Thermal stability of Ti/Ni multilayer thin films
Václavík, R. ; Zábranský, L. ; Souček, P. ; Sťahel, P. ; Buršík, Jiří ; Fořt, Tomáš ; Buršíková, V.
In this work, thermal stability and mechanical properties of Ti/Ni multilayer thin films were studied. The multilayer thin films were synthesised by alternately depositing Ti and Ni layers using magnetron sputtering. The thickness of constituent layers of Ti and Ni varied from 1.7 nm to 10 nm, and one coating was deposited by simultaneous sputtering of both targets. Single crystalline silicon was used as a substrate. The effects of thermal treatment on the mechanical properties were studied using nanoindentation and discussed in relation to microstructure evaluated by X-ray diffraction. Annealing was carried out under low-pressure conditions for 2 hours in the range of 100-800 degrees C.

The aim of the present work was to study the dependence of mechanical properties of Ti/Ni multilayer thin films on the thicknesses of constituent Ti and Ni layers. The multilayer thin films were synthesized by deposition of Ti and Ni layers alternately on single crystalline silicon substrates using direct current magnetron sputtering method. Thicknesses of Ti and Ni layers varied from 1.7 nm to 100 nm. The micro-structure of the multilayer films was studied using X-ray diffraction technique, scanning electron microscopy with focused ion beam technique and transmission electron microscopy. Mechanical properties obtained from nanoindentation experiments were discussed in relation to microstructural observations.

This study is aimed at the basic research of plasma polymer films and an influence of deposition conditions on structure and properties of single-layer films and multilayers prepared by PE CVD method. Single layer and multilayered a-SiC:H films were deposited on silicon wafers from tetravinylsilane monomer (TVS) at different powers in continual and pulse regimes. The films were investigated extensively by spectroscopic ellipsometry, nanoindentation, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS), X-ray reflectivity, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and contact angle measurements to observe their optical, mechanical and chemical properties. The influence of the deposition condition on the physicochemical properties of pp-TVS films was revealed and quantified. Single layers were also exposed to UV light as post-deposition treatment to investigate aging effects and the influence of UV irradiation on their physical and chemical properties. Multilayered structures (bi-layered and 10-layered plasma polymerized films) of individual layer thickness down to 25 nm were successfully deposited and characterized by ellipsometric spectroscopy. Materials with tailored properties can be developed for nanocomposite applications and optical devices.
Následně byly připravovány jednoduché a vrstevnaté tenké polymerní struktury z par monomeru tetravinylsilanu. Depoziční průběh byl monitorován spektroskopickou elipsometrií a hmotnostní spektroskopií. Připravené tenké vrstvy byly charakterizovány mikroskopickými a spektroskopickými technikami. Stanovené fyzikální a chemické vlastnosti připravených struktur byly sledovány s ohledem na depoziční podmínky a fragmentaci molekuly monomeru v nízkoteplotním plazmatu.
Práce shrnuje základní teorii magnetismu, magnetotransportních vlastností a popisuje základní aplikace magnetických multivrstev. V experimentální části práce je popsána příprava magnetických multivrstev metodou iontového naprašování (IBS) s možností depozice s asistujícím iontovým svazkem (IBAD) a dále charakterizace těchto vrstev pomocí měření jevů anizotropní magnetorezistence (AMR), obří magnetorezistence (GMR) a tunelové magnetorezistence (TMR).

Secondary electron contrast of dopped regions in semiconductor - a matter of surface treatment?
Frank, Luděk ; Müllerová, Ilona ; El-Gomati, M.
Direct observation of doped patterns in semiconductor, usually on cleavedsections through multilayers but recently also in plan views of patterneddoping of a technological layer, is acquiring high interest because of its straightforward application in the semiconductor technology. Plenty of experimental data has been collected [1-4] from conventional SEM observation and recently first results showed improved contrasts attainable with specimen immersed into electric field. Main features are the sign of contrast- the p-type regions are always brighter than the n-type ones, and the contrast grows toward lower energies.
