Multiple sequence alignment using genetic algorithms
Pátek, Zdeněk ; Mráz, František (advisor) ; Pešková, Klára (referee)
Title: Multiple sequence alignment using genetic algorithms Author: Zdeněk Pátek Department: Department of Software and Computer Science Education Supervisor: RNDr. František Mráz, CSc. Abstract: The thesis adresses the problem of multiple sequence alignment (MSA). It contains the specication of the proposed method MSAMS that allows to find motifs in biological sequences, to split sequences to blocks using the motifs, to solve MSA on the blocks and nally to assemble the global alignment from the aligned blocks and motifs. Motif search and MSA are both solved using genetic algorithms. The thesis describes the implementation of the method, conguration of its settings, benchmarking on the BAliBASE database and comparison to the ClustalW program. Experimental results showed that MSAMS can discover better alignments than ClustalW. Keywords: multiple sequence alignment, motif nding, genetic algorithms, ClustalW
Possible improvements of global optimization methods inspired by nature
Pátek, Zdeněk ; Bálek, Martin (referee) ; Rytíř, Pavel (advisor)
This study focuses on the global optimization of functions of real variables using methods inspired by nature. It contains a description of selected global optimization techniques (Differential Evolution, Self-Organizing Migrating Algorithm, Steady-State Evolutionary Algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization, Gregarious Particle Swarm Optimizer a Hybrid Particle Swarm with Differential Evolution Operator). I have found four improvements of these techniques, discovered their suitable parameter configurations and compared them on chosen trial functions. Experimental results proved that described improvements can increase performance of the optimization techniques inspired by nature.
Modern Aerodynamic Optimization Methods Application to Transonic Wing Design with Implemented Basic Structural Constraints
Doupník, Petr ; Salga, Jaroslav (referee) ; Pátek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Antonín (advisor)
The thesis gives overview of complex aerodynamic optimization approach applied to business-jet aircraft wing design. Response surface method (RSM) potential was explored particularly. The efficiency of RSM approach for CFD based aerodynamic optimization was demonstrated. Basic structural requirements were successfully integrated to optimization – real multidisciplinary problem was solved. Some methods for evaluation of forces distribution along wingspan were explored. Thesis was solving within the frame of 6th EU FP integrated project CESAR.
The Economic potential of immovable industrial heritage and its utilization
Záruba, Jakub ; Lindner, Milan (advisor) ; Pátek, Zdeněk (referee)
The focus of this bachelor thesis is on the current topic of the utilization of immovable industrial monuments in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work is a detailed analysis and evaluation of the condition and the utilization of these industrial monuments in the Czech Republic. The foundation of this work is a theoretical definition, categorization and separation of industrial buildings. Furthermore the exploration of history, present status and extent of the industrial heritage in the Czech Republic as well as its cultural heritage protection. Eventually the research will present the economic potential and possibilities of new utilization of these industrial monuments in general and also in detail using specific examples. An integral part of this research will be application of this theme on specific immovable industrial monument. This will be completed with regards to assessment of its condition and utilization of all obtained findings from already revitalized industrial buildings.
Prague homesteads. Possibilities of Renovation and Utilization
Baštová, Lucie ; Kouba, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Pátek, Zdeněk (referee)
Prague homesteads (agricultural or farm buildings, later summer houses and mansions, manufactories or villas) have become a part of the City of Prague during the urban development, or have been destroyed. Nowadays, still preserved homesteads are significant historical monuments, but also landmarks of the urban landscape and the important source of local identity, and therefore worthy of conservation. Nevertheless, it is crucial to find their modern utilization and to maintain their cultural-historical values. The aim of this master's thesis is to sum up possibilities of renovation and utilization of poorly maintained Prague homesteads and to formulate recommendations to owners, investors and other people participating in animation process of these buildings based on the analysis of examples of still renovated Prague homesteads.
World heritages in the Czech republic and their potential for tourism development
Pátek, Zdeněk ; Patočka, Jiří (advisor) ; Křížová, Květa (referee)
This thesis deals with the potential of the Czech Republic selected sites inscribed on the World Heritage List. The aim of this work is to confirm the hypothesis that inclusion of the Czech immovable cultural monuments on World Heritage List has an impact on the number of domestic and foreign visitors. In this regard, we will try to outline the positive and negative aspects arising from the inscription of monuments on the World Heritage List. Content of work is the analysis of selected factors that may affect attendance at selected sites. Using sociological research oriented to visitors of selected World Heritage Sites will focus on the perception of visitors of World Heritage Sites, because they are the ones who make the demand for tourism services. In conclusion, the results of research evaluate and propose possible solutions to more closely involved World Heritage Site in the development of tourism in the region.
The analysis of regulatory functions Czech telecommunication office
Pátek, Zdeněk ; Zeman, Karel (advisor) ; Zemplinerová, Alena (referee)
The thesis will focus on the question what the measure and the form of regulation should be. This issue will be applied to the case of the Czech telecommunication office. In the theoretical part, the definition of regulation, as well as its impact will be defined. This section will reflect the opinions of experts from different economic schools on regulation, as well as the impact of selected regulatory interventions throughout the history. The practical part will discuss the analysis of the Czech telecommunication office from the point of view of historical evolution, and in particular the regulattion authority. In addition, the regulation mechanism shall be discussed alongside the influence of European regulation authorities that regulate the Czech telecommunication market. The thesis will also deal with the jurisdiction of the office and its contributions, as well as its negative impact on the economic activity in the private sector. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the role of regulation in the development of selected spheres of action of the Czech telecommunication office. The office will be analysed both with an emphasis on the changes in the role of regulation, as well as the efficiency of its interference in the market. Special care will be taken to ensure accuracy in the use of the designated means for regulation and whether relevant market really failed whilst conducting the analysis.
