Retrofit of heating system in a family house
Doležel, Pavel ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
The master’s thesis deals with the solid-fuel fired furnaces, complying with the new emission legislation, and their application in central heating. The introductory part of the thesis focuses on the theory of solid fuels combustion, pertinent legislation, and various designs of solid-fuel fired furnaces. The main part of the thesis deals with the design of a central heating system for a townhouse with a solid-fuel fired furnace as the primary heat source for central heating. A roof-mounted PV system was considered for solar-assisted domestic hot water heating. The energy performance of the house was evaluated with the use of the degree-day method and also with a detailed computer simulation in TRNSYS. As an appendix, the thesis includes the detailed engineering calculations and the engineering drawings and diagrams of the central heating system.

Bareš, Josef ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Pech, Ondřej (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on a ventilation and cooling design of a family house. Author’s idea was to make summary of theoretical information and project documentation for realization (installation) of the ventilation and cooling. Introduction of the house disposition, theoretical research of a current cooling and ventilation options in residential buildings are parts of this thesis. Next it contains thermal load calculation, two designs of a cooling and three designs of a forced ventilation, dimensioning of the pipelines and financial cost comparison of a purchase, assembly, working and service of a designed systems.
Energy retrofit of a stand-alone house
Stupka, Jaroslav ; Pech, Ondřej (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the master’s thesis was to design heating, ventilation and cooling systems and to evaluate possibility of using renewable sources in case of a reconstructed two-storey family house. Air to water heat pump and floor system were designed to ensure both heating and cooling supply in the building. A heat recovery ventilation system was proposed. Gains of electrical energy from photovoltaic array were calculated and then possibility of coverage the heat pump consumption was evaluated. The thesis contains required calculations including building heat losses, heat gains, air exchange rates and the dimensioning of all mentioned systems. Technical drawing is also comprised.
Design optimization of packed bed for thermal energy storage
Mercury emissions in energy industry
Hlavinková, Valérie ; Klimeš, Lubomír (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with mercury emissions in the energy industry. The main sources are described and the combustion behavior of mercury is characterized. Legislative measures limit mercury emissions, which pollute the environment and endanger human health. The application method makes it possible to reduce these emissions.
Mathematical optimization of a solar photovoltaic system for a single-family detached home
Bah, Sheikh Omar ; Mauder, Tomáš (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
This paper presents a mathematical sizing algorithms of a grid-connected photovoltaic-battery system for a residential house. The objective is to minimize the total storage capacity with cost of electricity. The proposed methodology is based on a Linear and Non-linear programming. We have presents results from a existing PV panel FS-4115-3 for the given climatic conditions and the electricity use profile. Measurements for whole household electricity consumption have been obtained over a period of two months. They were all obtained at one hour interval. The algorithm jointly optimizes the sizes of the photovoltaic and the battery systems by adjusting the battery charge and discharge cycles according to the availability of solar resource and a time-of-use tariff structure for electricity. The results show that jointly optimizing the sizing of battery and photovoltaic systems can significantly reduce electricity imports and the cost of electricity for the household.

Bah, Sheikh Omar ; Klimeš, Lubomír (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
This paper presents a mathematical sizing algorithms of a stand alone and grid-connected photovoltaic-battery system for a residential house. The objective is to minimize the total storage capacity with cost of electricity. The proposed methodology is based on a Linear and Non-linear programming involving a real data collected through one year with reference to Hradec Kralove meteorological data and typical load profile in Czech Republic. However, the optimal capacity of such photovoltaic battery varies strongly with the electricity consumption profile of the household, and is also affected by electricity and battery prices.
Potential of waste heat recuperation in a polyfunctional building
Nagorskyi, Bogdan ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Hejčík, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis deals with the possibilities of heat recovery in air ventilation systems. After a thorough analysis of the problems, the different ways of ventilation with the return of heat are compared even during simultaneous operation of the heating source. The research includes the selection of a suitable ventilation device with heat recovery based on a first investment and operating costs. Subsequently, the selected ventilation device is used for the HVAC project in the housing part of the multifunctional building. The project is created in BIM Revit software.
Optimization by means of metaheuristics in Python using the DEAP library
Kesler, René ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
{This thesis deals with optimization by means of metaheuristics, which are used for complicated engineering problems that cannot be solved by classical methods of mathematical programming. At the beginning, choosed metaheuristics are described: simulated annealing, particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithm; and then they are compared with use of test functions. These algorithms are implemented in Python programming language with use of package called DEAP, which is also described in this thesis. Algorithms are then applied for optimization of design parameters of the heat storage unit.
Analyze and economic time series forecasting by using selected statistical methods
