Medial Portrayl of Anezka Hodinova Spurna

The presented diploma thesis deals with Anežka Hodinová - Spurná 's media image (1895 - 1963) in the period during WWII and after WWII. The final reference is dated after the year 1989. The aim of this thesis is found how the politician, the MP of the National Assembly and the long-time member of the Communistic Party was presented to the public in representative periodicals. The data for the analysis were gained by studying her personal fund in the National Archive in Prague which contains twenty-eight cardboards and it has not been arranged so far. Then it was used materials from the Archive of the Law-Enforcement Agencies and also materials of Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic which were made accessible to the public. The gained relevant data were examined by the help of the content-qualitative analysis. The basic research quastion is how Hodinová - Spurná was presented to the public until 1963 and after 1989. The content of this thesis is to introduce briefly Hodinová - Spurná 's life and work and deal with her media image to the general public in time-restricted periods.
Press in region of Cernokostelecko in the period of the first republic with a focus on newspaper Pruboj

The work tries to contribute to the theme of the First Republic regional press; with greater emphasis on printing in the region Cernokostelecka and especially focusing on Pruboj weekly (1929-1939). In the first part is defined Cernokostelecko, both in terms of territorial, demographic and historical. The second part deals with the development of the regional press and related legislation and censorship issues, the third is an overview of the press in the area, pointing to regional printers, publishers and personalities. The main part of the thesis is the newspaper Pruboj (complete); the periodical is characterized by aspect content, authorship, graphic or language; also censorship cases are described. In this part is also the first and complete biography of Frantisek Simáček, editor of Pruboj.
Periodical press in Region of Pardubice during the period of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia

This thesis deals with the topic of periodical press in the region of Pardubice during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. First of all, the thesis introduces the historical context, such as the formation of the Protectorate and other affairs connected with the occupation of the Czech lands by the Nazi Germany. The next part focuses on the system of press control in this era, shedding light on the existence of the legal and illegal press as well. The third part of the thesis is dedicated to the city of Pardubice, particularly to the occupation in this area, the Heydrich Terror and the Silver A resistance activities. The fourth part offers an overview of the newspapers which were published in the region during the occupation, characterizing them and outlining their history. The last chapter provides an insight into the content of the regional press, exploring its subordination to the regime. It analyzes the portrayal of six notable events in two regional newspapers, Východočeský kraj and regional page of Večerní České slovo. These events are the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the celebration of 600th anniversary of Pardubice, the campaign Victoria, the Heydrich Terror, the air strikes on Pardubice by the Allies, and the end of the war.
Sequel novel in selected volumes of two magazines for women published in the first Czechoslovak Republic - List paní a dívek and Hvězda československých paní a dívek

The diploma thesis "Sequel novel in selected volumes of two magazines for women published in the first Czechoslovak Republic - List paní a dívek and Hvězda československých paní a dívek" deals with sequel novels, which were published in favorite women's magazines. These novels belongs to genre "červená knihovna" and genre of teen female novels. Term "červená knihovna" (similar to harlequin) is typical for Czech literary background. Theoretical part consists historical context of sequel novel and his development and also history of popular women's literature. This part also refers to fundamental elements of sequel novels. Mainly it is stereotypization of main protagonist, patterns and plot. The end of the sequel novel for women is traditionally closed with happy ending. The practical part is focused on analyzed novels in two magazines - List paní a dívek and Hvězda československých paní a dívek. At first there are described basic data about magazines, their establishments and summary of content they consisted. The arrival of Reinhard Heydrich in the Protectorate - Image in the Czech Periodical Press from September to December 1941

This bachelor thesis focuses on events in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia from September to December 1941 and their image in the selected Czech periodical press. During September 1941, there was an intensified wave of resistance, which was culminated by a successful proclamation of the London radio broadcasting to boycott the Protectorate press by the Czech society. At the end of September 1941, it was suddenly announced that the Protector Konstantin von Neurath is ill. His role in the Protectorate should be then filled in by Reinhard Heydrich as a deputy Protector. He is the person associated with the following period, when serious reprisals against the Czech society took place. In addition to the declaration of martial law, the most important incidents where an arrest of the Prime Minister of the Protectorate Alois Eliáš, a death of the prominent activist journalist Karel Lažnovský and worsening of anti-Jewish measures, including the start of the actual realization of the Final Solution of the Jewish Question. The thesis analyses a way of presentation of the events of the last third of 1941 in the selected Czech official press, which was used as a propaganda and manipulation instrument of the occupation power, and a way of presentation in the selected illegal and exile Czech periodicals.
The Czechoslovak v zahraničí: analýza českého exilového týdeníku z let 1951-1967

