12th International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Symposium
Macek, Tomáš ; Macková, M. ; Jenč, P. ; Demnerová, K.
The schedule of symposium is quite rich and includes sessions on a broad variety of related topics, ranging from biochemistry and genetics of biodegradation of organic compounds, issues of environmental toxicity, through construction of genetically modified organisms, to the biodegradation of cultural property.
Phytoremediation and biodegradation of PCB in soil
Ryšlavá, E. ; Krejčík, Zdeněk ; Macek, Tomáš ; Macková, M.
This is a part of the research work focused on study of possible mutual relationships of microorganisms and plants in PCBs metabolism. Polluted soil was obtained from a site which has been contaminated by PCBs for a long time. This soil was used for isolation of bacteria whixh potentially participate in biolodegradation of PCBs. The same contaminated soil was used for experiments under real conditions. Within six months three plant species were cultivated-tobaco (Nicotiana tabacum), black nighshade (Solanum nigrum) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa) - and decrease of PCBs was measured.
Use of DGE method in ecological studies
Vosáhlová, Jolana ; Rucká, Lenka ; Vránová, Alena ; Brennerová, Mária ; Brenner, Vladimír
DGGE (denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis) method was developed a few years ago as a powerful tool for detection of even sigle base pair mutations.
Construction of bacterial strains containing fluorescent and bioluminiscent makers
Jindrová, Eva ; Rucká, Lenka ; Nováková, H. ; Jurčová, Irena ; Brennerová, Mária ; Demnerová, K. ; Brenner, Vladimír
One of the most effective method for removal of organic pollutants seem to be construction of permeable barriers, allows removal of mixed contaminants with consequent utilization of rhizosphere systems.
