The Analysis of Selected Legends of Alois Jirásek and the Problematics of their Illustrations

This bachelor thesis deals with selected literary tales from the collection of Ancient Bohemian Legens compiled by Alois Jirásek, first published in 1894. It also compares illustrations by Věnceslav Černý, Antonín Procházka, Jiří Trnka and especially Mikoláš Aleš. At the same time, the thesis briefly outlines Jirásek's life and work. The theoretical part is complemented by a practical part, which includes the artistic reinterpretation of the selected legend according to the inspiration of Mikoláš Aleš.
Old Czech legends and their current treatment

Resumé The thesis is focused on the processing of old Czech legends in literature for children. The aim is to show how the writers adapted legend the children. The initial treatment the Old Czech Legends by Alois Jirásek. The theoretical part deals with legends, its types, legends in the folk tradition and legends in children's literature. The practical part is interpreted five books of legends from children's literature. Interpretation shows different ways that authors use to approach reputation child readers, or even shift the topic, if any. The conclusion summarizes the findings arising from the interpretation.
Art interpretation of Czech history in the historical prose by Alois Jirásek

The thesis deals with the issues of literary-historical situation of works by Alois Jirásek in the Czech tradition of the historical novel and characteristic of literary representation of history by the writer. The thing is that after the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918 Jirásek became the official symbol of the literature of the new state, and younger authors followed him ideologically, thematically, and after the formal construction of works. Jirásek's authority didn't weaken in the second half of the 20th century, when his method of literary interpretation of Czech history was ideologically misused. On the basis of literary analysis of two historical novels (Proti všem and Temno), the author of thesis describes Jirásek's narrative style and the means of expression that gives the writer the possibility to reach the art effectiveness of his novels. The concept of historicism in selected works of Alois Jirásek and Zikmund Winter

This diploma thesis deals with contribution of chosen writings by Alois Jirásek and Zikmund Winter. It tries to clarify the term historism and its infiltration into Czech literature, particularly in novels Temno and Mistr Kampanus. The thesis also outlines the period after the Battle of the White Mountain. Its consequences dramatically influenced political, religious, social and cultural conditions in the Czech lands. It defines terms historical novel and historical short story to specify the border between this genre and the other proses of the then time. The practical part gives a concrete form of a complex interpretation of novels Temno and Mistr Kampanus. It introduces a dispute over historism between Alois Jirásek and Zikmund Winter. With the aid of content analysis of chosen readers for primary and secondary schools the thesis finds out the frequency of extracts by mentioned authors in schoolbooks. In closing the thesis focuses on evaluation of searched extracts in readers and mentions also FEP.

Thesis Life and works of Viktor Kamil Jeřábek in the shadow of more famous writers deals with the personality, career and literary works of a teacher and a writer Viktor Kamil Jeřábek through his memoirs and published as well as archived works. The second part compares Jeřábek's prose works concerning Litomyšl with the works of Alois Jirásek and Alois Vojtěch Šmilovský, all of which are thematically similar. Adaptation of Alois Jirásek's works in the films of the 1950s

Alois Jirásek (1851 - 1930) was an important Czech writer and author of many historical novels and plays. Jirásek's work has always been very popular. After World War II and the onset of communism in Czechoslovakia Jirasek was promoted to the chief authority in interpreting Czech history. The thesis aims to deal with the second life of Alois Jirásek in the 1950's in the context of filmmaking. This thesis will primarily focus on the films Temno (Darkness, 1950), Psohlavci (The Dog Heads, 1955), Jan Hus (1954), Jan Žižka (1955), Proti všem (Against All, 1956) and Ztracenci (Lost Children, 1956).
The Reflection of White Mountain time in Czech historical Prose of 19th century

(in English): The theme of the thesis is a reflection of the White Mountain events and life in the time after White Mountain in Czech historical prose of 19th century. On selected prose works (especially proses created by Alois Jirásek) will be shown the way how Czech society perceived the White Mountain battle and its consequences. Attention will be paid to the way how the individual historical prose shaped the myth of White Mountain and what were the national and political interests and ideals or differences and the preferences of the individual authors who approached to the White Mountain theme.
Fairy Tale Drama around the turn of the 19th and the 20th century

The aim of this bachelor thesis is an attempt to define and characterize the genre of fairy tale drama and also by analysing individual plays we outline the changes within the entire genre. When defining the term of fairy tale drama, we highlight mainly the elements that show the difference between the fairy tale drama and the fairy story. As to the changes within the genre we will first focus on authors from other countries and then we will deal with Czech authors. To characterize the changes within the genre in Bohemia, we have selected seven texts in which we will observe the circumstances leading to their conception and creation, as well as the composition, reception, motives, the way of describing space-time and the psychology of the characters featured.
