Development of functional socio-economic specialization of the United Arab Emirates - comparison of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Koblížková, Adéla ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Pulec, Jan (referee)
Over the past 50 years, the United Arab Emirates have undergone rapid development as a result of the country's extensive oil reserves, and currently find themselves in a state of economic prosperity. However, despite being one of the richest countries in the world and recently entering upon a path to end its oil dependency, the industries associated with crude oil remain a key pillar of the Emirati economy. The objective of this paper is to examine whether the current government's diversification strategy, which aims to foster industries not built upon the drilling or processing of oil, has been successful. A particularly interesting aspect of this issue is the contrast between the country's two largest emirates, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, whose specific socioeconomic indicators are compared within. The results of this analysis demonstrate that the structural foci of the two economies are markedly different. Whilst drilling and construction remain the focal points of Abu Dhabi's economy, the economy of Dubai has transitioned into the sphere of trade and transportation. Görcs, Jan ; Hána, David (advisor) ; Pulec, Jan (referee)
Discussion of socio-geographic aspects of renewable energy sources in Czechia Abstract Modern society is completely dependent on electricity supplies in every aspect of life and the economy. The task of every developed country is protection and ensuring sufficient energy in the required quality. Otherwise, the lack or interruption of supply may paralyze the country's life and economy. The current energy problem lies on the fact that it is based on non-renewable energy sources with limited quantity. In addition, they have a negative impact on the environment. Renewable energy sources also provide limited solutions to the situation. This bachelor's thesis therefore analyses the assumptions, possibilities and potential of the development of renewable sources in Czech electricity, in relation to the energy position, environment, electricity, society and economy. The aim of the thesis is critical evaluation of the pros and cons of the implementation of alternative energy sources in the energy mix. Key words: renewable energy sources, alternative sources of energy, energy mix, solar energy, wind energy, water energy

Title: The Role of Islam in Life of Active Muslim Athletes in Czechia Objectives: The analysis of the relationship of Islam and sport is the main objective of this thesis. Sporting Muslims living in Czechia and active Muslim athletes are chosen as target group for our research. This thesis focuses on level of identification with Islam as their faith. It also focuses on their attitude to sport. It further deals with Muslim customs in terms of its effects on athletes' life. The proper example is the Ramadan fasting. Methods: We chose the semistructured interview as the method to collect data. We took seven interviews with Muslim athletes (four professional and three amateur athletes). We chose the method of open coding as the suitable method for analysing data. Results: We found out that the relationship of Muslim athletes (our respondents) with their faith can be characterized as folk Islam or folk religiosity. Respondents also consider sport as a fully satisfying part of their life, but it is not linked with their faith. However other Muslim practices (represented mainly by Ramadan fasting) do not show as problematic or incompatible with ordinary athletes' life. Key words: Islam, sport, Muslim athletes, Czechia
