Evaluation of environmental situation in Czech Republic

In May survey 2008 CVVM focused on evaluation of environmental situation in Czech Republic by our citizens. Battery concerning this topic contained 11 items and respondents had to evaluate, whether in concrete case see the situation as “very good”, “rather good”, “rather bad” or “very bad”. The worst situation is according to obtained answers in charge of environment by road transport, when 91 % of Czechs view this problem as bad. On the other hand least respondents evaluate as bad situation in respect of saving of consumption by citizens (52 %).
Public opinion on the environmental protection

In May 2008 Centre for Public Opinion Research investigated how are particular precautions concerning environment protection popular among czech public. 74 % of informants claimed that environmental protection is a task for government and they shouldnt participate financially on it. On the other hand the majority agree that it’s sensible to protect environment even it costs more time or some additional money.
Satisfaction with current conditions of some areas of public life

As a part of June survey realized by CVVM there was a question which asked how informants would evaluate some areas of public life. People are most satisfied with supply of goods and services (80 % of respondents expressed their satisfaction), with current situation of Czech culture (60 %) and with relationships of the Czech Republic with foreign countries (45 %). On the contrary dissatisfaction prevails with such areas as a corruption and economical criminality. 74 % of Czech citizens are dissatisfied with economical criminality and 82 % of people are discontented with corruption.
Public Attitude to Death Penalty

In May survey Centre for Public Opinion Research SOÚ AV ČR, v.v.i., asked respondents about their attitude to death penalty. As a part of this press information the answers of respondents are sorted according to socio-demographic indicators a there is also time comparison with results from previous results, because this question has been a part of continual CVVM surveys since 1992.

Public opinion about foeticide and euthanasia

In May survey Public Opinion Research Center focused on public opinions of women´s right to decide herself to end her pregnancy. Within the survey people also have been expressing their sentiment about acceptability or unacceptability of euthanasia. As a part of this press information there were answers sorted according to socio-demographic indicators and table with data from previous surveys.
Citizens satisfaction with living conditions at their place of residence

Within April survey CVVM investigated how were informants satisfied with living conditions at their place of residence. Two thirds of informants were satisfied at all, one quarter wasn‘t satisfied nor dissatisfied and only 7 % were dissatisfied at all. Informants were also asked to evaluate following particular conditions influencing the standard of living. People were most satisfied with installation of gas, electricity, water and with sewerage (92 % “certainly + rather satisfied”) and 87 % were satisfied with disposal of municipal waste. These two were followed by human relations (77 %), service level (74 %), cleanness of the streets (72 %) and environment (72 %). The worst evaluated aspects were the level of wages (67 % “certainly + rather dissatisfied”), job oportunity (56 %), building up of new flats (54 %) and maintenance of municipal flats and houses (38 %).
Czech citizens´ attitude to rights of homosexual couples

In May survey CVVM focused on public opinions of rights of gays and lesbians such as right to get married, right for registered partnership and right for children adoption. As a part of this press information there were answers sorted according to socio-demographic indicators and according to answer on a question whether a respondent knows a gay or a lesbian personally.
Popularity of Top Politicians

In May 2008 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR investigated whether respondents trust to selected top politicians. They were given a list with 25 names of top politicians. In a survey there were included names of membres of Parliament, president, chairmen of Senate and Chamber of Deputies, leaders of political parties in Parliament, ombudsman and chief of Constitutional Court.
Citizens on Economic Situation of Their Households

In April survey CVVM SOÚ AV ČR examined how Czech citizens see the financial situation of their households. They evaluated whether it is difficult to manage with their earnings, but also talked about attitudinal feeling of poverty. The survey also investigated whether it is difficult to meet some life requirements such as foodstuff, clothes and shoes, housing, water and energy, furniture, common non-food products, cultural and sport activities, health care and education. Results of the survey were compared with previous surveys.
