Is old wood better than new?

For the rescue of wooden elements and wood products are often discussions and disputes about the extent to which current technologies and materials can be brought closer to their original historical designs. At first sight, it may seems that windows made today can not have the qualities of windows that today still fulfills their function after many decades and hundreds of years. On the other hand, however, it is obvious that such this view might lead to inadequate simplification and, in our view, also sometimes leads to the requirements formulation whose technical basis may not be in line with what is already known and verified. And we would like to share this second look.

What wood for wood buildings?