The main aim of this study was to analyze the exile weekly "Czechoslovak abroad" that was beeing published in London by Czechoslovak activist and publicist Josef Josten in a period of 1951 - 1967. This thesis was using the method of quantitative content analysis to describe themes portrayed in this weekly newspaper. The analysis was based on 1702 articles that derived from 128 randomly selected editions. It was expected that the topics of Czechoslovakia and the Czechoslovak exile would be prevalent in the weekly therefore following hypothesis were formed: H1: In "The Czechoslovak abroad" weekly the topics related to Czechoslovakia will dominate over topics from the international scene. H2: In "The Czechoslovak abroad" weekly the topics related to czechoslovak exile will dominate over topics from the international scene H3: In "The Czechoslovak abroad" weekly the subjects of Czechoslovakia and czechoslovak exile will be equally represented. The analysis showed that the issue of Czechoslovakia was by far the most prominent topic of the weekly "Czechoslovak abroad". Of all the articles subjected to analysis 40 % of them were related to the Czechoslovakia. The topic of Czech exile filled 25% of all articles. Nuremberg trial and judicial proceedings with protectorate government in Czech press

In my bachelor thesis I deal with an analysis of the Nuremberg trial and judicial proceedings with protectorate government in the Czech press from October 1945 until October 1946. First I try to explain and describe the way to the Nuremberg trial and approximate the accused ones using professional literature. I did the same with the judicial proceedings with protectorate government. In this bachelor thesis I describe the most important acts for a rise of a tribunal in Nuremberg. I derive a description of a statute of a court and points of indictment from the professional literature. The process is described in articles from a period printing and the information is folded by the professional literature. I choose the same procedure and style in the second part of my bachelor thesis with the process with the protectorate government. The aim of my thesis is to analyze articles in the periodic press - Rudé Právo, Svobodné slovo, Lidová demokracie, Právo lidu, to compare a prejudice, style and a form of informing of an individual press
Communist Propaganda in the Children Magazine Ohníček

The bachelor thesis The Communist propaganda in the children's magazine Ohníček focuses on finding propagandistic themes in Ohníček from 1950 to 1953. In the work, articles and pictures with propagandistic subtext are explored with the help of qualitative content analysis and they are included in the thematic categories. In addition to a qualitative content analysis, the work also contains a frequency analysis that represents the most frequently used topics. In the theoretical part, thanks to contemporary literature dealing with this period, the historical context and the most important events of these years are presented. Here are also presented the most important personalities of both Czechoslovak and Soviet politics. In a separate chapter there is a brief history of the magazine Ohníček. The next chapter of this thesis explains the concept of propaganda and its tools and describes the largest propagandistic campaigns taking place in the Czechoslovakia. The conclusion of the thesis is an evaluation of the found propaganda themes. The main objective is to point out how the Communist regime manipulated children's readers and how the information printed in the Ohníček magazine differs with contemporary historical literature.
Some propaganda campaigns in the 50s of the 20th century in the regional press

This thesis gives describes the propaganda's campaign of Číhošť's miracle, Jan Buchal, "fight with potato beetle" and of the Babice's case, in the regional press in the 50s of the 20th century. At first, the thesis describes the historical contexts of this era, particularly changes in policy after the onset of Communist Party after February 1948. There is also introduced the situation in Czechoslovak media in 1950. For this thesis is important the capter about preparing process before propaganda's campaign - there is the demonstration of "campaign with Milada Horáková". Then, from third capture, there is the analysis of the nationwide and regional press. Every propaganda is being explored in local press - Jiskra, Pravda or Nová svoboda. Then is being explored in local press in diffrent part of the Czechoslovakia - Průboj and as well in the nationwide press - Rudé právo. The analysis of the articles provides an overview of the propaganda in the regional press in the 50s. Beside the analysis of the articles and newspaper, this thesis is about comparison between individual analysis. There is the comparasion between diffrent forms of regional press and then regional press beetween nationwide press. In the end of this thesis is comparison between individual propaganda's campaign, too.
