Obtaining informed consents during admission of patients in the intensive care unit
Kesmanová, Veronika ; Kulířová, Veronika (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
The process of acquiring informed consents from patients belongs to one of the everyday activities of hospital personnel. The duty of submitting informed consent forms to patients is mostly in competence of the doctors. Nurses, however, are present during the entirety of patients' medical care and should be acquainted with all aspects of the informed consent. The process of acquiring the informed consents from patients admitted to intensive care unit (hereinafter ICU) is connected with a multitude of difficulties. The method of statistical analysis of data acquired by the questionnaire construction method was used for this quantitative research. 99 respondents participated in the questionnaire construction. The research took place within one hospital at chosen ICUs. The main goal of this thesis is to evaluate the process of acquiring informed consents from patients from the point of view of nurses and to identify the main issues connected with signing of informed consents. The results of the research show that patients are adequately informed by their physicians before signing the informed consents. Poor medical condition of patients admitted to ICUs may be seen as one of the main issues during the signing of informed consents. The research further shows that 50% of patients don't read the text of...
Education of patients with homocystinuria
Paterová, Terezie ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Kulířová, Veronika (referee)
My bachelor thesis deals with the issue of education of patients and parents of underage patients with homocystinuria. It focuses on the nursing role of a nurse in a metabolic ambulance, where these patients are dispensarized. The theoretical part describes inherited metabolic disorders (IMD), especially homocystinuria, and characterizes general education as well as education aimed at patients with homocystinuria. The practical part was realized by questionnaire survey of patients and parents (legal representatives) of minors by anonymous non-standardized questionnaire of my own composition. The criterion for addressing and selecting respondents was the confirmed diagnosis of homocystinuria. Due to the small incidence (1:83 000) of this disease in the Czech Republic (CR), there were twenty respondents. The aim of the research was to find out if these patients are sufficiently educated and if the patients prefer other forms of education in this area than they have been used to date. The individual results of research were analyzed and presented in the form of graphs and tables. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that education is realized in a comprehensible form, and patients consider education as an important part of the treatment. Patients were satisfied with the form, course and...

Drbohlavová, Šárka ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
Strokes are one of the most serious diseases that often lead to permanent disability and in some cases even to death. Currently, widely available treatment by intravenous thrombolysis is recommended. The objectives of this diploma thesis are to analyse complications that may arise for patients with iCMP treated by intravenous system thrombolysis, to define the role of a nurse in ICU in terms of taking care of this group of patients, and to map all the factors influencing the result of the treatment. In order to obtain the data necessary, combined research method has been applied. The quantitative part was retrospectively evaluated based on SITS Registry data. The research part comprised of patients, to whom IVT was applied between January 2014 and December 2015. The subjects of the analysis were treatment complications, gender of patients treated by IVT, risk factors present, time data, and heaviness of the deficit before the treatment and after. Furthermore, we observed where is the patient released to after IVT and how many patients are able to stay in home environments three months after the treatment. Qualitative part of the investigation was evaluated based on half-structured interviews with the nurses working in ICUs for highly specialized care for patients with stroke. We observed their...

The main aim of my bachelor thesis is to find out how well women are informed about the issue of artificial termination of pregnancy. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, I briefly defined the term "abortion", described an evolution of abortion in the context of history in general and in the Czech Republic in particular. I also presented basic views on abortion, abortion methods, described post-abortive syndrome, and recommended fundamental steps that a woman should follow after termination of pregnancy. I gained this information by studying professional literature. In the practical part, I listed six selected partial goals and formulated questions related to them, which are stated in evaluation questionnaire. Then I evaluated the research within the framework of these partial goals on the basis of answers which I had received. As a method of collecting data for the practical part of the bachelor thesis, I used an internet questionnaire survey. I processed the data using tables and charts. The research results show that most women have some knowledge about the problem of abortion, for example, most women know what ways to perform an abortion exist, and they are also well aware of the risks and complications that may arise alongside this procedure....

Červinková, Barbora ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
Prevention of breast cancer using the form of mammographic screening is one of the most important factors involved in early diagnosis and reduction of mortality with this type of cancer, which is the most frequently occurring cancer in women in the Czech Republic. The aim of the study was to investigate the previous use of screening and preventative measures by women who subsequently were diagnosed by breast cancer. Comparison of knowledge of nurses and practrical nurses about the prevention and treatment of decubitus
Krajč, Lukáš ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
For my bachelor thesis I chose the area of decubitus.Dekubitus is a serious complicationthat affects all age groups of patients and reduces their quality of life. Occurrence of decubitus is one of the basic indicators of quality of treatment and nursing care and is carefully monitored. Nevertheless, despite the quality and professional care of nursing staff, they arise, as there are factors that can not affect the occurrence of pressure decay. At the stage when there is alreadya decubitus, treatment is coming. Just as today it is no longer possible to treat the decubitus as a separate problem, so its treatment must be conceived in a comprehensiveway. There are a large amount of moneyspent on prevention and treatment of bed sores. The most effective money spent is on prevention that deliberately protects patients from harming their health. In the theoretical part I open the issue of decubitus. In particular, I focus on diagnostics, treatment and prevention. The basis for the work was based on the research created in the National Medical Library. Also included was the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP). In my work I use the ISO 690 citation standard. Methodology: I have chosen a quantitative form of research for the bachelor thesis. Quantitative data collection using a structured...
Nursing care of child with juvenilie idiopathic arthritis
Bobitko, Julia ; Lukášová Jeřábková, Lenka (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is one of the most common rheumatic diseases that affects children less than 16 years of age. The illness is considered irrecoverable because of its unclear aetiology. My work is focused on nursing care of a child with juvenile idiopathic arthritis due to the very low awarness of this disease. The main objective was to describe the nursing care of a child with a given disease and to increase awareness of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Another objective was to create information material for the public about the illness. I choose a case study method to meet these goals. I described the nursing process of the patient with the disease in the practical part of the bachelor thesis, supplemented by Mary Henderson model. Information was drew mainly from medical records, interviews with parents, medical staff, and by providing nursing care to the chosen patient. The specifics of nursing care of a child with juvenile idiopathic arthritis were described on the basis of the information and knowledge gained during the hospitalization of the patient. These informations were used also for creation the information material for the general public. keywords: juvenile idiopathic arthritis, nursing care, rheumatology, paediatrics nursing, arthritis
