Distribution of predators, predation risk and antipredation strategies in waterfowl
Kreisinger, Jakub ; Albrecht, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bureš, Stanislav (referee) ; Tkadlec, Emil (referee)
Jakub Kreisinger - summary of the Ph.D. thesis: Predation is an important selective force affecting many evolutionary and ecological process. Anthropogenic landscape changes often alter these processes due to qualitative and quantitative changes in the predator comunity. This thesis contains four papers that are focused on various aspects of the nest predation, antipredation strategies and distribution of predators in the landscape modified by human activities. The first contribution "Nest protection in mallards (Anas plathyrhynchos): Untangling the role of crypsis and parental behaviour" (Kreisinger & Albrecht 2008) focus on the effect of antipredation strategies on the reproductive success in a ground nesting bird, mallard. Our data are consistent with the hypothesis that multiple antipredation strategies including nest site selection parental antipredation behavior and crypsis due to clutch concealment by the nest material during incubation recesses reduce sumultaniousely the risk of the clutch predation in birds. Contrary to some previous studies, the relative effects of crypsis and parental anti-predation behaviour on nest survival did not differ with respect to antipredation effect of the nest concealment by surrounding vegetation. The hypothesis that linear strips of shrubby vegetation and high grass...
Incubation strategies of selected duck species
Klvaňa, Petr ; Albrecht, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šálek, Miroslav (referee) ; Bureš, Stanislav (referee)
- 9 - Incubation strategies of selected duck species Summary of the PhD. thesis Avian incubation is an energetically demanding process. It holds true especially for uniparental incubators in which all incubation efforts are restricted to one individual. All ducks species breeding in northern hemisphere are representatives of birds with uniparental care. High demands of clutch formation and incubation make from ducks perfect model for testing factors influencing parent investment decisions. On the other hand parental investment to actual breeding attempt depends on many factors including breeding season duration, food supply, female's age, risk of predation or resilt of previous nesting attempt. So investigation of this complex problematic is extremely difficult. This thesis is focused on the most important phase of breeding cycle - incubation of clutch. Clutch incubation is associated with high energy cost to maintenance optimal temperature conditions for developing embryos. Morover incubation process can has large effect on female's body mass because of reduction of feeding time. Incubation strategy of success female include many partial tactic reducing predation risk of clutch and incubating female or eggs cooling. The incubation strategies of three ducks species were investigated in this thesis - Mallard...
Crisis Recovery Management
Bureš, Stanislav ; Linhart, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with crisis management. The theoretical part deals with the definition of basic concepts from several authors. The custom thesis analyzes the effectiveness of the deployment of the Army in the region. I used the measurement methods of historical comparisons or desired state by the CPM (Critical path method) in a particular situation. After the analysis follows the recommendations on how to get more efficient deployment of armed forces for unexpected events and to accelerate the return to economic stability.

Rostlinolékařské aspekty zvýšeného zastoupení kukuřice v pilotním zemědělském podniku
Bureš, Stanislav
The aim of the thesis was to describe and sum up the risk of an increased occurrence of maize in a sowing plan at BUREŠ farm in Švábenice in Vyškov area. The sum of effective temperature (SET) was calculated for the period between 1st January 2014 and the first appearance of western corn rootworm (Diabrotica virgifera virgifera). The temperature was measured in 0,3 m, 2 m and in the effective height using HOBO sensors. The data from a multi-purpose station from Teranos ALA network located at the farm and from the nearest meteorological station in Ivanovice na Hané was processed. Then the SET was calculated for lower threshold temperature development 5 and 10 degrees. The figures were interpreted and can be used to predict the occurrence of the corn rootworm in next years.
Spelling check in the czech texts
Bureš, Stanislav ; Pelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Fojtová, Lucie (advisor)
The Master‘s thesis deals with spell checking in the czech texts. It also contains an overview of the most used phonetic algorithms, including their properties and it deals with focus on metric methods, which are used to compare two words. The second part of this thesis deals with implementation of selected algorithms to the spell checker software and demonstration its spell - checking function in czech texts. The last part of this thesis deals about building context – sensitive algorithm, which is performs text correction.
