Dorňáková, Tereza ; Simbartlová, Anna (advisor) ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (referee)
This thesis is focused on the development of the Norwegian integration policies from the year 2005 until 2017. The milestone of the researched period is the year 2011 when two terrorist attacks, committed by a Norwegian citizen Anders Behring Breivik, shocked Norwegian society. He pointed his act against the immigrant population living in Norway, and against multiculturalism and the politicians who supported this model. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to find out which changes were made in the field of integration policies during the examined period. Furthermore, the aim is to tell whether the integration policies were tightened or not. The thesis first deals with the development of migration in the Norwegian context, the multicultural approach to immigrants, but it also sums up the development of Norwegian political scene during the examined period. The final part is focused on the research of particular Norwegian integration policies and their development between 2005 and 2017.
Transformations of Czech-French bilingual sections in the Czech Republic from 1990s to present
Kačerová, Eliška ; Emler, David (advisor) ; Simbartlová, Anna (referee)
Shortly after the end of communist regime, four Czech high schools opened French classes. These so-called bilingual sections could have been founded thanks to resumption of Czech-French relation after they were silent for more than 50 years. Support of this special school programme reflected the intensity of bilateral cooperation in the field of culture and education. However, in the present day it can be observed that bilingual French sections do not receive same amount of support and interest. In addition, their condition is not equivalent to state of their founding. This bachelor thesis focuses on the evolution of these sections and aims to analyse, which are the crucial changes from the beginning 1990 to this day that made an impact on them. The introductory of this paper presents the historical context. First chapter is dedicated to transformation that took place in France. In particularly it focuses on new approach to cultural diplomacy, that caused decline in interest for Czech Republic, and revaluation of amount of investment that goes to bilateral educational cooperation. Second chapter works with transformations that occurred in Czech Republic on several levels. First it refers to the change in society regarding French language but also French education system. Subsequently it describes...

Simbartlová, Anna ; Tomalová, Eliška (advisor) ; Bauer, Paul (referee)
The Master thesis "Civic Integration of Immigrants in France between 2002-2012" deals with a new integration model of civic integration which the European immigration countries have begun to enforce since the turn of the millennium. An interesting feature of this model is that it is employed by countries whose approch to the integration of immigrants significantly differed till the end of the 20th century. The goal of the thesis is to discover what character shows the civic integration as a new integration model of immigrants in Europe in the integration policies applied in France between 2002-2012. The main hypothesis is based on the theory of the return of assimilation. Its author R. Brubaker claims that in the current integration policies of (not only) European states, the assimilationist tendencies return - however, not in the original concept of assimilation, but in a new transformed concept in between assimilation and multiculturalism. The thesis applies this theory conclusion to the contemporary civic integration policies, so the research verifies its assimilationist character. According to the method specially compiled for this research, the results prove that the integration measures accepted in France between 2002-2012 show a development from a moderate to considerable assimilationist...
Alliance française and Institut français: cooperation or competition? The Case of the Czech Republic.
Simbartlová, Anna ; Tomalová, Eliška (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Alliance Française and Institut Français: Cooperation or Competition? (The Case of the Czech Republic)" deals with the Czech model of activities provided by the French cultural institutions abroad and the potential complementarity or rivalry of theirs. The first chapter briefly introduces the general cultural diplomacy and afterwards deals with the French model of this policy. Among the specific elements of the French cultural diplomacy belongs the wide net of cultural centres which is created by two types of institutions namely Instituts français, organised by the French government, and Alliances françaises associations which are governmentally independent. The thesis is further specialised on the case of the Czech Republic where there simultaneously exist both of above mentioned types of cultural institutions. The second chapter describes mainly their functioning and activities, and the third chapter subsequently analyses their reciprocal relationship. The aim of this thesis is to research whether this relationship is complementary or conflicting. The thesis comes to the conclusion that in spite of certain collisions of interests between Institut français and Alliances françaises in the Czech model, the close cooperation which is in motion between them and which constitutes...
