Higher dimensional Robinson-Trautman spacetimes sourced by p-forms: static and radiating black holes
Ortaggio, Marcello ; Podolský, J. ; Žofka, M.
We summarize results about Robinson-Trautman spacetimes in the presence of an aligned p-form Maxwell field and an arbitrary cosmological constant in n >= 4 dimensions. While in odd dimensions the solutions reduce to static black holes dressed with an electric and a magnetic field (with an Einstein space horizon), in even dimensions 2p = n they may also describe black holes gaining (or losing) mass by receiving (or emitting) electromagnetic radiation. The Weyl type of the spacetimes is also briefly discussed in all the possible cases.
Numerical implementation of equations for photon motion in Kerr spacetime
Bursa, Michal
Raytracing is one of the essential tools for accurate modeling of spectra and variability of various astrophysical objects. It has a major importance in relativisticenvironments, where light endures to a number of relativistic effects. Because the trajectories of light rays in curved spacetimes, and in Kerr spacetime in particular, are highly non-trivial, we summarize the equations governing the motion of photon\n(or any other zero rest mass particle) and give analytic solution of the equations thatcan be further used in practical computer implementations.
Analytical solution for charged fluid pressure profiles - circulation in combined electromagnetic field
Kovář, J. ; Slaný, P. ; Stuchlík, Z. ; Karas, Vladimír ; Trova, A.
We introduce a general transformation leading to an integral form of pressure equations characterizing equilibrium configurations of charged perfect fluid circling in strong gravitational and combined electromagnetic fields. The transformation generalizes our recent analytical treatment applicable to electric or magnetic fields treated separately along with the gravitational one. As an example, we present a particular solution for a fluid circling close to a charged rotating black hole immersed in an asymptotically uniform magnetic field.
Modelling the bow–shock evolution along the DSO/G2 orbit in the Galactic centre
Štofanová, L. ; Zajaček, M. ; Kunneriath, D. ; Eckart, A. ; Karas, Vladimír
A radially directed flow of gaseous environment from a supermassive black hole affects the evolution of a bow–shock that develops along the orbit of an object passing through the pericentre. The bow–shock exhibits asymmetry between the approaching and receding phases, as can be seen in calculations of the bow-shock size, the velocity profile along the shocked layer, and the surface density of the bow–shock,\nand by emission-measure maps. We discuss these effects in the context of the recent pericentre transit of DSO/G2 near Sagittarius A*.
Truncation of AGN jets by their interaction with a passing star cluster
Araudo, Anabella ; Karas, Vladimír
We study the interaction of a cluster of massive stars with AGN jets as a continuous process that must occur repetitively in galactic nuclei and a promising mechanism that can trigger production of high–energy particles.
Modified Newtonian potentials for particles and fluids in permanent rotation around black holes
Karas, Vladimír ; Abramowicz, M. A.
Modified Newtonian potentials have been proposed for the description of relativistic effects acting on particles and fluids in permanent orbital motion around black holes.
Equilibria of charged dust tori in a dipole magnetic field: hydrodynamic approach
Slaný, P. ; Kovář, J. ; Stuchlík, Z. ; Karas, Vladimír
The authors present Newtonian model of non-conductive charge perfect fluid tori orbiting in combined spherical gravitational and dipolar magnetic fields, focusing on stationary, axisymmetric toroidal structures.
Preliminary results on Type I and II Kaluza–Klein reductions of vacuum spacetimes
Tintěra, Tomáš
We review the formalism used for the algebraic classification of higher- dimensional spacetimes, together with a few basic results in this field. Then we use this formalism to discuss some problems involving type I and II Kaluza–Klein reductions of vacuum spacetimes and to present a few results.
