Author: Lucie Hladká Institution: Charles University in Prague Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové Department of Social Medicine, Department of Nursing Title: How seniors assess the quality of life in senior homes Supervisor: prof. PhDr. Jiří Mareš, CSc. Number of pages: 104 Number of attachements: 4 Year of defense: 2019 Keywords: quality of life, seniors, the old, senior homes The bachelor thesis deals with the description and analysis of the quality of life of seniors who permanently live in a retirement home. The thesis consists of two main parts- theoretical-review and empirical. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of geriatric age and describes the age-related changes, with which this developmental phase is related to. It also describes dynamical alterations in human needs hierarchy during aging, which are inherently related to changes in old age. It shows the possibilities of care for seniors and role of social institutions in the past and present. In general, the theoretical part characterizes the notion: "well-being" and focuses primarily on the quality of life of seniors. The empirical part has a form of mixed design, which took place in the retirement home in town of Hořice. The quantitative part, consisted of questionnaire survey in which the shorted version of the...
Monetary Policy Transmission - Bank Lending Channel and Banking Market Structure. The Case of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
Jvaridze, Tinatin ; Mareš, Jan (advisor) ; Komárek, Luboš (referee)
In the thesis, we examine the bank lending channel and the effect of banking market structure on the transmission of monetary policy in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. We employ bank-level data for the period of 2011-2017 to detect if banks with different characteristics react differently to monetary policy shocks. Banking market structure is proxied by three measures-CR5, HHI, and Lerner Index. We estimate two types of models: dynamic (with system GMM) and static (with FE) models. We also consider the effect of dollarization on bank loan supply as well as on monetary policy. We do not find consistent evidence that banks react differently to monetary policy shocks depending on bank characteristics (size, capitalization, and liquidity). Hence the existence of the lending channel is not conclusive. Nevertheless, the results show that monetary policy is less effective in more concentrated markets. This finding is robust in all specifications with both types of models. In this sense, competition is not significant. The results also suggest that dollarization weakens the effect of domestic monetary policy. Determination of the vaporization plane depth in sandstones and other porous materials: uranine-coated needles
Mareš, Jakub ; Weiss, Tomáš (advisor) ; Válek, Jan (referee)
Abstact The vaporization plane in porous materials separates the capillary zone, the area where water moves in liquid state, from the dry surface layer where water moves in the form of vapor. The depth of the vaporization plane and its geometry is essential for a large number of physical, chemical and biological processes in porous materials that can, for example, cause material degradation and decay. Mostly, the vaporization plane is not measured directly, but water content or suction pressure measurements are used instead, which are, however, not suitable for the plane's detection. Therefore, there was a need for a method that would be able to determine the depth of the vaporization plane in holes of small diameter (<1 cm). To fulfill this aim, I used a needle onto which I applied glue and uranine. Upon insertion, uranine on the needle dissolves in the capillary zone and changes its color from red to green, while remaining red in the dry zone. The boundary between the red and green parts thus accurately displays the vaporization plane. With this newly developed method, I subsequently measured the depth of the vaporization plane on natural outcrops as well as on buildings, where I tried to describe the vaporization plane's behavior.

Experimental Study of Mechanisms of Neurodegeneration in Different Conditions
Purkartová, Zdeňka ; Vožeh, František (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (referee) ; Mareš, Jan (referee)
EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF MECHANISMS OF NEURODEGENERATION IN DIFFERENT CONDITIONS - SUMMARY MUDr. Zdeňka Purkartová The cerebellum is an important structure involved in motor coordination and many other functions including cognitive and emotional processes. Severe cerebellar diseases include a wide group of cerebellar hereditary degenerations with different types of heredity, different pathogenesis and diverse phenotypic manifestation. Many types of mouse models can be used to investigate these diseases and their therapy. These mice carry spontaneous mutations or are genetically modified. The aim of this work was to analyse the dynamics of morphological changes of cerebellar degeneration in Lurcher mice using fluorescent double staining. We also performed transplantation of embryonic cerebellar tissue suspension in adult Lurcher B6CBA mice, B6.BR mice and wild-type mice of both strains with two-month survival after surgery and transplantation of identical suspension in adult Lurcher B6CBA mice and C3H mice and wild- type mice of both these strains with six-month survival after surgery. We have confirmed these main characteristics of the degenerating Purkinje cells in Lurcher mutants: the disrupted continuity of the Purkinje cell layer, the presence of dark spots in the cell nuclei, the fragmentation of nuclei...
