Written Texts of Czech Deaf

The topic of the dissertation is the communication of the deaf in written Czech. The theoretical part presents the studies of written Czech for the deaf which have been carried out in the Czech Republic so far, considers the causes of difficulties the deaf encounter when making Czech written texts, and deals with the position of written Czech in the education of the deaf. The next part is devoted to the Czech sign language, the characteristics of its specifics and its role in the communication and education of deaf pupils, especially in connection with the currently valid legislation. Attention is also focused on the components and construction of narrative texts and on the acquisition of narrative competencies in spoken and sign languages. The research part is focused on the qualitative analysis of narrative texts in Czech, the authors of which are deaf pupils of two primary schools for the hearing impaired aged 14 to 16, and which were created on the basis of a picture story. As part of the analysis of written narratives, attention is focused on the specific features which make the written texts of the deaf different from the texts written by hearing Czechs. Process of reading for pupils with dyslexia at the 2nd level of primary school

The reading process is a demanding cognitive process. With it, we achieve various levels of reading literacy. Pupils with dyslexia face not only problems mastering the reading technique, but also comprehension of the text. The main goal of the diploma thesis is to assess and find out how the learning process of pupils with dyslexia at the second stage of primary school takes place with regard to the reading process, which is weakened in these pupils. The partial goal of the diploma thesis is to find out which methods are used by teachers when working with pupils with dyslexia. The diploma thesis is processed as a qualitative research investigation using the technique of observation of a selected group in the educational process (second grade students), analysis of student documentation and interviews with students, their parents and teachers according to a pre-prepared scenario. The diploma thesis deals with the influence of the use of intervention aids on the educational process of pupils with dyslexia at the second stage of primary school and the suitability of individual aids for intervention in specific cases.
Possibilities of prevention of hearing disorders and defects

The topic of the diploma thesis is Possibilities of prevention of hearing disorders and defects. The work is focused on describing the current situation in the prevention of hearing disorders and defects. The theoretical part of the work consists of the first four chapters. The first chapter deals with hearing disorders and defects, their classification, diagnosis and etiology. The second chapter focuses on the consequences of hearing impairments and compensatory aids. The third chapter deals with the prevention of hearing disorders and defects, noise and its negative effects on hearing perception, and hearing protection. The fourth chapter presents foreign preventive programs and campaigns, aimed at preventing the occurrence of hearing disorders and defects caused by noise. The empirical part of the work consists of the fifth chapter. The aim of the research is to describe the current situation in the field of prevention of hearing disorders and defects. Inclusive education of a pupil with a cochlear implant

The bachelor thesis is focused on the inclusive education of pupils with hearing impairment. In the theoretical parts there is a problem with hearing impairment, cochlear implantation and the educational process of a pupil with a cochlear implant. It acquaints us with diagnostics and classification of hearing impairment. Other advantages about the advantages and disadvantages of the cochlear implant and the possibility of communication of people with hearing impairment. It also includes an introduction to the concept of inclusion. In the practical part, the work is believed to be a pupil with a cochlear implant included in a regular primary school. It was processed on the basis of interviews and participatory observation. Look for what you want, whether you have ink ribbon and how it is taught by educators and the student's parents.
Siblings of people with an impairment and his position in family

This thesis discusses the topic of siblings of individuals with disabilities and their position in the family. The theoretical part aims to define family and its functions, specifics of a parent-child relationship, different kinds of nurturing of a child and also discusses the role of an intact sibling in the family with a child with disability. The second part of the theoretical chapter talks about the place of the child with special needs in the family and in the educational environment, presents different attitudes towards inclusive education, defines the disabilities that are relevant for our further research and presents specifics of living with a child with disability from the point of view of the intact sibling. The main aim of the research was to find out how the siblings themselves reflect on the impact of living with a child with disability on their own development and their future. This thesis was based on literature analysis and qualitative research with elements of grounded theory. Deaf culture focused on visiting castles in the Czech Republic

This Bachelor thesis is focused Deaf culture in the Czech Republic. The purpose of this paper is examining attitude of the Deaf community towards culture, especially cultural landsites. Secondly, it is supposed to inform about the insufficient translating capacities available considering the access barier of such cultural events. Theoretical part describes ear anatomy, diagnostics, hearing aids and individual problems and needs of respective handicapped people. Second theoretical part is focused on Deaf cummunity and culture built around it. Emprirical part is based on survey conducted in the Deaf communities around the Czech Republic. This method shows how does this community evaluate the quality of cultural life (visiting castles and chateaus) and what could be done to enhance it.
The Phenomenon of Death and Mourning in the Context of Intellectual Disability: Grief Support Group Project

This doctoral dissertation's topic is mourning in people with intellectual disabilities who have lost a loved one. The research focuses mainly on the loss of parents, but also includes the loss of other people, such as grandparents. By loss we mean death, but the results of the work can also be used for losses of a different nature. The aim of this work is to understand grief in people with intellectual disabilities and to suggest appropriate ways to support their grieving process, with emphasis on grief support groups. As part of the research, we set up and implemented 2 support groups for grieving people with intellectual disabilities, each lasting at least 2 months and meeting once a week. At the very beginning of our research, we carried out one support group of the same length as a pilot study. The pilot study was first evaluated and the proposal of the support group according to the original foreign script was modified to better meet the needs of Czech citizens with intellectual disabilities. After the pilot study, we enriched the research with a questionnaire test of our own design, capturing a possible change in process of mourning in people involved in our support groups.
