Jiroušek, Ondřej ; Vavřík, Daniel ; Jakubek, J. ; Dammer, J.
For the investigation of trabecular bone microstructure and its relation to bone failure a combined approach utilizing FE models of the microstructure and compressive tests of small cylindrical samples is presented.
Radiographic Observation of Strain Field and Consequent Damage Zone Evolution
Vavřík, Daniel ; Jakůbek, J. ; Jandejsek, Ivan
This work reports on results of the radiographic observation of 3D displacement/strain field and consequent damage evolution during loading of specimens with recognizable inner structure. In-plane deformations are evaluated from radiographs using the image correlation technique. The out-of plane displacement field is measured thanks to an accurate radiograph intensity to material thickness calibration.

Bryscejn, Jan ; Drdácký, Miloš ; Jakůbek, J. ; Valach, Jaroslav ; Vavřík, Daniel ; Weiss, P.
The paper presents a review of special optical research infrastructure developed for analysis of historical objects and materials. They include new methods for analysis of surface qualities and micro-geometry, namely the coded photometry stereo method and its applications. Further, X-ray micro radiography and micro-tomography are presented and illustrated by typical applications.

Vavřík, Daniel ; Bryscejn, Jan ; Jakůbek, J. ; Holý, T. ; Valach, Jaroslav ; Vykydal, Z.
This work reports on the results of the experimental observation of generation and evolution of internal material damage during loading process in aluminium alloy flat specimen with stress concentrator. Material damage is investigated by means of the "X ray Dynamic Defectoscopy" technique. To understand related physical processes, the surface plastic strain field is investigated by the optical Method of Interpolated Ellipses while the out-of plane displacement field is inspected simultaneously by the optical Coded photometric stereo method.
Optical measurement of surface displacements in the vicinity of crack tip
Valach, Jaroslav ; Vavřík, Daniel ; Bryscejn, Jan ; Jakůbek, J.
Combined optical method for measurement of three displacement fields on flat specimens is described and applied for the evaluation of surface deformation of flat aluminum alloy specimen with central crack in tensile tests. The method utilizes two optical methods – Coded Photometry Stereo and the method of Interpolated Ellipses allowing the measurement to be performed simultaneously making it favourable for dynamical tests.
New Experimental Setup for Study of Physical Processes Preceding Specimen Failure
Vavřík, Daniel ; Bryscejn, Jan ; Holý, T. ; Jakůbek, J. ; Jakůbek, M. ; Valach, Jaroslav ; Vykydal, Z.
Failure of a high ductile specimen usually precedes a decrease of the loading force under the condition of displacement control in the monotonic loading. Unfortunately, the elastic energy stored in the standard loading equipment can result in sudden failure within very short time corresponding to the loading unstability. We can prolong this time interval by reducing the elastic energy in the loading equipment. The proposed new loading frame fulfils the indicated requirement and enables extraordinary precise displacement loading control even beyond the maximal loading force. Plastic deformation on a surface is investigated by the optical Method of Interpolated Ellipses and together with damage processes inside of the specimen are simultaneously observed by the X-ray Dynamic Defectoscopy method.

The subject of this work is experimental observation of the development of internal damage and its evolution in aluminium alloy flat specimens with different configurations of the pre crack. We propose direct and non-destructive observation of the material damage evolution by measuring changes in transmission of X-rays penetrating a stressed material, using a single photon counting X-ray imager, called Medipix 1.

Jakubek, J. ; Vavřík, Daniel ; Pospíšil, S. ; Visschers, J.
The application of the Medipix-1 pixel detector device for directnondestructive observation of damage development in graduallystressed materials by means of X-ray transmission measurements(so called X-Ray Dynamic Defectoscopy -XRDD) has been recentlysuccessfully demonstrated.

Bryscejn, Jan ; Drdácký, Miloš ; Jakůbek, J. ; Vavřík, Daniel ; Valach, Jaroslav
A method for quality inspection of laser cleaned stone surfaces of historical buildings was developed. The method is based on analysis of the reconstructed surface topography of studied surface. The surface reconstruction employs methods of shape-from-shading and photometric stereo to obtain 3D data from sequence of digital images