Stravitelnost krmiv pro kapra obecného
MAREŠ, Josef
This bachelor thesis evaluates the composition and apparent digestibility of various types of fish feed and various ingredients applicable to the feeding of common carp. This bachelor thesis also evaluates the suitability of individual components based on the digestibility of individual nutrients. The results show that the right combination of fish feed improves efficiency, reduces feed consumption and increases growth. Last but not least, the negative impact of feeding on the quality of the aquatic environment should be reduced. This bachelor thesis summarizes existing digestibility values of individual feed ingredients for common carp and then its own experiment, which was very time- consuming. Some already known values have been confirmed and some new information about the content of individual components of feed and their subsequent use has been found. The results for wheat and maize were compared with results of other authors. Triticale, daphnia and chironomidae larvae were used for the first time, so the values could not be compared, nevertheless it could be used as a basic information for further research in this area. The average content of individual cereal parameters were: 16% protein content and 64% digestibility, 2% fat content and 70% digestibility, 74% BNLV content and 74% digestibility. Fiber content 5% and ash content 2% with very low digestibility. Phosphorus content 0.6% and digestibility 30%. Average content of individual parameters for natural foods was: protein content 55% and digestibility 86%, fat content 5% and digestibility 74%, BNLV 20% and digestibility 41 %, fiber content 7% and digestibility 8%, ash content 14% and digestibility 30%, phosphorus content 1.2% and 74% digestibility. The resulting element was to determine the most suitable feed for pond aquaculture. According to the available results, wheat combined with natural food is the best option. Wheat is very energy rich, but has a low protein content. Conversely, natural food is energy rich in easily usable protein. The optimal ratio of natural food to wheat was 0.25:2. With this ratio we can meet the ideal nutritional requirements of common carp (31% digestible protein, 0.6-0.7 % phosphorus, 3200 kcal?kg-1 digestible energy). With the right feed, we are able to reduce the negative impact on water quality and this is one of the main goals for the future.
Chování vodních organismů a kontaminace vodních toků? nechtěná léčba deprese a nespavosti u raků
MAREŠ, Josef
This bachelor thesis evaluates the possible effects of pharmaceutically active compounds on non-target fresh water organisms and the risks connected with them. As model organism was used parthenogenetically reproducing non-native marbled crayfish, which were exposed to a mix of five commonly used drugs and one illicit drug - tramadol, citalopram, sertraline, venlafaxine, oxazepam and methamphetamine. The concentration was 1 microgram.l-1 for each of the tested compounds. The main part of the experiment was based on monitoring the behaviour of the exposed and control group of crayfish in arenas with or without shelter. Prior experiment crayfish were exposed for three-weeks to the mixture of compounds mentioned above. The results were analysed in the programme EthoVisionXT and later also statistically evaluated. In the system with available shelters the observed parameters (distance moved and activity) showed significant differences, where the exposed group walked significantly larger distances and was considerably more active than the control group. Exposed group also spent significantly more time outside the shelter. The results in the system without shelter were almost the opposite. The distance moved, velocity and activity were significantly different. The exposed crayfish showed considerably lower activity, velocity and moved shorter distances. The results of this experiment prove that the mixture of monitored compounds can have a significant impact on the behaviour of non-target fresh water organisms. The compounds had a softening effect and can affect sensory receptors of the exposed crayfish, which can have a significant impact on the populations in open waters.

The aim of the methodology is to provide managers and users of small water reservoirs Landštejn type with methodological tools for optimization of the water quality monitoring based on the current level of knowledge and research. Furthermore, provides a design of a methodology for fish community monitoring and optimization of treatments to reduce unwanted fish species and strengthen the status of suitable fish species with the aim of achieving the topdown effect and maintaining or improving water quality in these water reservoirs. The presented methodology summarizes the findings obtained during the monitoring and evaluation of selected parameters of water quality, planktonic and fish communities in water supply reservoirs Landštejn in recent years. It also contains an evaluation of applied treatments, focused mainly on fish stock. Unwanted fish species were caught and the predatory fish were stocked with the aim of optimizing the fish community composition and positively influencing the quality of the water in the reservoirs. The methodology contains recommendations for monitoring of the water quality in the reservoir, including monitoring of planktonic communities, monitoring of fish and recommended manipulation with fish stock. The methodology provides guidance and information for optimization of monitoring and treatments for small water supply reservoirs of the Landštejn type.
