Czech Digital Library - a central solution for Czech libraries
Lhoták, Martin
The year 2021 has not only accelerated the development of some central tools of Czech librarianship, but has also triggered the need for more conceptual solutions that will ensure the operation of new services and simplify their functioning and access to them. Martin Lhotak's conference paper focused on the form and steps to be taken in providing central access to digital libraries operated in the Czech Republic to serve the public, what strategic considerations are behind its further development and how libraries should be involved in its operation.
Digital library of the Czech Academy of Sciences
Šlapáková, Ivana
The CAS Digital Library has been compiled since 2003. During that time it has come to include 180 titles of periodicals and over 2,700 monographs primarily from CAS institute output. Since 2016 the Digital Library has also included the full texts of original digital (‘’born digital’’) documents, and now contains over 8,300 documents of this kind. Kramerius software is used to make the Digital Library available to users. The Digital Library is accessible at http://kramerius.lib.cas.cz/client. Metadata entries for the Digital Library are created in the ALEPH system and in the ProArc metadata editor. Entry compilation has been under way in ALEPH since 2013, with 24,000 entries compiled in it to date. Entries are compiled retrospectively to 1999. Compilation in ProArc began in 2016, and the retrospection currently extends to 2005. Metadata entries in both systems are used in the CAS Digital Library, where they are interlinked with the full texts of periodicals.\n

Lehečka, B. ; Novák, D. ; Kersch, Filip ; Hladík, Radim ; Bíšková, J. ; Sekyrová, K. ; Válek, F. ; Vozár, Z. ; Bodnár, N. ; Sekan, P. ; Bežová, M. ; Žabička, P. ; Lhoták, Martin ; Straňák, Pavel
This methodology aims to offer libraries and other memory institutions in the Czech Republic a recommended procedure for making large volumes of data available for research purposes. Currently, from this point of view, a more than critical amount of documents from library collections are digitized, while the results of digitization are presented in various digital library systems. When making them available, it is always necessary to proceed from the current version of the copyright law, but it is already possible to prepare for its significant amendment, which implements Directive 2019/790 of the European Parliament and the Council and concerns, among other things, the extraction of texts and data for scientific purposes. The architecture of the newly developed system for digital libraries recommended by the methodology will ensure scalability, easy management and the development of related services. The presented methods of data processing, their enrichment and output formats are based on the requirements of specialists from the entire range of humanities.
