Saafi, Salwa ; Bečvář, Zdeněk (oponent) ; Tölli, Antti (oponent) ; Hošek, Jiří (vedoucí práce)
Smartphones are no longer the only portable devices changing the lives and daily routines of today’s digitally connected consumers. Smart glasses, watches, headsets, cameras, bands, trackers, monitors, and scanners are all examples of hands-free inherently mobile wearable devices that enable the emerging consumer and industrial applications. Similarly to customers who are ready to embrace life-changing experiences with new devices, companies and industries are also employing smart helpers and intelligent assistant systems to improve the efficiency of their automated processes and the productivity and safety of their workers. Not limited to the employment of smart helpers, the industrial digital transformation relies heavily on the deployment of communication infrastructures that utilize efficient cellular technologies to meet the dissimilar requirements of industrial applications. Motivated by these intelligent assistant systems and communication technologies, this dissertation focuses on the role of wearable technology and cellular connectivity in enabling the automation of vertical domains. Aiming to address the current technology gap behind cellular-enabled industrial wearables, the present work is dedicated to assessing the applicability of cellular connectivity to industrial wearables and developing efficient access and backhaul solutions for the support of the requirements of emerging industrial applications. The following outline of this dissertation is built around the main objectives as highlighted above and presents the main outcomes of this work, which include (i) a concise technology review capturing the evolution of the recent solutions proposed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for wearable devices and communications, (ii) an introduction to novel categories of industrial wearable applications with mid-end requirements that fall in-between the two extremes of high-end and low-end Fifth-Generation (5G) service classes, (iii) an assessment of the applicability of the emerging Reduced-Capability New Radio (NR RedCap) technology to the newly introduced wearable applications, (iv) an extension of the RedCap wearable communications with Device-to-Device (D2D) and Supplementary Uplink (SUL) capabilities for enhanced access network performance, (v) a cost-efficient backhaul selection solution based on Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) for time-sensitive wearable applications in an integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication scenario, and (vi) a data-driven Artificial Intelligence (AI)-aided approach for the management of complex industrial networks with dissimilar device capabilities, communication solutions, and application requirements. A set of simulation and analytical models is developed to assess the relevant key performance indicators as part of the above contributions. Beyond indicating the need for technology improvement demanded by the efficient integration of wearable devices into cellular networks and the satisfaction of industrial application requirements, the numerical results reported in this dissertation confirm the network performance enhancements achieved by the access and backhaul solutions contributed in this work.
Optimization of Wireless Networks Infrastructure Using Artificial Intelligence Methods
Šeda, Pavel ; Assoc. Prof. Sergey Andreev, D.Sci. (Tech.) (oponent) ; Araniti, Giuseppe (oponent) ; Hošek, Jiří (vedoucí práce)
The dissertation is focused on optimization of network infrastructures using artificial intelligence algorithms. The growing requirements for network traffic in 5G+ networks require decisive modifications to the network infrastructures. The main aim of this dissertation is to design an optimization model and algorithms for selecting suitable locations for the base station deployment. The proposed optimization model reflects the essential requirements of wireless coverage in today's networks, such as the required capacity (base stations and end-users), existing infrastructure, interference between base stations, or coverage range. Since the model represents an exponential problem that is not possible to solve for larger instances exactly in the available time, it was essential to apply artificial intelligence methods. For the computation the heuristic algorithms were selected and implemented, these are discussed in detail in the dissertation text. The proposed optimization models and algorithms are subsequently verified using suitable simulations for urban, suburban, or rural areas. The practical use of the proposed solution is considered as an additional module to existing tools, recommending the locations to deploy new base stations when the network parameters change (e.g., higher capacity requirements in certain areas), serving as a basis for further practical verification. To conclude, the main contributions are in the design of models extending classical covering problems together with the implementation using modified heuristic algorithms. Including their subsequent verification at instances with hundreds of thousands of nodes and their publication in impact journals and at international conferences.

Název práce: Narušení elektroslabé symetrie dynamickým generováním hmot kvarků a leptonů Autor: Adam Smetana Katedra: Ústav částicové a jaderné fyziky MFF UK Vedoucí disertační práce: Ing. Jiří Hošek, DrSc., Oddělení teoretické fyziky, Ústav jaderné fyziky, AV ČR, v. v. i.
Dynamical symmetry breaking in models with strong Yukawa interactions
Beneš, Petr ; Hošek, Jiří (vedoucí práce) ; Hořejší, Jiří (oponent) ; Olejník, Štefan (oponent)
Název práce: Dynamické narušení symetrie v modelech se silnými yuka- wovskými interakcemi Autor: Petr Beneš Katedra: Ústav teoretické fyziky MFF UK Vedoucí disertační práce: Ing. Jiří Hošek, DrSc., Oddělení teoretické fyziky, Ústav jaderné fyziky, AV ČR, v. v. i.
Regime of Thunderstorm occurence in Slovakia
Kontrošová, Jana ; Sládek, Ivan (vedoucí práce) ; Hošek, Jiří (oponent)
4 Abstract The subject matter of my thesis is the regime of thunderstorm occurrence in Slovakia. In the theoretic part of my work, I deal with thunderstorm categorization, condition of its creation and development and with side-effect phenomena. I also mention continentality of climate, which is linked with disintegration and occurrence of days of thunderstorms and thunderstorms. In the practical part, I focus on statistic analysis of number of days of thunderstorms and thunderstorms at the Irish meteorological station Valentia, which represents ocean climate and at 5 Slovak meteorological stations with continental climate in the period of 1961 - 2006 or 2007. I study the trend during years, months, seasons and number of thunderstorm phenomena at the stations, while comparing principles of oceanic and continental climate in the context of thunderstorms and days of thunderstorms occurrence. The main object of my thesis it to define thunderstorm season at each station by method of cumulative series designed by I. Sládek. Conventionally specified seasons do not always match reality. By this method, it is able to determine the natural beginning, end and duration of seasons according to selected climatological parameter. The thunderstorm season at Slovak meteorological stations usually begins at 3rd of May, ends...
