Water park Brno
Krček, Jan ; Vostrejž, Dušan (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
Diploma thesis Aquapark Brno is directly connected with the previous specialist course "Sports Center Za Lužánkami Brno". This project dealt was focused on overall concept, architectural and urban study of this area with an emphasis on sports, recreation and relaxation. There was created a zone of predominantly professional sport in the southern part of this area. There were built football and ice hockey stadiums on the newly created terrace/platform. These stadiums are located approximately in the same places as their current (football) or non-existent (hockey) predecessors. The terrace/platform (parking is located under the terrace) continues, and the newly expanded Boby Hotel follows the recreational sports zone with an Aquapark and outdoor sports grounds located behind the existing Tesco shopping centre. There is formed a new park in north of the sports grounds forming a recreational-relaxation zone on the territory of Planýrka. The existing building of a 50 meter swimming pool dominates the area of Aquapark. It was built in 1979 according to the project architect Otakar Oplatek. However this object no longer meets the requirements of today's visitors or athletes. The new building which includes a twenty-five meter tall swimming pool with a background is being added to the existing building. So there is a separable swimming area created here, which can serve both - swimmers and teenagers or professional athletes. There is a good possibility of racing as well. The new building connects eastward to the building of the roofed Aquapark partially hidden beneath the terraces and resting areas. These three through-flowing but mutually separable objects together with the platform define the area of the outdoor aquapark. He is also separate off from the noisy Sportovní street, but it has a sufficient supply of sunlight. In the place of the original children's pool and extension to the places of today's little park in front of the building there is space f
Sports and Relaxation Centre Vsetín, Ohrada
Pohludka, Jan ; Vostrejž, Dušan (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
The diploma thesis The Sports & Relaxation Center Vsetín, Ohrada deals with an area surrounding former spartakiad stadium. This area is defined by the Vsetínská Bečva from the north-west, a limited-access road from the north-east and by waterworks from the south. That is how it creates notional triangle on the south outskirts of the town of Vsetín. The project aims to motivate people to spend more time doing sports activities in a beautiful environment located near the Bečva river and so offer them healthier possibility compared to time spend in shopping centers or block of flats. Since the environs of the area are extensively varied, we can’t follow current street network. So, I decided to create centralized urban concept and imaginary turn back to the town with a wall, which separates quiet pedestrian zones of the sports complex from everyday city rush and opens the view of the river, nearby wooded hills and meadows. Thanks to the aforementioned wall we will also have a use for the soil from the stands of the existing stadium. As we talk about area seemingly laying behind the built-up urban boundary, the landscape is more important than the urban structure, and the individual buildings are located outside the viewpoints, making them only supplementary elements to the ever-present greenery. The composition of the buildings consists of a central atypical hall and two type commercial buildings on the sides, where there are individual sports facilities and multipurpose grass areas between them.

The design of the sports and recreation center in Vsetín solves the complete revitalization of the unused territory on the periphery of the town in the Ohrada district. The aim of the project is to revive the poorly accessible and neglected area and its use not only for a wide range of sports activities, but also for leisure activities and recreation. The whole area should be freely accessible and open to a wide range of public. Four main buildings are designed in the complex: a multi-purpose sports hall, a hotel, a tennis club and a snack bar with a bicycle service. There is a football field, a basketball court and a small football pitch on the open spaces between these objects, as well as two climbing walls, an outdoor gym and a parkour area with many obstacles. The rest of the areas are pavements and free grass areas intended for leisure and recreation of visitors.

Both of these objects are at the same height level that are joined together in the western part. From the eastern side, these two objects divide the half-closed atrium, which is open to Těžební Street. Thanks to regular column rafters, the entire building is designed as a prefabricated reinforced concrete skeleton, covered with kingspan sandwich panels and a partially glazed facade made of profiled glass call profilit that illuminates the entire interior of the building. It is located in the northern part of the slope, where is the best available from the traffic and besides provides a remarkable view on the city. The object creates a symetrical compact matter, which with each ground floor stands back, so that the spacious terraces could be established. The dominant of the project is a covered passage, which intersect the matter in the axis, so it takes a shortcut through the building. The place serves as a hotel-based, relaxing space constituted by fast-food stands and playground. The southern part of the covered passage continues in a hotel-based stairway allowing undisturbed recreation. The intention of the project is a formation of a compact unit, which separates the two operations, so that the layout of communication remains and the best orientation to all cardinal points is enabled. In the basement is situated the café with an outside terrace and fitness centre, both with the entrance from the southern side. In the other above-ground floor are to be found dwelling units accessible from the north on the covered exterior stairways.
