Location-aware data transfers scheduling for distributed virtual walkthrough applications.
Přibyl, Jaroslav ; Sochor, Jiří (oponent) ; Sojka, Eduard (oponent) ; Zemčík, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
Data transfers scheduling process is an important part of almost all distributed virtual walkthrough applications. Its main purpose is to preserve data transfer efficiency and rendered image quality. The most limiting factors here are network restrictions. These restrictions can be reduced using multi-resolution data representation, download priority determination and data prefetching algorithms. Advanced priority determination and data prefetching methods use mathematic description of motion to predict next position of a user. These methods can accurately predict only close future positions. In the case of sudden but regular changes in user motion direction (road networks), these algorithms are not sufficient to predict future position with required accuracy and at required distance. In this thesis a systematic solution to data transfers scheduling is proposed which solves also these cases. The proposed solution uses next location prediction methods to compute download priority or additionally prefetch data needed to render a scene in advance. Experiments show that compared to motion functions the proposed scheduling scheme can increase data transfer efficiency and rendered image quality during exploration of tested scene.
Code Characterization for Automated User Interface Generation
Kadlec, Jaroslav ; Slavík,, Pavel (oponent) ; Sochor, Jiří (oponent) ; Zemčík, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
This work presents novel approach to automation of user interface creation. A taxonomy based on data characterization was adopted and new taxonomy for code characterization is proposed. Taxonomy points most important aspects of data and code so that it can be used in a process of automated user interface creation. The taxonomy is platform independent and can be stored as a metadata in the application file or in a separate external file. A process of automated user interface creation based on the taxonomy is proposed and individual parts of the process are described in more detail. Presented taxonomy and process of user interface generation are demonstrated on examples.
High-Quality Shadow Rendering from Complex Light Sources
Navrátil, Jan ; Sochor, Jiří (oponent) ; Navrátil, Jan (oponent) ; Zemčík, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
In interactive applications, shadows are traditionally rendered using the shadow mapping algorithm. The disadvantage of the algorithm is limited resolution of depth texture which may lead to unpleasant visual artifacts on shadow edges. This work introduces an approach that is based on the improved texture warping. It allows for rendering a scene with the complex light sources, reduce the artifacts on the shadow boundaries and also improve the quality of the shadows regardless of the type of the scene and its configuration.
Correspondence Problem in Geometrics Morphometric Tasks
Krajíček, Václav ; Pelikán, Josef (vedoucí práce) ; Kosinka, Jiří (oponent) ; Sochor, Jiří (oponent)
Název práce: Problém korespondence v úlohách geometrické morfometrie Autor: Václav Krajíček Katedra / Ústav: Katedra software a výuky informatiky Vedoucí doktorské práce: RNDr.
