The surveys, whose combined output is this survey report, covered the detection the extent of timber damage and traceological analysis of the original craftsman’s woodworking of selected elements of a dismantled polygonal barn, formerly belonging to house no. 97 in Čistá u Litomyšle. The impulse for the report was an order by the Wallachian Open Air Museum with headquarters in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, which included the request for the diagnosis of selected timber elements using NDT devices and their traceological analysis. The knowledge gained can contribute to a qualified assessment and a proposal of gentle transfer of this unique log building.

The methodology provides guidance procedures for monitoring and evaluation of automatically collected lighting parameters and biological indicators of internal environment depositories and expositions. There is specified a methodology, together with description of particular hardware components and software central point, which collects and evaluates the information acquired. The system, as a whole, is designed as a modular and open platform, which allows a wide variety of user modifications and customisation to almost any specific museum collection, repository or exhibition.

Methodology and tolls of protection and preservation of cultural heritage at risk from flooding

Konsorciální projekt "Metodika a nástroje ochrany a záchrany kulturního dědictví ohroženého povodněmi" byl řešen v letech 2011 až 2015 v rámci programu "Aplikovaného výzkumu a vývoje národní kulturní identity (NAKI)" podporovaného Ministerstvem kultury ČR. Projekt byl zaměřen na zvýšení ochrany objektů kulturního dědictví před povodněmi vytvářením nových nástrojů (metodik, softwarových aplikací, specializovaných map), které budou respektovat jednotlivá specifika těchto objektů při odhadu rizika poškození, plánování a tvorbě PPO i řešení popovodňových stavů a následných sanačních prací. Příspěvek prezentuje některé z dosažených výsledků projektu - metodiku "Posouzení zranitelnosti a prevence poškození kulturního dědictví povodněmi", metodiku ochrany kulturního dědictví a území s kulturně historickými hodnotami před povodněmi, softwarovou aplikaci "Adresný katalog ohrožení památek povodněmi" a metodiku pro tvorbu krizových plánů v případě živelných katastrof.
Desing and production of specialized lime binders for restoration of monuments using historical technologies

The methodological guideline supports the use of traditional lime materials for repair of historical buildings. It describes the main steps to be carried out when it is required to use a traditional lime mortar. The guideline provides an overview of the circumstances for using traditional technologies which are applied in the design and selection of lime binder and its treatment. It specifies essential procedures and principles that determine traditional production and processing of lime and recommends specific procedures for the lime processing and mortar production. The guideline is intended for architects, building engineers, cultural heritage conservators, conservation scientists, technologists, restorers and practitioners.

Vulnerability assesment and preventive measures of cultural heritage against flooding

One of the preconditions for successful planning is to estimate the risk of flood damage with regard to the construction resilience and constituent materials of historical objects. The output of this phase is software application and methodology for classifying the rate risk of specific constructions and materials and a reasonable estimate of risk diversification in different parts of the building. A special attention is paid to prevention and it tends to recommend suitable measures for different situations.

Research Report on Condition Assessment of the Holy Ghost Tower's Roof Frame in Telč

The subject of the research report was to assess the condition of and identify the range of wood-destroying damage to the roof frame of the Holy Ghost tower in Telč focused on locating critical points, classifying the degree of damage, determining the extent of concealed attack by the means of non-destructive devices, specifying whether wood is subject to a fungal attack (mycology) or insect attack (entomology), including the drawing of the results obtained in the drawing documentation of the existing condition of the roof frame. Based on the results, specific procedures for rehabilitation measures were designed and elements designed for structural rehabilitation were included in the drawing documentation. The report is based primarily on direct and mediated (endoscopic) visual observations supplemented by measurements using a resistance microdrilling device.
