the Czechoslovak Republic was established in Rome. The first Vatican nuncio, Clemente Micara, was sent to Prague, where he worked there for less than four years. His task was to carry out the necessary changes pro- posed by the Vatican to strengthen the position of the Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia, and his mission was successful.

The history of parish of Sušice 1900 - 1950

The bachelor thesis deals with the history of The Parish of Sušice between 1900 - 1950. The Parish includes the villages of Sušice, Budětice, Dlouhá Ves, Kolinec, Mlázovy, Rabí, Dobrá Voda, Petrovice u Sušice, Hartmanice, Hůrka, Kašperské Hory, Mouřenec, Prášily, Rejštejn and Srní. The main attention is paid to activities in Sušice. It depicts a gradual different background in the periods of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, World War I, the First Republic, the Nezi occupation, the post-war renewal after 1945 with the coup in February 1948. It describes important spiritual as well as secular personalities who affected the life in the parish and in the city of Sušice. This thesis concerns with the persecution of priests after 1948. The aim is to describe the events in The Parish of Sušice in detail, the particular deans and significant clerics, the care of church sights and monuments and the change of life in the city and in the vinicity taking into account society-wide events.

The Changes of Church Communication in the Third Millennium: The Reform of Vatican Media and its Impacts in the Period of the Credibility Crisis

This thesis explores a specific part of the contemporary Church communication area: the Vatican media reform that started in 2015, two years after the appointment of Pope Francis, as a part of the gradual reform of the whole Roman Curia. The aim of this still unfinished media reform is to make Vatican media (radio, TV, press office, news website Vatican News etc.) more technologically and financially effective, to share the message of Pope Francis through the most modern communication channels, to employ more laymen instead of clerics (in 2018 prefect Paolo Ruffini became the first layperson who ever led the Vatican dicastery), and to give voice to the local Church in the world. The many shifts included media unification, convergence, digitization, employing social media and a more reciprocal relationship with the public. Nevertheless, the secondary aim of the reform was to transform Vatican media into more transparent, trustworthy, and reliable source of information about the Church and the faith - especially in this era of a "credibility crisis" caused by the abuse of authority, power, conscience and sexual abuse of minors and vulnerable adults. Communication of Pope Francis from the Perspective of High School Students

The bachelor thesis "Communication of Pope Francis from the Perspective of High School Students" aims to map the view of selected religious high school students on the communication of Pope Francis and the Catholic Church as such. In particular, the research focuses on the way young people perceive the Pope's communication, whether they perceive differences between Pope Francis' communication and the communication of the Catholic Church, and whether the topics Pope Francis emphasizes in his communication are important for today's young generation. The analysis of the data collected from the interviews is conducted through open coding. The analytical part of the thesis is preceded by a theoretical introduction to the current state of the Catholic Church as well as an insight into the history of the papacy and its role in society. The theoretical part also discusses church communication in general, describing the tools it uses and the target groups the church focuses on today. Finally, a brief biography of Pope Francis and the form of communication used during his pontificate is also described here.
